1941 American LaFrance Fire Engine Repairs

  • This is the second installment on this larger project of resurrecting a long slumber 500 series ALF fire engine. This truck came from Monmouth Illinois and is privately owned. We go through brake work, cooling system repairs, electrical system upgrades and a lot more. There will be a third video to follow for the completed project and a test drive so stay tuned!
    Also keep an eye out for a secondary video which explains how to remove the rear drum and adjusters on the braking system.

    Great video! I am working on the exact truck and had a question. What is the grey box on the firewall on the driver side. It runs off engine vacuum and goes into the water pump. Would love to figure out what that is. Thank you.

    Good morning, what battery are you using for this restore. I am purchasing a 1939 La France pumper. I assume it is 6volt however cannot find anybody showing this.
