Do you mean your pliers? Make sure you are using good quality stainless steel pliers and try to use a light touch. Some people put painters tape on their pliers to avoid scratching.

Hi Karen: I use Artistic wire by Beadalon. The copper wire was a generic bare copper wire that was given to me...no brand name.
