Thanks Chris from Gainesville Florida. I just purchased a Zino Pro and right out of the box I have intermittent issues with the gimbal. It sometimes dances all over the place, quick little jerky movements. Sometimes this jittery movement last a few seconds, sometimes it lasts 10-15 seconds, sometimes it doesn’t do it at all. Landed on your channel while searching for a fix. I’m hoping I can correct this issue instead of returning the quad. As a new guy to the hobby it’s great to know there are guys like you out there to help us through the “process” of quadcopter ownership. I just got my Zino and it’s proving to be a good beginner drone, with a 4K camera to sweeten the deal. Thanks for help, support and encouragement 👍
Oh my gosh!!! I couldn't believe that it really worked with my faulty gimbal. Plus, it also solves the error 0x0080 guys. Thank you so much, sir. Wish all the best be with you
Very precious video,it helped me a lot today. It was pain on the brain, but with success.I went flying today and everything was normal ,but when i got home error 00800 occurred. I have to say that this tool is not stable at all,but despite everything i did it.Thank you mate
Thanks for this software, i tried calibrating without the cover and it works aswell. Also i skipped the last step calibration with the numbers because there seems to be a timeout every time I click "start". Got my drone flying witin 5 minutes
Thank you so much for the step by step calibration for dummies. This saves a huge amount of research by me. I'll give it a crack and let you know what happens after my next flight when the weather improves.
Another great video! Here is my take on the tabs: CAL GYRO - just what it says CAL ACC - 6 axis accelerometer calibration CAL HALL - refers to the Hall position sensors which are feedback for the 3 axes CAL MC ALIGN - no good guess for that! CAL ENC - sounds like Hall sensor encoders
Hello. my gimbal is with error 0x0080, how do I solve this problem? Did it break the flex cable or the gimbal? or can I fix this error only with software and firmware?
I have been following your videos and they are great if we have a problematic Zino. The Parrot Anafi version 2 looks better. I thought the Hubsan Zino would be a great alternative to Mavic Air or even the Mavic 2 but looks like we have to spend time troubleshooting and fixing the inherent bugs. We may have to wait a while longer until their production models is problem free “off the shelf”. I look forward to the day when you can say “Hubsan Zino is truly debug and problem free off the shelf...” Thanks Mate, from Australia...
As ever Chris a really helpful video, thank you....and you and your support videos are the reason I bought my Zino which has performed fantastically...even after a slight landing mishap that meant the gimbal in protection mode kept coming in for a time...but once some grass removed and cleaned it was all, good and performs incredibly well, even in winds of 15mph plus....thank you. And all the very best to you and your family. 👍
Thanks to Chris, you speak slowly and clearly that I understand every word you say, I bought the gimbal mount and the program is installed on my computer. thanks again for all your youtube episodes.
I`m having a problem with zino pro plus while trying to do a gimbal update. The gimbal update starts in the program but after reaching 25% the update just fades with the program in Zino Update Tool V1.3. Afterwards it says in the APP that the Gimbal Status has an abnormal communication and the gimbal gyro calibration says request timeout. What are Your thoughts about that kind of problem? Also when switching on the Zino, the gimbal shows no fuctioning and stays stilll.
Hey there Chris, you stated that if we are experiencing the gimbal vibrating or shaking or humming then this will fix that. What if my gimbal simply does not move or make a noise at all upon startup or while the aircraft is powered on? Also, while following these using the gimbal tool software, each time I "start" a calibration, the gimbal still does not move PLUS I get a "timed out" error on the gimbal tool software. Thanks in advance for your expertise. You're the greatest, Chris!
Chris glad to be a member I order a Hudsan Zeno Pro from Hudsanus and got it in but i am going to send it back to Hudsanus for repair or replacement. The camera works fine I just can not adjust the up and down of the camera. the zeno pro works fine and flies great. Got and suggestions? Tks Ron Williamson
Is this a potential problem with Hubsan drones - specifically the new Zino 2+ I just got? Will I end up having to do this in future and does this cover work on the 2+ - or should I simply not worry about it until it should happen. Scared of even taking this thing out of the case and trying to set it up. So many issues that so many people have puts me off even trying. Might sell it and go for a DJI Mini 2 or wait until later in the year for the Mini 3 they say is on the soon-to-be-released list - so I've heard. Anyway thanks for your posts. Lots to learn indeed.
@@QCGUY Well I ALREADY have it. It's been out of the case twice but just registered it and trying to learn how to fly using a cheap mini drone I bought for low price. Just afraid of sending $500 bucks to it's death sooner than I should ya know?! Thanks for the response sir.
Hi Chris, you gave me some great advice a few weeks ago that this should fix my hubsan zino pro's very erratic gimbal shaking. Every step of this works except for the first one; when I do CAL GYRO, it goes for a few seconds and then on the tool it says time out error. I've tried restarting all devices. Have you come across this? Thanks very much.
Yes and I have helped others who asked the same question. Most have found that they have the quad in a bad location on a metallic table or magnetic object. Mine will fail in one area of my desk but then work perfectly on the floor away from everything. Sometimes you just have to keep hitting the button again after several timeouts and then all of a sudden it takes.
@@QCGUY You sir are an absolute legend! It worked perfectly! I can't believe I've successfully replaced and calibrated the gimbal on my drone. It's literally all thanks to you and your expertly detailed videos. Thank you so much, you've absolutely made my day.
Thank you for this video. I did not even know that you can calibrate the gimbal this way. I thought that the only calibration option was the one from the application on the phone. Which options can I calibrate without this special cover? I am happy to buy it, but delivery from China will take 2 months :(
Some people cut a hole in the gimbal cover that cam with it and secure it that way and then use this method. It can take several attempts but it can work. I would use the tool in order that I showed you not just bits and pieces of it. Thanks
Hi.....First of all Great video....I have problema with my zino1 praticaly I have shaking video when fly...I Need to do this procedure ...buy I haven t this gimbal that you use....It can be fine whitout or create a gole in the original gimbal cover for make this procedure???? Thanks

Hi Chris I have a problem with my hubson zino pro..The gimbal needs adjustments..Did calibration and it didnt work, changed the gimble cable and it also didnt help. Is there any way I can send it to you so you can fix it for me?
Hello Chris, question sir, this calibration software tool can be usted on my hubsan ACE SE R?, because there is no tool for my ACE SE R at the hubsan support page; and can be usefull the zino's gimbal protección tool for calibration on my drone?
Hello, Happy New Year everyone. Btw, am waiting for the delivery of my zino pro. Should I also have to do calibration for gimbal and all once I get it out of the box or is it already ready to fly... Sorry, just excited for its arrival and to fly it... :)

It is a very informative video. I have used the gimbal tool, the in app calibration and the cable re-positioning. But I have no luck on fixing the gimbal. Any other recommendations?
@@QCGUY No I haven't. These cables are very sensitive and the procedure to change them is possible to add more problems to the current situation of gimbal. So there is nothing else that can be done except the change of the cable?
@@dimitristris8889 I replace about 4 a week between the gimbal and camera cables so for me it’s a simple procedure but I haven’t seen your problem or any details so I can’t say for sure what you need. Some just need this calibration but can’t get it to take and then after sending it to me I get it first try.
@@QCGUY pretty difficult to send it to you, I am from Greece. I have done plenty of fixes in smartphones and computers, so I will have to find time and will to fix it. If it does not get fixed then no worries, I will buy a proper drone. I feel that this is not good drone. It is not that stable and lacks the optical flow that is very helpful for beginners. But the worst thing is that hubsan gives you a very bad battery charger that makes batteries fail after charging them no more than 10 times. Also congrats to you for the other video about the balance battery chargers. Unfortunately I found your videos after my crash and the problem about the gimbal. I am thankful about not injuring anyone and not damaging others property. This drone is a cheap craftsmanship by all means.
Hey again. Thanks for the great content. I just got my zino pro and It has a problem when I was flying pretty fast and recklessly in a 6 knot wind the gimbal locked and rolled with the drone a few times. I'm wondering is there is something software related I can do to fix this problem or I'm just flying way too hard.
Aren Watson I don’t think so but then again I don’t have anything to go by like seeing it or knowing your firmware but this would be something to share in a group for answers.
Hey there... Will this also help for a not horizontal gimbal problem? I have done the gimbal calibration inside the hubsan app a dozen of time, but as result the video is a little bit (i think 2-4 degrees) turned.
Mankie's Workshop yes it can help but not in all situations. The unfortunate thing about these birds are several can share the same problem but not the same solution. I however have worked on some and fixed The horizontal issue with the gimbal.
@@QCGUY Get my cover a few days ago and made the whole process like you. Sadly it doesn't helped for wrong horizon: ua-cam.com/video/A4VjjKmMAg0/v-deo.html Do you have another idea to correct the gimbal? Mankie
Mankie's Workshop First off blow your gimbal out with compressed air like from a can. The joints can collect dirt and such so that won’t help. Then do a horizontal calibration on a perfectly flat surface before doing this again. When doing this make sure every axis point is level and hold it steady. Try that and let me know. 👍
Thanks for the video. I have the Zino Pro Plus that gave error 0x2000. In your other video I saw that the gimbal cable had to be changed. Once the new one is mounted, the error it gives me is 0x0002. Do you know what it can be?
Hi Chris, thank you for this video. I ordered the cover and followed the instructions exactly as described. Unfortunately now after finishing the process, I have got an gimbal error 0x2000 on my Zino Pro and I am getting the failure message " The gimbal angle sensor is abnormal" I have redone the process, tried to reinstall drivers. Nothing help, now the gimbal is dead and I am unable to do anything about it. Would you please have any suggestion what to do? Thanks a lot
2000 without a doubt is bad or disconnected gimbal flex cable. They can fail for what seems like no reason at all. If you have had it apart it might not be connected to the board. If you haven’t had it apart it most likely needs a new cable. I do a few of these a week sometimes.
@@breadelicious8354 If it moves in the calibration program then it may be a matter of completing the calibration successfully. It can take several attempts. You have the correct gimbal calibration cover right?
@@QCGUY Yes right the one you recommended. I noticed that when I do the ACC calibration, the numbers pop up in a different order than on your video, I however follow the positions as you show in the vid. Not sure if this can make a difference
Thanks for the good guidance, Chris! My Zino had a shaky gimbal that only acted up in flight. As you know, when the drone turns left or right, the gimbal moves the camera a little in that direction. In my case, the center point of my gimbal was a little too far to the right, so it behaved normally on the ground, but a turn to the right or some wind turbulence was enough for the camera to hit the stop on the right and cause some shaking -- it drove me crazy! Two questions: 1) How come Hubsan doesn't have this stuff on their website?! I sure can't find it; the only place to get this info and the software is from you! (Same thing about "unbricking" the controller.) 2) I know the Zino 2 can't use the same gimbal cover tool -- where can I find the new tool, and will the Zino 2 have a different calibration software? (probably)
David Blakeman Sorry, I cant figure them out on the lack of communication. As for the Zino 2 we will have to wait and see what they come up with there. Thanks
Thank you for your great video. I am sorry but have a question. I think the gimbal gyro of my zino is defective. What parts should I replace? I've already changed the ribbon cable, but it's not. Is it a cylindrical part with a camera lens?
@@QCGUYThank you for your answer. Umm. . I thought there was a separate part called GIMBAL GYRO, but now I think I was wrong.Should I change the img cable to a new one?
Thanks for the procedure. My problem was it would only initialize occasionally on startup, and I'd have to repeatedly restart it until it succeeded. (The look-up/look-down initialization would fail, and leave the camera pointing in an odd direction.) I bought the calibration cover and followed the procedure. Not sure that helped but in reading elsewhere, it was suggested that debris/dust may be preventing the gimbal motor from moving properly. Where I fly we have iron in the rocks, and it sticks to motor magnets, so I took off the camera heat sink, blew into the gimbal housing with canned compressed air. It seems to be working better, so fingers crossed.
Great video, Chris! Gimbal tool has been ordered, and calibration software has been downloaded and unpacked. I noticed at the end of your calibration demo that the video shows you stopping the software, unplugging the drone, and then removing the battery. The video jumps just before you removed the battery -- did you turn off the drone first and the video skipped that part, or do you indeed remove the battery while the Zino is powered on? I'm thinking the former. Thanks!
John C Hi Chris, I just ordered my first HUBSAN, the H-117s ZENO Friday. I've been watching/saving all of your U-Tubs I can find. Just ordered the cal. gimbal tool and downloaded the program. I noticed down the comments a guy had a problem opening it. I double clicked it popped right open then after a single click worked. I'm a DJI guy Phantom 3 w/ARCteck antennas, have my C.D.P.L. I use the LITCHI app, can it be used with the ZINO? That app is the best thing since sliced bread. Oh yeah, by the way, folks need to be watchful of HAWKS etc. one grabbed my Phantom right out of the air but I found it using the LITCHI find my drone setting radar took me right to it about 1-1/2 mi. from my location. Had to replace the gimbal, props, Thanks for all you do
John C You are well prepared 👍 The problem with the file is some are not downloading it. They just try to open it or are doing it on a phone and Apple products don’t work either. You do have to use the Zino app 👍
@@QCGUY Thank you for the reply Chris. I noticed that in your distance test wit the ARGtec mod. you were using the the 10 GBBL antenna which is good for way points, flying behind you etc. But for distance the flat panel 6 GBI works better for some reason according to ARGtec. I've gone out to over 5,000 ft. with my phantom 3 standard with it, and around 4000 with the radial. I have an extra flat I can loan you to try if you'd like. I'm not so much a distance guy , I'm happy with 3500 ft. I do quite a bit of personal way point flying. Thanks again for being here

theflyace This can’t hurt but have you changed all your props even if they look good? You could also have a loose or damaged gimbal dampener or something else you should do is take a can of air and blow out the moving parts of the gimbal. You would be surprised what a spec of dirt can do. When you say calibration I assume you mean you did the horizontal calibration on a flat level surface?
@@QCGUY Of course, also in my mind there was the doubt about the dampers, so few days ago beforfore the crash i've dismounto the gimbal (without disconnectc any flat cable) to investigate some mechanical interference or failure of the dampers ... they seem OK ... anyway i' ve ordered a set of four .. and soon i' ll gone to replace those items. My dear friend. At last I was able to receive the tool to calibrate my Zino but… at the end of the calibration, in the ACC calibration, after giving starter, it keeps constantly calibrating the XYZ axes, in status 1 but it does not start to give the order 5 to start setting the different positions that you explain so well in the video. It stays that way forever. I have tried several times, I have even downloaded the program again .... nothing

Hi Chris. I purchased a second hand Zino a few months back and after updating the firmware I crashed it. Only then did I discover your excellent videos and your warning of caution before firmware updates. I then bought a seconf hand Zino Pro and now I get a "Calibration Failed" message after running the calibration. @@QCGUY Had to get it from China in the end but arrived today. Got a Time Out message at the first stage but carried on and it looks like it's worked. I'll try and test it properly tomorrow (If UK weather will allow).
@@QCGUY Sadly it didn't work. The camera works up and down and tilt but is very loose on the sideways rotation. I'm hoping that it's nothing too serious as I don't want to be taking it apart.
I don't recommend you do it just like this guy but he has the right idea. The only thing I strongly suggest you do differently then him is unplug and take the micro board out before making the adjustment and move it in smaller amounts then he did because you can easily go too far. hi, i have a zino pro and the gimbal when i turn on the drone it tilts to the side and stabilizes during flight but it takes a couple of minutes. Would this be solved with your software?
Jorge most likely but first thing I would do is make sure you’re cables aren’t loose out of position causing a bind and blow out the gimbal with a can of air.

Does the horizon stay level? Thanks.

If this is your problem you definitely need the tool to do this so place that order and wait it out. Sorry If it is something else I would need to see video from the quad and know what firmware is in the quad. Thanks
It can take multiple tries but it's not a fix all so if there is something wrong with your cable for example then it will time out and never do the calibrations. I can't say for sure without seeing a good detailed video though.
I, I've made the setting of the lense this morning, and it improved the focus by turning it clockwise a little, but now, when i turn the drone on it, the horizon, don't stay horizontal unlike before, It's tilted. I've tried to calibrate the gimbal many times. The process was successful, but the problem is still there. What can i do to correct that. Is there something to do with the firmware updates? Thank you.
I just received my Hubsan Zino Pro, I am reading the manual I down loaded to do the horizontal calibration it says to go to settings cog, followed by”Other” to get horizontal calibration, I can’t get to this part called other. What am I doing wrong? Also having a time keeping it connected to transmitter, by the way what is leas? Is that where I should be? I believe it the default. I have had it connect on occasion and everything works but I thought the initial bind should keep the bind . Somewhat confused a video on this would be appreciated!
Are you in my group? This is a lot to answer but there are different disconnects so it's easier to discuss in my group. LEAS is the transmission and yes you want that.

QC, the first step calibrate gyro, would I keep hitting start if numbers were off until desired results?
Fred L. Only if they are far off but you shouldn’t have to if it’s level.
Thanks Chris, finally got my cover and was able to follow this process. Appreciate your efforts.
Gimbal motor cable needs replaced. That’s why it’s not moving and that’s why it won’t communicate to do a update.

It’s built into the app now but go with your gut if you’re uneasy about buying it.

Hello, will it work for zino pro plus?
Yes it does 👍🏻
Hi Chris, you gave me some great advice a few weeks ago that this should fix my hubsan zino pro's very erratic gimbal shaking.

Thanks

Do you have another idea to correct the gimbal?

2000 without a doubt is bad or disconnected gimbal flex cable. They can fail for what seems like no reason at all. If you have had it apart it might not be connected to the board. If you haven’t had it apart it most likely needs a new cable. I do a few of these a week sometimes.

Chris, does this also apply for the Zino 2?
Alexis Beltran nope 👎
Chris, is this the same calibration tool for the Zino pro ? (v 1.1 ) ? Thanks , Harry the Netherlands.
sorry, y see the answer, thanks
Thanks for the good guidance, Chris! My Zino had a shaky gimbal that only acted up in flight. As you know, when the drone turns left or right, the gimbal moves the camera a little in that direction. In my case, the center point of my gimbal was a little too far to the right, so it behaved normally on the ground, but a turn to the right or some wind turbulence was enough for the camera to hit the stop on the right and cause some shaking -- it drove me crazy!
Two questions:
1) How come Hubsan doesn't have this stuff on their website?! I sure can't find it; the only place to get this info and the software is from you! (Same thing about "unbricking" the controller.)
2) I know the Zino 2 can't use the same gimbal cover tool -- where can I find the new tool, and will the Zino 2 have a different calibration software?
Why do you think you have s problem with the gyro?
@@QCGUYThank you for your answer. Umm. . I thought there was a separate part called GIMBAL GYRO, but now I think I was wrong.Should I change the img cable to a new one?
@@구오오-o4m how about you tell me what is not working and what error messages it gives you?
Thanks!
David Blakeman It’s not that critical but just turn the quad of and do everything else in whatever order you wish. 👍

Neil Grew Its easier to see what it’s doing or not doing. Go post a video in my group where others have had the same problems. facebook.com/groups/HubsanQC/?ref=share
I have the same issue, it says gimbal sensor can't be detected. I would really like know how to fix it.
Hello, have you solved the error0x2000? is that I do not have Facebok, and I want to know how to fix it
No,did call hubsan they didn't have much faith.I did call the supplier in China and gave them the error code and they sent me another free of charge, and have original for spares.
I think it gimbal lead thats dislodged
Hi QC and thanks for all your videos and tutorials. I have a Zino Pro and I crashed it, after that drone is no longer stable. Ive changed propelers, do gimbal calibration, calibrate compass, horizontal... several times. But its usntable. I wonder how can I do a IMU calibration of the Zino Pro as the App for this drone has no option (it exist in App 2.0 but its for Zino Pro+). Can you help me? Thanks in advance
This software will do a IMU in the last step that’s basically what it’s doing by zeroing everything out. It works for the Pro…
@@QCGUY Thanks for the fast reply. I'll try it asap. Regards
Hi again, Ive gone several times trough the calibration process and found that MC ALIGN step does not work completly, gimble moves first to left ok, but cannot do the 2º and 3er 45 angle movements, at the end it moves ok camera up&down. Rest of the calibration steps looks to work fine. Do have any clue about how to solve it? Maybe a new gimble?
@@belzoni1 first thing I would do is check that gimbal motors cable connection. Then if not a bad connection replace the gimbal motor cable and try again.
Hi Chris thanks for the video, i tried to do cal gyro in order to eliminate small vibrations in video recording but the result i have now a shacky gimbal, i think i have to do the whole process but i have not the cover tool (and it is now very difficult to get from China) Have you a suggestion? Bye.
If this is your problem you definitely need the tool to do this so place that order and wait it out. Sorry
If it is something else I would need to see video from the quad and know what firmware is in the quad. Thanks
@@QCGUY Thanks for the reply i will order , wait and hope someone near me can share one . firmwares: gimbal 3 0 2 2 FC 12 05 IT3.6

Thankx, from Germany, you make great videos
Hi I have a calibration in the section CAL GYRO writes Time out error. Can you tell me what this means?
It can take multiple tries but it's not a fix all so if there is something wrong with your cable for example then it will time out and never do the calibrations. I can't say for sure without seeing a good detailed video though.
i don't have UA-cam Premium so I don't have your description tab. how else can i find the gimbal tool software?
It’s there and in the first comment no matter if you have premium or not. Look at the top comment.
So, this is not intended for the Zino Pro, correct?
Miller Ingram It works for the pro as well now.
thank you very much criss, I really appreciate it
I,
I've made the setting of the lense this morning, and it improved the focus by turning it clockwise a little, but now, when i turn the drone on it, the horizon, don't stay horizontal unlike before, It's tilted. I've tried to calibrate the gimbal many times. The process was successful, but the problem is still there.
What can i do to correct that. Is there something to do with the firmware updates? Thank you.
Tatou2B Sounds like you disturbed the cable connection. Post it in my group with a video.

Is this a FB group? I 'd like to join.
