Something that Brotherhood didn't clarify cuz they were rushing trhough the early episodes, is that Armstrong truly believes his physique is inspiring to others, he's never trying to show off. But he thinks his muscles are the best medicine to everything.
i've only ever watched the anime, and i thought this was pretty obvious -- not that i blame people for not noticing it, but they do almost directly state this in the first episode
This show is such an adventure, I LOVE how symbolic trains are in this show for Ed and Al. Its been like a home to them with all the travelling around, trying to become whole again...
I am so pleased with how much you love Armstrong, dude is awesome and it doesn't hurt that Chris Sabbat does his english voice work. I also really like his character since he is so compassionate and sensitive, yet he did serve in the Ishvalan war alongside the other state alchemists. Just imagine what such a conflict would be like for a man like Armstrong, this is something that you will get to see a little bit of in future episodes but suffice to say it affected him very strongly. It wasn't just him that was pretty messed up ofc but for some reason I find his particular experience one of the saddest

Some people say to skip episode 27 because it's a recap episode and it is but it's not like there's nothing original in it and it really fleshes out Ed and Al's father as a character.
Small thing I noticed: before Winry hears that Ed has arrived, she's working with her jumpsuit closed. When she goes out to greet him (i.e. chew him out), the jumpsuit is open. Coincidence? I think NOT!

The Sins aren't necessarily played straight. Lust isn't lustful herself, more so she induces lust in others, and you could also say that she's bloodlusty.
What I jsut realized, Pinako is the primary on Eds leg and where Winry needs three days and nights, her "master" Pinako is just cranking out an automail leg while also doing the chores, cooking and chatting around with Armstrong. It's never really shown in the anime, but damn that lady is an amazingly experienced engineer.
On Ed and Al father, we know a couple of things. He's an old friend on Pinako Grandbell, the grandma, left before his wife died because Ed mentioned in episode 2 he didn't came for her funeral, and probably knew alchemy because their mother wonder if he's the one who teach them. So he probably left not long before the tragedy if they would be able to remember him. As fot the face cover stuff...you'll understand once you'd see it ^^
I love this episode. The introduction of Winry, Marco, and Pinako feels so natural. Getting to see Ed and Al's home as it is now, all the gaffes with Armstrong. Just a nice pleasant episode.
dammit winry he's never had a problem with rust before, and never will (not a spoiler, this is never brought up again) but he fights, why can't you trust ed to know he needs something sturdy for fighting
Can u guys open subs pls.? Volume is low and English is not my native lang. So, it's hard to understand anime. I missed half of the sentences. Love your reactions
17:50 And here you see a bit of a history lesson in anime. Anime standard used to be long-form and run continuously without breaks. Typically shounen epic adventure stories or comedy, like Dragon Ball, Detective Conan, Lupin III, Naruto, Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Bleach, One Piece, Gundam, Fullmetal Alchemist. But around the mid-2000s, studios started to trend to produce anime in 24/26 episode chunks, if they were not the big name studios, or when producing anime with less of a big name appeal. It was very common to see 26 episode shows here, and increasingly 13 episode shows. Then the 2010s hit, and especially after mid-2010s, the shift really cemented away from long-running epics and into more seasonal anime 12-13 episodes in length. Less risky to produce and make profit from, and holds the audiences attention better, among other reasons. Easier to compartmentalize financially into quarterly sales or audience metrics, and then gauge if it's worth continuing the investment into more episodes. So I get Carlie's initial ignorance about the season length of FMAB. Newer anime production really is quite a lot different from how it used to be.
Armstrong and Hugues as far as state military as my 2 favorite. Mustang is close but those 2 are my top I can remember. I am rewatching the series as well.
because they're entirely separate stories and they only thing they have in common is like, the first 12 episodes. its like saying you have to read the soul eater manga before watching the anime
in fairness, the dub does use he/him pronouns for envy. i assume it's probably in that old-timey "he is both gender-neutral and masculine" way? either way, in my opinion, i really doubt envy would care about what gender theyre perceived as, lol
@@oggser8050 Fair, but the dub was wrong to do so. It is a product of its time. Envy's "pronouns", as it were, in the OG Japanese dub and in the manga are very deliberately used. Being educated is good.
FMA has nothing to do with the Brotherhood version. None of those events or people actually exist in the Brotherhood universe. They are two completely distinct timelines/universes with no overlap. As such, it is nonsensical to apply character traits from FMA Ed to Brotherhood Ed, or FMA Armstrong to Brotherhood Armstrong, because they simply don't HAVE those traits unless it is demonstrated in brotherhood itself that they possess them (in which case, you don't need to watch FMA to get the character development in the first place, which is my point.) The show is 10/10 even if you never watch FMA. They have nothing to do with each other.
I have to say that first part of the story I like better in the old anime. In brotherhood it really feels rushed, in old anime it is really dark, emotional and hits you hard
Maybe its a bit rushed but it doesnt look like they are missing anything. Actually you could argue fma was too dark and soapy. We get it, the world is cruel. Dont need to stick it to us. I agree with the public opinion of fmab. Its a 10 out of 10 regardless of anything.
That's on purpose I believe - they made this show with the assumption that you have already seen FMA. When FMA started they were still writing the Manga, so FMA deviated and had their own ending. When the Manga finished they adapted the manga
In case nobody has warned you yet, skip Episode 27, it's a clip show that wasn't in the manga, and spoils a big reveal in Episode 28. If you want to watch it after Episode 28, more power to you, but all you will get is confused.
