There's a scene in this that always made me smile, when he's climbing the mountain and he slips on a rock and it looks like he's tired but then he sees the aura around him and knows he's almost there and smiles and quickly pushes on. As a kid that resonated with me a lot when I needed extra encouragement, I would think of that scene and think "just push myself a little more, almost there!".
Thanks for sharing this. I would do similar things as a child. A lot of people, especially older generations, love to hate on videogames and can't see the benefits they provide. I used the characters from games I loved as inspiration as a child as well. Just like all other forms of media videogames can educate and inspire just as much as books, TV shows and films
As someone who has never played this game before, it is so well made. I get a general sense of who all the characters are without a single word. It gives you a vibe for the game without spoiling anything. And it has that classic, mid 90s washed out anime look, back when anime looked good.
Wow, this old game openings always bring me back, for a few seconds, to days that no longer exist, to my infancy in the 90s, playing PS1 an so on. Good days, good times. Life was simpler. Make me think, and make me miss it. Probably nostalgia is one of the most complex and deepest feelings.
For me it's not only nostalgia, but it feels way less "corporative" like the media we see nowadays. These experiences feel genuine, made with passion. Creativity over monetization.
@@joelelmlund4972 Same. Been whistling this song ever since my PSone childhood days. Always been a whistler, and am pretty good at it, and this is ALWAYS my go to song to warm up, get in a mood at work, or to show off some whistling skills.
this game is one of the best games of the 90s. And this game's opening holds so much meaning. the person who wrote this song, uses a mouth whistle to do this. If you can watch the "Live version".
It's so beautiful when you see the meaning behind the sequence too. Tears falling off the dogtag/necklace of a fallen loved one, with those feelings being passed on from one friend to another (through the pink dust) in their time of need, inspiring them to keep living and moving forward. That full circle moment of paying respects and then the one you said goodbye to coming back to inspire you in the form of guidance from beyond. Then sharing that moment of triumph with your friends right after, not even having to say any words to understand each other. Haven't even played the game yet so I could be wrong about exact details but it still feels so impactful and incredible. It's why I love JRPGs and the fleshed out characters and storylines so much. Amazing style of intro that we need to come back to video games tbh
