  • Took a couple of flights in the morning to test the MyFlyDream Crossbow mini antenna tracker. The setup was the tracker receiver and a stationary receiver routed through an Eagle Eyes diversity switch.
    After setting the compass and the GPS co-ordinates of the base station I tested the tracking by walking around the hill top and observing the tracker following.
    Time to launch and the iNav auto launch didn't let me down.
    The first flight was good up to around 2km out whereupon the tracker receiver started to lose connection and that the Eagle Eyes switch could not decide which feed was best and just flipped between them.
    The second flight I disconnected the stationary receiver and went with just the tracker. A better picture was available until the 2km 'limit' hit and I had to return to flying closer.
    I have now swapped out the tracker receiver with a different model.
    The Mateksys 1.3Ghz receiver just seems to be....well...a bit shit.
    Adam G does FPV ( • Matek V2 Vrx Review - ... ) had similar issues with one, putting it down to interactions with the RC link on DrangonLink. I was flying Crossfire was sitting around 3m away from the antenna and the issue looks pretty much the same.
    Sorry there's only one flight in HD video - I forgot to start the camera the second flight.
    There was around a 30kph headwind which was considerably stronger than the 10kph forecast.

      Once I get the link clean I will be doing far more interesting flying. Gotta be able to see :)

    Rest In Pieces AR wing! I have a SonicModel Nano Skyhunter which was retired after the Horizontal stabilizer ripped off and ended in a high speed dive! LOL!

      At least it went out in the best possible way, ripped apart by speed :)

    All i can get is "dlink:messages?" with my wifi module. Ive spent days on this. Any ideas? Thanks.

      Sorry, no. I spent a long time going down the wi-fi route, ended up switching to Bluetooth which worked.

    HD recording very nice, lots of green 🤓. Is a shame about the goggle view, hope you get that sorted, must had been hard to fly.

      A beautiful place to fly. Made some changes which I hope will greatly improve the FPV. Wish I had recorded the 2nd flight, I got lower which looked great.....and a perfect landing. Next time eh? :)

    I was told you should always use 2.4 video with crossfire. Is that an option where you are at?

    • @Caroline_Tyler
      @Caroline_Tyler  Рік тому

      1.3Ghz works fine - just make sure you use a notch filter, TBS sell them.

    • @Caroline_Tyler
      @Caroline_Tyler  Рік тому

      ...and the 2.4Ghz is so busy with wi-fi etc. In the UK the 1.3Ghz is far less used ... The bandwidth available is a lot larger than North America

      @@Caroline_Tyler Are you still using the crossfire mini antenna tracker? If so can you provide some deals on your set up or base station. Thank you. Charlie. Cheers

      @@charlesmcguire9711 I've dropped doing any tracking, moving on to a more simple shotgun x-hair antenna - 13db+ gain. It has a 130 degree horizontal view so will be fine for the missions I have in mind for the planes. I'll put a picture or two on the community tab and a proper video on it later on.

      @@Caroline_Tyler I think a proper setup video is in order taking us through what you're using now why what you've used in the past and how you ended up where you're at. Think of the insightful for everybody because I think everyone probably thinks they have to go right to the tracker

    Any tips on getting this to work with the Matek boards?

    • @Caroline_Tyler
      @Caroline_Tyler  3 роки тому

      If you're using the TeleFlyTiny board in the plane you only need to connect the main power and ground leads, the GPS co-connect to TX of the GPS (the RX on your Matek board) and finally VTX out from the Matek to the video in and the video out to your Video transmitter. Work out how to power up your TeleFlyTiny board after getting the Matek and GPU running as you will need it stable and working before doing a detect on the TeleFlyTiny board. That's a one off thing that will pick up the data rate and the type of GPS antenna you have. I'll be doing more testing of both 5.8 and 1.3Ghz setups very soon.

    Did you use a notch filter on the vrx?

    • @Caroline_Tyler
      @Caroline_Tyler  3 роки тому

      Yep - the TBS notch filter. Currently I think little of the Matek 1.3Ghz receiver - of course I still have to test the larger one before I draw my final conclusions!

      So you do not think much of the crossbow mini tracker either even using mavlink to direct? By the way is there any chance you can make a play list with all of you antenna tracker videos? Great job and thank you for your time and efforts.
