I met a good friend online who was crazy about the PS Vita, we used to talk about that console all of the time for some reason. I think it was just cool, it felt like bringing a full blown modern console around with you sometimes.
The Vita blows anyone that uses it away. The expensive memory cards, exorbitant game prices for handheld ports at the time and Sony's lack of 1st party support unfortinately sealed the trooper's fate... for AAA gaming at least. Thank god for the passionate modding community.
I just bought a 1000 after my 2000 got fried. I have a switch with Retroarch so you'd think that would be enough, but no, I had to get a vita again. Now I love my switch, but you really can't beat the Vita's size. Plus the sheer amount of emulation available on it is insane. And it's hard to believe that it's over a decade old at this point.
Absolutely love the VITA! always thought all the new device are too heavy to carry around. The VITA is just the right size. Also didn't know about N64 emulation and the all the ScummVM window ports, would love to know how they run. Thank you, also amazing video!
Hey, thanks for the video, I enjoyed it a lot :) I'm thinking about buying a Vita for emulation, I do have a Steam Deck and I agree that it is absolutely excellent, but I feel that the screen is actually too big to enjoy handheld games so I'm looking for something to fill that gap. Thanks for mentioning the D-pad, having a good D-pad is absolutely critical for me!
Way ahead of its time, amazing piece of hardware that never really got the love from devs or Sony themselves that it deserved. It’s worth getting one for the psp library alone. Add Killzone, uncharted, persona 4, little big planet Vita, MGS HD collection, Borderlands 2 and more and it’s an awesome little device
good video, nicely done! i got into the vita in 2019 and in terms of build quality, screen, games available (love the psp backwards compatibility, too) and modding options, it's the ideal handheld for me personally. on the topic of the missing r2/l2 buttons i would suggest a grip. on the vita i use for pc remoteplay via moonlight, i have one that says "top player" in the front and is arround 30 bucks, which is a great solution and also not as expensive as those hori grips. played steam games and even cyberpunk 2077 with it.
I am interested in upcoming ports: Knights of the old republic 1-2. You did not mention Max Payne, Dead Space, Mass Effect, Backstab and Baldurs Gate games which are already ported to the system. Vita is alive ❤
I ignored the Vita always. But... 2 weeks ago I found a lot of videos and I looked up what colours exist. I found the God Eater 2 Fenrir limited edition vita 3000. I ordered it. It is in pristine edition and just so beautiful. IT IS SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY ON THIS SYSTEM. I will buy about 50+ games because I wrote all down I want. I prefer to collect physical. Can't wait to get all of them ^^
I love the PS Vita, no matter how many time pass. It's beautiful and powerful. Really awesome video you've made, Emily. Agree with every single detail. Love it so much! 😊✨

I really enjoyed the video, we seem like we are the same person, just different gender, different country :D My only con in my vita is the clicky buttons. Being a PlayStation guy since I remember myself, I like the buttons like in the controller (and the PSP as well). The tactile feeling is something I can't get over. I play it, I enjoy, but man...If it was only like the PSP buttons..
Your channel is more appealing and informative than 90 percent of some of these reviewers. You are so unbiased you actually play games and have a passion for them and have all the systems and consoles like my self. I dont know why all the this vs that. Each gaming device gives a whole different level of experience. I cant wait for these big developers to start making good games again aka ff16 and stop with all the half ass games with 10 dlcs at launch with a million micro transactions.
I love the PSVita! I sold mine and a while library of cartridges when I moved across the country then had to pick up the OLED one when I learned about what the community is doing! I havent done much more tinkering in the past year, but so much has happened since then. cant wait to add some scummvm and PC ports now.
I recently purchased my first Vita and im amazed at the quality of the console and the games are amazing. Much more premium feel to it than the switch. I enjoyed this video thanks 👍🏻
by the way i'd recommend playing the native port of mario 64 it has native widescreen and is just better than playing emulated hope this helps :) since oot was decompiled a year or so ago i assume that'll come up eventually
highly recommend looking into sd2vita(no more proprietary memory card crap), theres also plugins for the vita and adrenaline that are very handy and not mentioned here. cheat menu for both vita and adrenaline popsloader(allows the ability to run any build of the psps OS(fixes audio tracks in twisted metal games)) overclocking for the vita, the ability to output video via the charge port,+ bluetooth controller support for multiple people for a switch like experience. fixes the lack of l1 r1 you mentioned. either way awesome video
Omg you just reminded me of the ps1 mini game whist loading, although it's a vague memory of it i still am hell bent on check it out. Also road rage i completely forgot about that. I recently got a ps vita and luckily i have access to a lot of games through a very easy video i followed on youtube. Super cool
Great video! The most underrated racing game of all time on N64 is Extreme G. Such a great racing game. Made me think of it when you said you liked racing games with a twist.
I love my Psp with all the emulators on it for n64, ps1, c64 and snes or at least I did until I saw this. The Ps Vita looks so much better! I think I need to step up my handheld console game🤯
Good video. I had a vita before but sold it when i got my steam deck. Now, im looking to buy another OLED version because i dont really like carrying my steamdeck around everywhere. Its too big. So the vita will be for basic emulation and home brew games on the go. Since it fits in my pockets nicely, even in a small case.
I loved the vita I put so many hours into persona 4 golden. Those crazy ass memory cards and Sony seeming to ditch it was it downfall. Now with handheld gaming PCs on the rise sony couldn’t give another go of it. Side note can we please get gravity rush on steam sony!!!
Duke Nukem 3d is a really good shooter on the vita sticks feel really nice you can tell they put some work into it. For homebrew if you haven't tried The Hallway it's not bad made me jump a few times playing with headphones in lol.
The Playstation Vita is the best handheld system I've ever owned I love everything about it its fun and awesome Ps vita is all I need I don't need the others or don't want them as well

i had a vita and psp games keep the original resolution and the vita is just such a step up that it doesnt look great. its just so cumbersome that i dont recommend people going out to buy one. if you already have one then you should definitely pick it up again
I stopped using the PS Vita for emulation ever since the Retroid Pocket 3+ came out. Since GBA, PS1, and PSP look far better upscaled on the device. The Ps Vita definitely has a solid library, some of which are exclusive to the Vita.
Just bought another one recently and it's a winner for me because of those classic ps1 games the ones I totally play to death like Mgs 1 Tomb raider 4 and I lost tomb raider chronicles on ps1 and Sony says ps1 classics coming and I got TR chronicles thanks to psvita. One game I would die for a psvita version would be the orange box imagine playing Half life 2 on psvita!!! 5 bloody awesome games in the orange box. Psvita was far better than original in many ways. Psvita can play the ps4 games like The last of us God of war and even uncharted 4 then relax with Rayman legends. My only gripe is the back screen with I felt prone to scratches. I would love to have seen Ps home on psvita as it was great on ps3 and singstar on psvita would be awesome and even acorn meadows Park. A lot of people left ps3 when ps home was shut down but psvita could have it and it would have been great. I'd say psvita is still well worth buying 8n 2023!

Another hardware flaw is honestly the low volume speakers. Even at max all the games sound too soft. Great thing that the vita has Bluetooth and headphones port though.
Just wanted to say for retroarch on the vita, do not play ps1 games on retroarch on the vita since its doing emulation in comparison to adrenaline which is natively running on psp via the psp emulator. There are a couple games that are not compatible with adrenaline but 99.8 percent of the time using adrenaline to run psx games natively instead of emulation via retroarch.
So in this current timeline. I can play ALL the Nintendo platforms except Gamecube, and probably a few select Sega ones. Can play Ps1 and PsP and the vita games (don't know if you can use the physical cartridge slot). Added with being able to play portable, windows, games too?
Love my Vita and always look forward to playing it but nothing is better than a portable PC. I have a GPD Win 4 and the Vita is only better in respects to battery life and MAYBE the OLED screen on the original model but the Win 4's screen is stunning in its own right regardless.

Hello, it is not bad system, but only for ps Vita and psp games, OLED version is not worth it, slim model is way to go. For emulation device is not worth it, it has problem emulating gba advance, not worth for harder emulated systems.
