He keeps speaking of Philip in the past tense, so I had to look him up to make sure he was still alive. Seems he is, and almost 99 years old. The Queen is 94 and her recent speech shows her to be remarkably lucid for her age. I wouldn't be surprised if they both make it past 100.
Sadly but inevitably for someone of his years, Prince Philip has been having more health issues of late and has largely retreated from the public eye. It will be a sad day when he passes, particularly for those who have such fond personal memories of him.
I heard she does not have garlic as she is with the public so often does not want to have bad breath, soooooo, never has garlic because of this and it is a rule not to have garlic in the kitchen so every one is the same. June.

Noah Mitchell ignorant statement. Do not envy people that have outworked and surpassed you. It shows a lack of character. Nepotism is an act of employing or promoting or otherwise giving benefits to someone purely based on relationships and not performance. Using this Chef as an example, he started at an entry level government position and worked his way to the top. Now, if you have never done this it can be easy to trick yourself into thinking everyone is surpassing you because of nepotism or the boss is playing favorites. In reality, what’s happening is the boss is moving people up that are working the Hardest and require the least supervision. The guy at the bottom stays at the bottom because the boss knows that’s all that employee is capable off. The American dream is the opportunity (not the guarantee) to be successful based on your own effort, and I have yet to meet anyone in America that hasn’t had that opportunity.
@@slappymcface5681 1) You know nothing about me 2) You know nothing about me 3) You know nothing about me 4) How about the millions of immigrants seeking the American dream that Trump turns away, or steals the children from, etc. 5) The American dream is an idyll touted by the government so that the citizens are more content with the elitism and social stagnation of the country. In reality, it does not exist. The few individuals it does happen for are used by both parties to show that the dream is alive and well when in reality it is 6ft under.
Noah Mitchell I never claimed to know anything about you, but apparently I hit a nerve. Also, how are you trying to turn this into an immigration conversation? It leads me to believe it’s your go to argument when faced with any conflict. I will go ahead and point out the fact that ZERO legal immigrants have been deported or separated from their children by this administration. Do you know how many immigrants have come to the United States and started their own business and thrived. Do you know why they come here and thrive and don’t stay where they are and thrive? Because the dream is available to those who are willing to work for it here.

i also can’t believe he comes from the same heritage as me. im greek and hes greek too.
He's a natural raconteur. I'd love to hear more stories.
He keeps speaking of Philip in the past tense, so I had to look him up to make sure he was still alive. Seems he is, and almost 99 years old. The Queen is 94 and her recent speech shows her to be remarkably lucid for her age. I wouldn't be surprised if they both make it past 100.
Thats because of drinking the blood of the young, or so that's what the conspiracy theorists theorize lol.
Adrenochrome is one hell of a drug. x
Sadly but inevitably for someone of his years, Prince Philip has been having more health issues of late and has largely retreated from the public eye. It will be a sad day when he passes, particularly for those who have such fond personal memories of him.
Her mother lived to be 103 yrs old
It’s because he doesn’t work for them anymore I think
Who’s watching this after Prince Philips funeral🥺rip 🕊

What this series has taught me:
The Queen *_doESn'T LIKe GaRLiC_* 🧛
I heard she does not have garlic as she is with the public so often does not want to have bad breath, soooooo, never has garlic because of this and it is a rule not to have garlic in the kitchen so every one is the same. June.
And prince Harry throws pasta at the wall
shes a vampire. also she doesn’t wanna have bad breath, so she avoids garlic, also she doesn’t like eating it either. this rule for no garlic also applies to the royal family when they are in public events too.
An entry level cook who humbly busted his ass to become the top chef in a country. Hats off to him from Oklahoma.
nepotism is the real American dream, amirite?
@@slappymcface5681 1) You know nothing about me
2) You know nothing about me
3) You know nothing about me
4) How about the millions of immigrants seeking the American dream that Trump turns away, or steals the children from, etc.
Because the dream is available to those who are willing to work for it here.
oh god even cooking videos have gotten political now :/
He’s so genuine and nice this dude, I struggle to believe he worked for the royal family because he speaks and seems like an average person, not egotistical nor like he’s faking it.
you can work for royalty and be a decent person, you know. the staff does not have to be like the people they work for, otherwise a lot of industries would have issues greater than they have ;)
Commissar Ankerstjerne by “speaks like an average person” I meant he doesn’t use overly formal language, but I can understand the confusion.
Despite what you think, the Royal Family aren’t egotistical as people
you can tell by his stories, that he was well treated by the royal family and he is definitely very fond of them as well.
You may be shocked to discover he's actually a droid.
I cannot imagine having a personal chef all your life, being able to eat whatever you want, not thinking of what it costs.... Truly a dream life on earth. 👑🎩🌎
. . . How correct you are ' Stopeatinganimals ' ... and O N L Y ,
because of an ' accident of birth ' ;
not one single other criteria . And that
vapidity of ' selection ' is so obvious to see .
If you tend to be a glutton that might seem a dream but for those of us who eat to live and not the inverse I can't see that my diet would change that much.
@@MsMesem I'm not a glutton, I eat to live just like you, but if I'm in a position being able eat whatever I want.. I would love to try all the fruits and vegetables around the world.
@@creamerasant I've figured out what I like and don't like and I've gone right off eating much fruit which leaves vegetables and fungi and all are very accessible or growable!
@@MsMesem we don't all eat food pulled out of soil that same day, or eat meat shot that morning, fish right out of our own river, etc. Having a chef to prepare things matters as well.
The queen really hates garlic. Well its obvious then, she's a vampire..
😂🤣😂
Explains why she has lived so long
Bahahahha
The entire Royal family is basically a den of vampires. They are literally the largest welfare parasites ever.
Alistaire Mordyn idiot. You’re probably a dole man yourself.
this is the guy that helps the princess escape the castle from her royal family
Rest in peace Prince Phillip, I wish I had known all these things about you before you died. Great character 😊. Absolutely love this chap too
He's such a, good story teller, and of course, a great chef. Legend
I havent a clue why this video was recommended to me! Glad it was! This guy is a fantastic storyteller and has a great turn of phrase. Could listen to him all day.
Prince Philip sound like a chill and relax cool guy 😎
husband and wife who has different taste of food but survive for 73 years.
Because she is not the one cooking 😂
This really isnt a big deal
having a chef to make you anything you want makes things considerably easier when it comes to partners with different tastes
Money kept them close 🤣
Haaaa Amazing 😻
Chef Darren McGrady is so pleasurable to watch and he is very informative with a great personality. I can see why he made it to the top of culinary :)
9:18 "the queen doesn't like garlic" I always knew she was a vampire.
that is why she could live for so long

She is also related to Count Dracula but not directly but still related
She's the foremost public figure, and has to be mindful of things like garlic breath that the rest of us never give a second thought to.

Beautiful dish. A humble Prince. May his soul rest in peace.
This guy is so genuine! Really enjoys cooking, teaching and most telling his stories. ☺️
I like your tutorials. I really enjoy listening to your stories. Seeing the real side of people warms my heart. Harry & William being my favorite royals.
That was adorable!!! Thank you!!! Such an amazing man, RIP Prince Philip.
Just a heads up for anyone else who got this in their recommended - Chef Darren McGrady has his own cooking channel and it's actually the definition of comfort :)
What a lovely man!! I could listen to him tell stories all day.
aww, thanks Carla
When you see this video after his death... R.I.P. Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh
rip prins piplip🧟♂️
👍
Rip
Lol my man is gone
When you see this comment the day after the queen's funeral...
When the queen is away the princes eat like KINGS
The way he demonstrated the mango peel is how we were taught growing up in Tonga and my grandfather who was a Duke in Tonga had the honour of meeting the Duke of Edinburgh in the 50’s
The Prince had his choice of the finest clothing in the world, but when he was away from the public he wore a tatty green sweater with a hole in the sleeve!
Edit: after seeing some of the other pictures, it seems he really loved that sweater.
I have a favorite night gown that I should get rid of but keep! Lol! It's so soft after so many washings..
Haha. I met him YEARS ago in Scotland when he used to compete driving teams of ponies. My aunt competed too. He just came up and started chatting. It wasn't until later I was told who it was. I didn't recognize him either.
I remember watching this a year ago and loving this. Bittersweet that a year later Prince Philip has just passed. R.I.P. But I'm glad the UA-cam algorithm brought this back. I would really like to make this.
love this guy so much!!
I like how the guy seems like the person that would own a lunch & breakfast shop but he's actually working for the crown
He owns a catering business and resides in Texas.
What a lovely guy, so warm
Royal Chef: "oh hi prince Phillip"
prince Phillip: *enters the kitchen holding a UNO reverse card*
I'm not even British, but I'd love to sit down to afternoon tea with Darren and chat about food and listen to all his stories. 🫖
Love how down-to-earth Prince Philip is, cooking dinner for his staff! Reminds me of Diana, how she made coffee for the staff :) no wonder Philip understood Diana, the two are very much alike and both felt like outsiders
Listen again, he took the staff's lamb and cooked it for himself lol

Chef Darren, what a treat to have you make a video. What a great storyteller as well. Chef Darren is just as much a storyteller in person. If anyone has an opportunity to attend one of his classes, do. Wonderful chef, person, and storyteller.
aww, thank you
Darren clearly vauled his time working for the royal family. It clearly shows that he not only enjoyed working for them but also had a great relationship with the family members as well. The look in the eyes when he talks about Prince Philip or the Queen. So great.
As an American, I know nothing about the royal family. But since his passing and learning more about him, I truly understand why the man was so beloved. All men should aspire to live as Prince Phillip did, rest in peace.
why would you not know anything about them?
@@lynnsmithershubbard1896 Most Americans such as myself finds the idea of a monarchy to be rather outdated and unusual, even one as neutral as the British Royals. We just think of things differently.

Prince Philip just passed away, and this video just makes me sad he is now gone. Rest in peace.

What a true Gentleman, full of whether you like it or not, Factual humour and quick wit, HRH The Duke Of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip Mountbatten, will be missed dearly by all Especially HM The Queen. Fly High one final time in that T-6.
People always talk about how inappropriate he was, but I loved his jokes. Especially coming from a royalty, not as stuffy as the others tend to be, it's even better. haha
What a nice fascinating guy, he needs his own TV programme
He has his own UA-cam channel, search Darden McGrady
He’s in a coffin now so too late for that
👍
I’m overtly against royalty, but that aside, Prince Philip seemed like a genuinely nice and humble guy.
I'd say I'm like you a bit stand-offish re the Windsors, but yes Prince Philip took a new role upon himself, pragmatic, navy schooled, an uncertain early start. Great reader, knowledgeable across so much human activity, art, innovation, design; shame the press focused on mere and occasional slight gaffes. RIP Sir!
we should bring back the monarchy and get rid of the parliamentary system
@lolo lollo just because you have a job doesn't mean you know everything about it
Rest in Peace, Prince Philip
I think I enjoyed the stories about him more than watching the dish itself being prepared. Sounds like he was an ok fellow.
Who else is watching this during quarantine while making a lovely meal of .39¢ shrimp “flavored” Top Ramen with a nicely aged Sriracha Sauce glaze because it’s the only thing the hoarders left in the store? 🥂
