Just ordered a MBA m2 and bought a skin for it. Thanks so much man. Will have to watch your vid a few more times so i can be ready once my laptop gets delivered
This is why I'll never skin any device, I'm not good at tasks like this. If I could pay for someone to do it for me, sure, but, doing it myself I've screwed things up like this numerous times.
This video helped me. One trick I learned is, once corners are aligned properly, bubbles can be pushed out by gently wiping with the provided cloth. Wipe towards edge or apple logo ..which ever is closer to the bubble.
Thank you for putting this up. It was very helpful. The blow dryer trick was also very useful because a few of my corners started to pop up. Came out great!
@@PatrickRambles I actually have had some experience myself with vinyl signage, and I've watched professionals wrap cars, trucks, and busses. Technique is everything. Nice work.
The Dbrand video suggests using a hair dryer on the back corners. Have you had any trouble with peeling by not doing this? Also, by doing it the top installation this way, does the Apple Logo lineup perfectly? I would imagine that is hard to get in line.
I just ordered a Macbook pro 16 and will get these skins! Are there any of the materials of their skins that you would suggest me to directly avoid due to finger prints, or that they break more easily than other materials they use? Thanks for any advice😃 Yours looks super cool, like a racing car 😎👌🏻
Thanks! I'm not sure to be honest, I've only ever bought their carbon Fibre skins. I suppose the matte ones might be prone to finger prints but that's just a guess
hey I've rewatched your video many times because it's the only one showing the carbon fiber as well as you have. would you mind telling me how the texture feels? the smooth aluminum feel of the MacBooks are one of my favorite parts of owning one. how does the skin feel compared? thanks!
Does the skin provide any grip? The only reason I am going to skin up my macbook is because is slippery as hell! Could someone please elaborate? If yes, which dbrand skin provides the most grip?
Just came across your video after looking for dbrand macbook skins. Loved your vid! On a scale of 1-10 (very frustrating), how much of a trouble was it to install the top skin? Curious to know
You deservedly received quite a lot of views, Patrick. On another matter and as a Mac specialist, could you perhaps assist with a Mac 'Photos' app issue? Having moved from Windows to Mac only just recently I have also migrated all of my photos to the 'Photos' app. Whilst 'Keyword' and 'Location' description are self explanatory, I am not sure what to type into the 'Caption' and 'Title' sections of each photo to make perfect sense when at a later stage one has to work with the collection. I am also wondering if I could now delete all of the jpegs in the 'Pictures' folder, with the exception of the 'Photos Library' file? Thanks for any help you could offer, Ralf
@@PatrickRambles thanks for ultra quick response! I was on the Dbrand site and it only comes with the top part? Not the bottom? Or am I seeing it wrong?
Did your dbrand skin smell really strong? I just got one, but its off-gassing is so bad I removed it. Did you just deal with it, and if so, how long did it take to go away?
@@PatrickRambles trying to figure out if mine was abnormal or if they’re all like that and perhaps I’m just sensitive to the vinyl. I got the red carbon mbp M1 16” skin. Emailed support but they’re saying it could take 7+ days to get a response. Thanks for replying
I don't think it makes much of a difference to be honest, it will look good on either color. They do have a ton of options to choose from on their website so the black is definitely not all there is.
Even after your tuto, I needed 3 attempts. I bet this is not your first time for this tuto. It seems evident to me that you have to fail it at least ONCE, to learn visually the dimension default of the sticker, to then be able to divide by 2 this offset and center it properly at your second attempt.
HI! Is it advisable to use laptop skins? Doesn't it trap the heat? Was really thinking of applying skins cos I dont want scratches on my mac huhu thank you!!!
I put a Dbrand skin on my iPad Pro 2020 two days ago it is not easy I struggle. On the scale of 100% I did 98% a little off the three dot connectors is barely. Not noticeable.
That doesn't work. You need to progressively remove the paper from the sticker. Can't really do that from the middle. You'd also mess up the corners that way.
It doesn’t replace your case as it won’t protect against drops but it will definitely keep it from being scratched! Most cases will still fit with the skin on btw.
@@PatrickRambles ohh I thought this was supposed to replace a hard shell case. A lot of people online recommend a skin over a hard shell because it doesn’t stress the hinges or trap heat
@@PatrickRambles Just got my skin in today and it was about impossible to get it lined up like their install video said. Mine ended up being off but you can't really tell unless you look real close.
Nice job and thanks for sharing. Your instructions are much better than the crappy ones from dbrand. Still, dbrand’s products are cheap and suck. I strongly recommend people avoid these cheap overpriced stickers from a very shady Chinese company.
Your video might not get a lot of views but it is reaching the people who want it and we appreciate the time and effort you put into this

Might get my first Dbrand skin for my new M1 MacBook Pro after watching this video. Nice application

Looks great, bit I think it will reduce the cooling affect....especially the bottom part
Hey there! Not really. MacBooks dissipate the heat through the keyboard, not the top or bottom.
Thank you for showing us ! One question. Will this affect the temperature of the machine ?
No, most heat is dissipated throug the keyboard. On the bottom there are cutouts in the appropriate places.

Can you propose any alternative aside from a blow dryer? Or is that the most effective in heating up the skin

It’s not easy !! Although I found the MacBook one even harder to apply because of the rounded edges
