You covered a lot of ground, because there was a load of ground to cover. Thankfully, most people aren't shooting beyond their calibres happy range. When shooters do then they need to up their technical game to reach out to those extended longer ranges that bring their own set of challenges. Why shooting stays always interesting.
You spoke about edge to edge clarity. If I put an angled base on it allows me to zero with my erector tube angled more up instead of the center of the tube, that's how it gets more adjustments. But in some cases would that leave you zeroed more on the edge where clarity isn't as good? So basically if you don't need thebextra adjustments, would it be better to just run a flat base and get thr best part of the glass to be used as your zero?
I have access to 500ish yards as the max I can routinely shoot. I have enough adjustment in the scope to get to 1100+ yards with the factory 0 MOA base. Is there any negative to using a canted base if it's not really needed for where I normally shoot?
I'm surprised adjusted able based that are used to do all the adjustments aren't more popular. Leave the scoop alone and use the base to make adjustments..... Please reply why that isn't the case....
This is so timely! You often make videos over exactly what I'm working through.
I’ve picked up several of the 419 mounts this year. Totally agree, the quality, modularity, and price can’t be beat.
I have a set Area 419 ring the fit and finish is extremely good. Thanks for the video. Be Safe.
You are always truly worth listening to. Thank you.
Best explanation I’ve ever seen on this, thank you it really helped !

Just had this discussion with a friend. Thanks for the clarification of this Ray.

Clearly explained as usual,, thanks !
Great video. Learning!
Excellent video as always. You could get a couple of pointers on scopes from Cyclops Joe's history of scopes video tho. 😉🤣😂
Very helpful. Thanks.
That's some great info
Area 149 mount is SO MUCH BETTER than Badger!!! Badger is more expensive and not machined even CLOSE to the Area 419

I messed up in my original comment, Ray... my rail originally was a 30 moa base, not 20 moa. It is now a 40 moa rail

For a basic cantilever with no Mounting options. Check out the Discoveryopt scope mount one piece 20 MOA. For the money you cannot beat it.
Please write a book, you have so much information and explain it so well.
