Im a grandmother who has always been a intermediate cook an baker.i love food, history and culture.cant wait to see whatever videos an recipes you put out there. Enjoy your videos.
I Love your videos and the stories you tell your cooking is awesome thank you so much for sharing your wonderful recipes. You really need a nice glass of red wine to go with that wonderful steak dinner
I bought a vacuum sealer and number of years ago to repackage meats before freezing and to say I love it would be an understatement. I have also started cooking some of those meats (sealed) slowly in a crock pot prior to searing on top of stove and it's FANTASTIC!
In Australian butchers it is called the "Cattleman's cut". Thanks for showing the sous-vide method. If one sears both side and finish in the oven in low heat would it achieve similar result?
i love the way you cut up your brussel sprouts! i've always cooked them whole. i'm embarrassed to say that it never occurred to me to cut them up! i will be from now on!
Enjoying your videos Darren and what dishes do you make that your wife and daughter like? Also I love seeing Winston and hope your channel hits the hundred thousand mark soon
I have to remind myself to never look at Darren when I'm hungry!!!😡 It's settled: Ribeyes for dinner tonight. Stay safe, everyone, mvbo31, RN, MSN/MPH.
Yeah the thing about cowboys not having forks is a myth, the “Wild west” period where cowboys as we know them lived spanned from 1607 - 1920 but the fork was invented way back between 301-400 BC. The “it has a bone because they didn’t have forks” thing is a myth. The reason they cooked it bone in is because it was easier than having to remove the bone.
I think by not having a fork it doesn't mean it didn't exist, I think it just meant they were travelling without much kitchen equipment. That said, the cowboys must have had a decent knife, and you can cut, stab and eat your food with a knife just as well as a fork...
well done chef mcgrady!! i LOVE ur videos. they have inspired me, as a diabetic, to expand what i prepare in the truck when im on the road (o.t.r reefer "buzz box" hauler). ive been able to keep the sugar, carbs, an starch low and drasticly improve my diabetes management. id love to get my hands on one of ur cook books. keep up the great work!!
One trick my old chef taught me about Brusselsprouts, boil them a bit in water, after they are cleaned, and cut in 2 . Not long, a minute or so. Rinse them, and back in pot with butter and Vanilla ,just heat them and let all mix until ready. The sprouts get so sweet and good and unknown.
Chef, thank you! How timely. My son just bought a sous -vide. In Buffalo, My favorite cut a rib eye delmonico! Moo! I know what you mean about the steaks in Italy. I never thought I could eat beef “ blue rare”. The cuts are so clean and everything is local.... with a good bottle of red... well delicioso 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇮🇹 holy cow, what a great meal. Chef, will you be having other tours? We usually leave from Toronto. I just heard the border will be closed for another few months. Stay safe and cheers🥂🍻
I never really had brussel sprouts, but now that I'm looking at the dish, it makes me want to try it. Plus the bacon and steak will really help too. That's kinda how I grew to like mushrooms too.
Nothing funnier than a Brit talking about Cowboys. You must have amazing conversations with some of those “ Good Ole Boys “? I was stationed temporarily in San Antonio. I was a Northerner. I got lots of crap for that but the Texas people are awesome. RiverWalk is spectacular. Lots of history in Texas as you probably have learned.
OMG, I love that cut of steak and it did look perfect. I might try your recipe for brussel sprouts but I think by the time I cut them all up like that, I'll be wanting to stab someone. I'm glad to see Winston got his snack. Good boy!
While cowboys did stop at certain spots to rest overnight. Lots of times they wouldnt stop to rest until they got where they were going. So they would purchase jerky to eat.
I like to roast brussels sprouts in a little olive oil, salt and pepper and then just before serving add them to a frying pan with butter and chestnuts or bacon lardons, best sprouts ever!
That Winston! Love your channel and content. That said, I cringe every time my food is served on something other than a plate. I know some people love the creative alternatives. There is a funny website called "We want plates" and it shows all the crazy things people are serving on. I loved the look of your steak anyway, I just prefer mine on a plate. ; )
I wanted that Cowboy Steak & those Brussel sprouts in bacon, red onion & garlic, yeah baby! I love Brussel Sprouts so I’m definitely going to make this dish. Thanks! 😎👍🇺🇸
Cowboys may not have had forks but they all had knives for cutting rope primarily. You can guess they grabbed the bone and cut off bites with their knives. Still, the story of them grabbing the steak and biting it like cavemen is legend.
With all due respect, cowboys have never heard of "chimichurri", since it's an Argentine dressing for our barbecue or "asado", for which our country is quite famous.
Looks great, but as a Texan, I feel I’m qualified to say that cowboys weren’t eating steaks like that. Majority of the diet of the cowboys was dried goods you could pack in the chuck wagon like beans and rice, salted or preserved meats, bacon stuff like that. I’m sure if they had to put a cow down for whatever reason they wouldn’t have wasted it but those cows were worth more than the cowboys themselves more often than not.
It's funny to think that people think they didn't carry utensils. Common sense says that they needed them to eat beans, stews and soups. Actually they didn't eat beef unless it was someone elses or had to be destroyed.
"Winston! Oh my gosh!" lol. My mouth is watering looking at that yummy steak.
What a great way to start the morning! You're always so cheerful Chef McGrady!
Im a grandmother who has always been a intermediate cook an baker.i love food, history and culture.cant wait to see whatever videos an recipes you put out there. Enjoy your videos.
They may not have forks, but I have never met a cowboy without a knife.
Hahahahaha Brilliant!
Well he’s English and may not know that.
The forks, spoons, and plates stay with the chuck wagon.
@@conradnelson5283 he lives in texas now tho
Never without a knife but i wpuldnt wanna cut food with it lol
Great video, Darren! I'm loving Winston more and more!
I Love your videos and the stories you tell your cooking is awesome thank you so much for sharing your wonderful recipes. You really need a nice glass of red wine to go with that wonderful steak dinner
Thank you Chef for bringing English cooking to light

Ribeye with the bone-in...Just perfect with a glass of red wine...Cheers..
A cowboy steak looks like a meat lollipop. My husband would love this.
i love the way you cut up your brussel sprouts! i've always cooked them whole. i'm embarrassed to say that it never occurred to me to cut them up! i will be from now on!

Darren: Brussel sprouts are such a great anti carcinogen
*proceeds to combine them with a mega carcinogen*
:))))))
Mega Carcinogen for President
I've been craving brussel sprouts!! Thanks so much!!
With the garlic and chili, I can safely guess that her majesty will not like this sauce.
Love the show Darren, keep them coming!

Yummy 😋
Your videos are so enjoyable!
Ohh Winston...... tut tut 🤣

Yes it is Bob. Love the riverwalk in San Antonio. And thank you for your service

I don't really love meat, but I love that cowboy steak. I eat meat, but that looks exceptional!! 👍🏻😍

making my mouth water
I always have to make sure I get these in even numbers because I have two giant versions of Winston and everybody wants a bone!
That Winston! Love your channel and content. That said, I cringe every time my food is served on something other than a plate. I know some people love the creative alternatives. I like to roast brussel sprouts to make a crispy snack.
Cowboys may not have had forks but they all had knives for cutting rope primarily. You can guess they grabbed the bone and cut off bites with their knives. Still, the story of them grabbing the steak and biting it like cavemen is legend.
Chef: The cowboy ribeye feeds two people.
Me: Challenge accepted.
Just incredible
Nice job Sir. Nice job indeed.
I cook my Brussell Sprouts like that, but then I throw in a handful of raisins and pecans. It's always a hit.
Dear ML W,
Raisins & Pecans? That sounds absolutely delicious! Thank you! 😊
Add a bit of maple syrup! Delish!
Lovely I cook steak about twice a week so thanks Darren❤
Love, Love, Loved this video…Thank you ☺️👍🏻
With all due respect, cowboys have never heard of "chimichurri", since it's an Argentine dressing for our barbecue or "asado", for which our country is quite famous.
By the way, you forget to add red pepper flakes which are essential for a good chimichurri
@@aliciadelazar5345 but he added fresh chili pepper, so that is probably better than dried.
For the next Q&A:
Where did Winston get his name?
Maybe named for Winston Churchill?
Can you show us the Banana Flan in a video?
if everyone cooked a thanksgiving.. pasty for one another again, maybe the "nockers" mentioned in the pasty one, would all go? yeahhh.
superb!
Darren, you make videos of the royals favorites. Why not make videos of each family members favorites, yours too! And have each assist you.
brussel sprouts? I will have to try this 🍖
😋
With a perfectly cooked steak! And I would bet my right arm that Chef McGrady, not Winston, earned the tasty bone!
In the USA we call this a Thomahawk Steak.
This looks like something Prince Phillip would have been all over! Can carrot tops be used in the chimichurri?
I Love Winston. GO WINSTON. Love you too Chef.lol.xx
Can you make a video on how to make Cinnamon Rolls
"Cowboy steak feeds two people" lol imma destroy it by myself
Wow Great! Steak
I didn't know there were Prairies in Jolly Ole England! Or cowboys! A cowboy steak is just a great piece of meat.
He lives in Texas now!
Looks great, but as a Texan, I feel I’m qualified to say that cowboys weren’t eating steaks like that. Yep!
Exciting!
Winston come back with that leg of lamb ❤
Do you need to let a sous vide steak rest after searing?
I don't know about cowboys either, but I would eat that steak with my bare hands!!!!!
I’m curious, is there any recipe he presents that *_isn’t_* “one of his favourites”?
Only cook my favorite food sir ! 😉
Was it a tough transition from British tastes to Southern American?
North American, but yes, it was exciting trying new recipes and ingredients
Hi Darren love your show, was that you as the chef in the movie the "The Final Score"
Good
I'll take mine medium well to spread my spell.
Can you make a manual sous vied? With a thermometer in your bag meals? Can't find one in our state/stores
