Thanks for riding this bike! I really felt like I was sitting in that seat, definitely a great bike! Triumph is great with making their bikes look original and not stolen from other manufacturers designs
I love my 900 RP - and enjoyed both yours and Travis' reviews. Yes, the switching into off-road mode at a stop is annoying, and you do have to confirm the choice, but the off-road performance is a blast! Glad you got to experience dirt and gravel on your test ride! Funny that both you and Beard said that in the matter of X minutes, you felt more comfortable than your Africa Twins! Oh, and I tell everyone that my bike is way more capable than it's pilot! ;-)
I bought a lightly used 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 that I am turning into my touring/motocamping bike. I do love my bike and once it gets setup, I may post some videos with it.
Glad you got to ride a Tiger. I picked one up last December and already put 12K miles on it. I was also at the Rally and road up to Tyee lookout which was rocky AF but fun. The Tiger handled it like a champ. We also did the single track and I was pleasantly surprised how well it did. Such a fun bike. Only complaint is that you can NOT switch into Offroad or Offroad Pro mode while moving. All other modes you can. I get why they do that but it’s annoying. The screen is big and impressive but I feel like they failed on the layout. Info is badly distributed. Odometer thanks s buried and you have to be on a specific screen to view it. Hopefully they get god feedback from riders and do a major software update. They certainly listened to Tiger 800 riders and made amazing changes with this new 900. Great bike and I’m very happy with it. Cool to see your first impressions on it 👍🏼
I have a '20 Tiger 900 RP. I put 7,500+ miles on it within a month of purchase. Just finished an 11,500 mile/26 state/Trans-America Trail ride with a fully loaded bike and have 26,000 miles on it within a year's time. I love the Triumph and have no complaints about its performance, but I don't feel that I can do the maintenance on my own with such a technologically advanced bike. I just bought a Japanese ADV bike to ride for a few months to see if it will do everything I want it to and I already like the simplicity of it. The Triumph requires European maintenance intervals, while a Japanese bike...has Japanese maintenance intervals.
Interesting that both you and Travis enjoyed the bike, and said many if the same things, while his takeaway was it's a road bike good offroad, and yours was that it's an offroad bike good on the road. I expect the height difference played a part in how comfortable you each were standing.
Awesome video, fellow dork. I appreciate the casual review. Does a lot more to describe the bike than the motorcycle pro who's ridden everything. Love the video-game title and end screen too. 🤙
Being a slab rider that wishes for ADV I am glad you got the chance to do this test ride. As you said so many people have to buy their ADV scooter with only on road testing when in reality they will spend most tome off road. Great first impression video.
I love my Tiger 900 RP, it’s a hell of a bike and extremely tough and reliable. Since I’ve bought mine I’ve thrown the MABDR and SCAR at it along with a ton of trail riding in the swamps and forests of coasts South Carolina. I can’t praise the Tiger enough. StrykerADV
I live just up the road from you in coastal NC. Will be doing the scar in 3-4 weeks. I’m giving serious thought to buying one. Did the TAT this summer on my BMW F 800 GS had a blast.
Great video. I think the fact that you don't know anything about the bike really helps the review. It's not another "read the specs and recite the company mantra" video. As you tubers become all-knowing, i think they lose the true 'first impression' ability. (on a different note, i found my self checking out (again) a few of your earlier videos. What a hoot. The first "face" reveal and all that, lol). Keep it up, you found your niche!
im glad to hear you enjoyed this bike because its a bike im considering to get it for my dad but i wasn't sure about how approachable the seat height was going to be or if it was going to be a friendly bike to take off road, but having the dork in the road stamp of approval thats all i need to know this is going to be the right bike for him
I 100% agree with everything you mention in this video. My first impressions of the machine were identical with yours. So much so that all I have to do now is pick the color 👍
I test rode 3 adv bikes at IMS Outdoors Orlando on Saturday 10/16/21. The Tiger 900 Low was my favorite. My only complaint was my hands went numb halfway through the ride. That might have been the ride mode it was in. I would definitely buy one if I could keep my Triumph Bonneville.
I love this bike. It is a great allrounder. But for my trip around the world i will take an AT. I just think, that i will find more Honda dealer around the world then Triumph. Great Video!
You sure made that a hoot to watch! It's easy to tell when you're more excited than normal. Voices can actually go backwards after puberty, and get much higher sometimes.....just by ACTING younger
Great stuff, thank you! If you want to see someone really ride the wheels off that Tiger check out Steve Kamrad on UA-cam, the guy is a legend IMO and rides better than either of us combined ever will lol.
I would describe you as somewhat giddy and more-than-usual-babbly on that ride!🤣 Great first impression! I echo so many of the comments already made. Thanks for the video!
The 900 GT Pro is a serious contender for my next bike, but I have to buy a house, first, and real estate prices have run amok, so I'll probably be on my Versys for a couple more years.
So Ben, how do you really feel about the Tiger? LOL. Id love to see a more extensive comparison with the Africa Twin as far as cost to purchase and easy of utilizing the electronics, and maintainance schedule and costs. You sound like you really liked the ride.
@@DorkintheRoad I love you channel and the way you present the content. Im leaning towards the AT but love hearing from you, your comparisons. I had a KLR that was great, but not quite the touring bike/duly purpose/ADV . Keep up the great work, looking forward to your next upload.
Sounds like an impressive machine from your test drive - would you pick this one over your African Twin if you had to do it over again? Nice video, Cheers, Ronny
A nice review. Actually, I think more testers should just ride a bike without having studied the specs beforehand and just give their impressions. How tall are you, if I may ask? Perhaps in cm ? Thanks!
My reaction to this bike was similar to yours when I got to ride it on a demo day, sadly only on road. The engine pulls better than my 1200 explorer and it for sure brakes better to! I hate the graphics on the dash though, the ones on the 1200 scrambler are much nicer, hell the whole bike looks allot better! But since I absolutely hate cleaning chains I pass 😎 Btw what happened to that mirror? 🤔
Never cleaned a chain in my life! No need since O and X ring chains were invented about 300 years ago! Just slip a Scotoiler on it and your good to go!
@@DorkintheRoad thats a very fair reason and the same as to why I'm looking at it. Tiger has some really nice features but I also like the disconnect from all the comforts and just want a bike... thanks for responding. Still sitting here watching your videos 👍
I'm always scared for people riding off road trails as if no one is coming the opposite way that needs space as well. Especially in bends or less visible places.
I can't decide how I feel about you referring to yourself as an African twin rider. I knew it was bound to happen eventually, but I still haven't come to grips with it yet.
