Thanks Chris from Gainesville Florida. I just purchased a Zino Pro and right out of the box I have intermittent issues with the gimbal. It sometimes dances all over the place, quick little jerky movements. Sometimes this jittery movement last a few seconds, sometimes it lasts 10-15 seconds, sometimes it doesn’t do it at all. Landed on your channel while searching for a fix. I’m hoping I can correct this issue instead of returning the quad. Hopefully I can locate one of those plastic calibration covers, the one in the link you provided is sold out.

Yeah it sounds like they didn’t calibrate it correctly in production so I would do the calibration software with the tool ad you mentioned.

Thanks for the procedure. My problem was it would only initialize occasionally on startup, and I'd have to repeatedly restart it until it succeeded. (The look-up/look-down initialization would fail, and leave the camera pointing in an odd direction.) I bought the calibration cover and followed the procedure. Not sure that helped but in reading elsewhere, it was suggested that debris/dust may be preventing the gimbal motor from moving properly. Where I fly we have iron in the rocks, and it sticks to motor magnets, so I took off the camera heat sink, blew into the gimbal housing with canned compressed air. It seems to be working better, so fingers crossed.

Thank you for this video. I did not even know that you can calibrate the gimbal this way. I thought that the only calibration option was the one from the application on the phone.
Which options can I calibrate without this special cover? I am happy to buy it, but delivery from China will take 2 months :(
Some people cut a hole in the gimbal cover that cam with it and secure it that way and then use this method. It can take several attempts but it can work. I would use the tool in order that I showed you not just bits and pieces of it. Thanks
Hey chris. Hope you had a good weekend. How can i get in touch with you? i want to talk to you about sending you my zino. I have 50 + flights was perfect. Did not cash did mot get rough, drop it nothing. I took a flight stopped to switch batteries but lost fpv when i repowered the quad and now a week or 2 later i try every day. Aircraft does not show in transmitter connection set up. The gimble on power up works as normal i went as far as to check all camera connections. I did all firmware updates thinking it was like. Dji wont fly without updates. Lastly zino does not show in any of my phones or computer or tablets wifi networks pages.
This worked perfectly....just whe i thought I was gonna have to buy a new drone. Thank you thank you!!
Chris glad to be a member I order a Hudsan Zeno Pro from Hudsanus and got it in but i am going to
send it back to Hudsanus for repair or replacement. The camera works fine I just can not adjust the
up and down of the camera. the zeno pro works fine and flies great. Got and suggestions?

I have been following your videos and they are great if we have a problematic Zino. The Parrot Anafi version 2 looks better.
I thought the Hubsan Zino would be a great alternative to Mavic Air or even the Mavic 2 but looks like we have to spend time troubleshooting and fixing the inherent bugs.
We may have to wait a while longer until their production models is problem free “off the shelf”.
I look forward to the day when you can say “Hubsan Zino is truly debug and problem free off the shelf...”

I tried to open the calibration tool file but I keep getting a message saying windows can't open the file. I tried using open as administrator and that didn't work either. I even created a dropbox account and I still can't open the file. Am I missing something or is there a newer file? Also I went to get the cover tool, of course it's out of stock so I created an account and put it in my wish list. When I open the list the cover is there but it has EXPIRED printed across the picture of the cover. Do you know if it is still available or if that means I can't get one? Thanks.

I`m having a problem with zino pro plus while trying to do a gimbal update. The gimbal update starts in the program but after reaching 25% the update just fades with the program in Zino Update Tool V1.3. Afterwards it says in the APP that the Gimbal Status has an abnormal communication and the gimbal gyro calibration says request timeout. What are Your thoughts about that kind of problem? Also when switching on the Zino, the gimbal shows no fuctioning and stays stilll.
Gimbal motor cable needs replaced. That’s why it’s not moving and that’s why it won’t communicate to do a update.

Anyone can help? I ran this tool with no luck, started with error 0x0004, after this tool its 0x0800. Now I ran sensors part of this gimbal tool, and even tho my drone is stationary, the acc (accelerometer) numbers on all axis were constantly changing without even moving the drone. Gyro sensors were standing still at 0 0 0 on all axis. I believe that might mean that I got busted position sensors? Also gyro and other calibrations needed 2-3 attempts as it was getting timing out error. Any ideas?

After I done the calibration and went out with the drone and about 40% battery the Wi-Fi on the drone kept on disconnecting and it kept on flying up until I managed to connect it to its Wi-Fi and finally landed it do you know how to fix it?

Good, very good. My issue is that after a crash i notice that even if everithing seem to work good ... mean it' s fly good, it' s record good as previuos tha crash .. something in the stabilization seem to have problems ... during recording, the vids are jally during fast mooving of the aricraft in any directrion. I've perform many times tha app calibration but it' doens't fix anything ... Do u think i must try this ... and have chances to have succesful result ??
theflyace This can’t hurt but have you changed all your props even if they look good?
You could also have a loose or damaged gimbal dampener or something else you should do is take a can of air and blow out the moving parts of the gimbal. You would be surprised what a spec of dirt can do.
When you say calibration I assume you mean you did the horizontal calibration on a flat level surface?
@@QCGUY Of course, also in my mind there was the doubt about the dampers, so few days ago beforfore the crash i've dismounto the gimbal (without disconnectc any flat cable) to investigate some mechanical interference or failure of the dampers ... they seem OK ... anyway i' ve ordered a set of four .. and soon i' ll gone to replace those items. For the propellers ... it was the firs thins i' ve done after the crash ... but !

My dear friend. At last I was able to receive the tool to calibrate my Zino but… at the end of the calibration, in the ACC calibration, after giving starter, it keeps constantly calibrating the XYZ axes, in status 1 but it does not start to give the order 5 to start setting the different positions that you explain so well in the video. It stays that way forever. I have tried several times, I have even downloaded the program again .... nothing

Replace the cable and then see from there. You will likely find other errors are related and go away.

Very precious video,it helped me a lot today. It was pain on the brain,but with success.I went flying today and everything was normal ,but when i got home error 00800 occurred. I have to say that this tool is not stable at all,but despite everything i did it.Thank you mate

Chris, thank you for your instructive videos about HUBSAN ZINO and I really appreciate your expertise. I got one ZINO 1 a couple of years ago. It was good at the beginning and I had fun flying it. Then the problems started to emerge: first the batteries just died even tough looked fully charged. I solved it after I looked at one of your videos and making the modification for a regular Lipo 3S battery. Now I have another problem: the camera on the gimbal started to limit the up-down movement and then stopped reacting at the remote's camera wheel command. It continues to takes picture, tough. I have image but the gimbal doesn't work at all (maybe a small movement on the startup). The application says gimbal error 0x0080 and then it changed to 0x0200 (not 0x2000 !). From time to time a "barometer error" appear on the screen, but disappear on restart. The drone flies well, but the camera is in a fixed position. I have the calibration gimbal cover (thanks to your recommendation on a video seen a year ago) and I did all the steps for re-calibration. At CAL MC step, gimbal was moving in all directions proving that the motors work. When calibration finished, I restarted the drone, and after a small up-down movement of the camera, the gimbal went limp. I did the calibration a number of time with no success. Please tell me what should I do? Thank you for your time!
Ox0200 is a hard one because it can be either a cable issue or board connection issue. I always recommend changing the gimbal flex cable and usually that is the fix. Hope that helps 👍🏻
@@QCGUY Hello Chris! I ordered the gimbal motor's flex cable and change it. The first error that appear on the application was "the gimbal angle sensor is abnormal" and on gimbal tab it's says "error 0x0080". So, I did the gimbal calibration (BTW, the CAL Gyro was taking 10+ times until I got an acceptable 0,3,0 and finish. The rest were "Time out" trials). At the end I started the Zino and gimbal is not working (at the CALL MC ALIGN all the gyro movements were ok) so the cable and the motors are working). The gimbal is limp and the app is saying "Error0x0200" like it was with the old flex cable. Please tell me what should I do next? Thank you!
(PS: the problem appeared not due to a crash. Zino was flying and I observed that I haven't full angle up-down control of the gimbal, from the remote wheel. The next flight was without gimbal stabilization and control. Just the image was working ok).
@@corina2610 sorry without seeing it first hand it’s hard to say exactly if you have already changed the cable, confirmed all 3 axis motors work and tried updating the firmware again. That’s all I can tell you without having it in my hands. Sorry

CAL GYRO - just what it says
CAL ACC - 6 axis accelerometer calibration
CAL HALL - refers to the Hall position sensors which are feedback for the 3 axes
CAL MC ALIGN - no good guess for that!
CAL ENC - sounds like Hall sensor encoders

Zino pro gimbal works fine but the controller button push gimbal calibration it will not calibrat locks up restart drone then works fine.

Just have hade calibration. But in ACC Calibration, all buttons disabled. Calibration starts and never ends... Is it gyro mulfunction?
Mikhail Vershkov I suspect your seeing high numbers in the acc calibration? It will then timeout correct?
Generally that’s a issue of surrounding metal objects or magnetism.
It certainly could be a bad gyro but has there been any screen prompts of abnormal gyro activity?
@@QCGUY yes, I had had gyro calibration many times, to get a suitable result. But always stopped when all results will be less then 3. And one more, few times I was able calibrate ACC. But I had had different sequence. 5,1,4,2,3 and stucking somewhere in the middle with timeout error. Nonetheless zino flying and gimble stabilized video good.

Is this a potential problem with Hubsan drones - specifically the new Zino 2+ I just got? Will I end up having to do this in future and does this cover work on the 2+ - or should I simply not worry about it until it should happen. Scared of even taking this thing out of the case and trying to set it up. So many issues that so many people have puts me off even trying. Might sell it and go for a DJI Mini 2 or wait until later in the year for the Mini 3 they say is on the soon-to-be-released list - so I've heard. Anyway thanks for your posts. Lots to learn indeed.

Hey Chris hope your weekend was great but my question is, is there a way to get all of the firmware updates, tools, and step by step procedures up to date on a flash drive unit either from you or HUBSAN? If from you what size of flash drive can I send you? Or does HUBSAN offer one at their price? Reason I’m asking is that my job has created a lesser work force & has me & other co-workers working the O.T. By the time I catch it on the tube I’m out like a light with tablet in hand sleeping. Chris, what about (in the case of your old one that I now have), I'm getting a "The gimbal angle sensor is abnormal" error in the app and the gimbal pitch control isn't working any more? I DO have camera, but no gimbal pitch control; this just started happening after I updated the firmware for Hubsan's most recent, from their site. I also see an "Error 0x2000" in the gimbal calibration area.
I have version ZINO_G_V3.0.2.13 installed for the gimbal and Zino_IT_V0.3.6 on the drone itself.
Flight control software shows as Zino_FC_V1.2.11
Sorry I just saw this but your cable has decided to fail and needs replaced if it’s code 2000. It happens and is most often the case.

Chris after I got it last November December time cuz I was a backer i this mess , I went out and got a hard case with foam and customer my zino for travel and the storms came and pretty is been work work work just enough time to pay bills and some videoed and then bed time you know the drill. This weekend it’s pretty much catch up

Hi Chris, Does this also work for the EXO Blackhawk Pro 3, which is a Hubsan Drone? I have done the Error Code 0800 calibration through the App on my phone and the gimbal is still not operational. No, I did not crash it. It worked fine yesterday, today it is not working at all. Thanx.

This is a great Video, i have a Hubsan ZINO PRO +, and i crash it, after a small repair on the back of the GImbal, i receive error 0x0800, i leave the drone for a few months and now trying to fix it, i receive error 0x0002,
i start triyng to make the Calibration, and on the MC ALIGN the gimbal doesnt return to the center and fisnih as your video.
Also the CAL ACC never starts.
I just order both Flex Video and Motor, also the calibration tool.

I tried to do the calibration as you explain, but in the second step (CAL HALL) it gives me State: -31744. What does it mean? Is the gimbal broken? Thanks.
During Cal Hall I have never had a error so I'm not sure but then again I mainly use this after replacing cables for people so you may have a bad cable but not a broken gimbal.

Hey again. Thanks for the great content. I just got my zino pro and It has a problem when I was flying pretty fast and recklessly in a 6 knot wind the gimbal locked and rolled with the drone a few times. I'm wondering is there is something software related I can do to fix this problem or I'm just flying way too hard.
Aren Watson I don’t think so but then again I don’t have anything to go by like seeing it or knowing your firmware but this would be something to share in a group for answers.
My numbers come up in a different order on the final step - do the numbers match to the orientation in which you need to hold the drone or do they just indicate next step ie. I use the same order as yourself? Thanks for creating this great video ….. possibly saved my bacon!
It’s changed a little depending on the quad but it’s not important just so you follow the order.

Sub 33 It can take several attempts as it’s easy to do wrong but try a horizontal calibration on a flat level surface.
Level counts in most of your calibrations like these.

If it’s just the tilt check that connection to that tilt motor on the gimbal.
Warning you can ruin it very easily and have to replace the complete gimbal cable if not careful.

@@yanicksavarzeix3364 No you can do that part alone without a cover. That is the IMU calibration portion pretty much. I would do the calibrate gyro first and then the Cal ACC.

Hey there Chris, you stated that if we are experiencing the gimbal vibrating or shaking or humming then this will fix that. What if my gimbal simply does not move or make a noise at all upon startup or while the aircraft is powered on? Also, while following these using the gimbal tool software, each time I "start" a calibration, the gimbal still does not move PLUS I get a "timed out" error on the gimbal tool software. This is great info. I'm about to buy a used pro and the seller says it is showing an "abnormal communication" error. He said the camera is shaky. Will this fix it?
It most likely needs a cable but not seeing it myself I can’t pinpoint it by your description only. 👍
Thanks for the video. I have the Zino Pro Plus that gave error 0x2000. In your other video I saw that the gimbal cable had to be changed. Once the new one is mounted, the error it gives me is 0x0002. Do you know what it can be?
Calibration tool needed
Hi I have a calibration in the section CAL GYRO writes Time out error.Can you tell me what this means?
It can take multiple tries but it's not a fix all so if there is something wrong with your cable for example then it will time out and never do the calibrations. I can't say for sure without seeing a good detailed video though.

Using the original gimbal cover defeats the purpose. If that was good for the gimbal then they wouldn't have made a special one to do the job.
Thanks for this software, i tried calibrating without the cover and it works aswell. Also i skipped the last step calibration with the numbers because there seems to be a timeout every time I click "start". Got my drone flying witin 5 minutes

I just crashed mine today and i have that problem, but also the gimbal gets really hot, do i need to replace it??
alvarez462 Don’t keep powering it on. It’s getting hot because the motors are working over what they normally would.
If this is what yours needs I would get the tool and do the calibration.

Hello, I tried calibrating the gimbal. However once I start the process the program says "Error time out" I tried switching the USB cable or powering on/0ff the Zino, even different USB ports and I keep getting the same massage. Any ideas why is this occurring?
Do you have a gimbal error code in the app when connected to the quad?
@@QCGUY it used to. Then It went awy. Then I noticed whenever I power the Zino the camera's lense doesn't activate. It stays limp just like when its off. For example the Zino used in this video, the camera's lense flips from the back to the front. Mine doesn't do anything. I still have an image display when I'm connected.
@@LocsPapi8910 that’s why you’re not able to calibrate with the software because your gimbal cable is bad most likely. One of the connectors could be disconnected which for you would be the connection under the side of the gimbal that is perfectly flat. Remove that cover and the cable plugs in under it.
You should have a error code in the app though…

I've made the setting of the lense this morning, and it improved the focus by turning it clockwise a little, but now, when i turn the drone on it, the horizon, don't stay horizontal unlike before, It's tilted. I've tried to calibrate the gimbal many times. The process was successful, but the problem is still there.
What can i do to correct that. Is there something to do with the firmware updates? Thank you.

Gimbal tool has been ordered, and calibration software has been downloaded and unpacked.
I noticed at the end of your calibration demo that the video shows you stopping the software, unplugging the drone, and then removing the battery.
The video jumps just before you removed the battery -- did you turn off the drone first and the video skipped that part, or do you indeed remove the battery while the Zino is powered on? I'm thinking the former.

What brand card reader do you use for your Zino to download videos? My iPhone will not work with reader I purchased ! Something is not right!
I don't have a link but mine is a card reader that has a lightning connector on one side and then the usb on the other so I can pull from my phone as well as a micro sd card. It say Dooter Card reader on it but I can't find where I got it. lol

Thanks for the good guidance, Chris! My Zino had a shaky gimbal that only acted up in flight. As you know, when the drone turns left or right, the gimbal moves the camera a little in that direction. In my case, the center point of my gimbal was a little too far to the right, so it behaved normally on the ground, but a turn to the right or some wind turbulence was enough for the camera to hit the stop on the right and cause some shaking -- it drove me crazy!
Two questions:
1) How come Hubsan doesn't have this stuff on their website?! I sure can't find it; the only place to get this info and the software is from you! (Same thing about "unbricking" the controller.)
2) I know the Zino 2 can't use the same gimbal cover tool -- where can I find the new tool, and will the Zino 2 have a different calibration software? (probably)
