My '65 Valiant with a slant 6 is stored outside all winter in upstate NY's harsh winters. In the spring, I hook up the battery that was on a tender all winter and pump the gas pedal twice. It starts right up year after year. I love this engine!
Not gonna lie out of all the people posting car stuff I really really like your channel because you seem to be fairly professional without even noticing 😅 like your work always looks solid when your done and I really like that about your channel
Love the old Coronet! My first car was a 66 Coronet 440 two door hardtop 318, automatic transmission, no power anything, AM radio, and heater. Once I put a chrome air cleaner on it, dual exhaust, glass packs, and chrome tips I had the perfect car.
My uncle had one he passed down to be years ago. Still at his house. It has a 440 in it and a 4 speed. I got it when I was 15 and still have it and I'm 31. Definitely one of the nicest 4 doors made in 1970
Yes! Good to see a Wednesday video. Seems like all the car channels have been dropping on Friday so this is nice to watch during the middle of the week. :)
Dylan. I love the basic 4-door sedans of the late 60’s and 70’s. This Dodge looks pretty good considering it’s been sitting outside. Please continue to bring these awesome videos and I’ll definitely keep on watching.
31:02 YEA!!! CLINT EASTWOOD, JEFF BRIDGES, George Kennedy and Catherine Bach! Movie 1974 THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT!!!!! HITCHHIKING RABBITS IN THE TRUNK SCENE!!!!!
way back in the day (mid 80's) my buddy had a dodge dart swinger with the slant 6 and a 3 speed on the tree. he beat the crap out of it and it eventually lost second gear so he just wound out first until it floated the valves and then shifted it into third. he did that for years and the engine never failed. slant 6 engine will not die.
That is awesome mate! even it it is short on options it's still a cool car! I've never really understood the 2 door versus 4 door thing , I would be happy with either 🙂
Seems crazy how good the outside is and how ruff the interior is in comparison I was excited for you till you opened the doors..still a good looking ol car!!
My favourite part of all these roadsterations are the brakes and drum rebuilds, no matter what type of vehicle I love it when I get to see the brakes and drums.
Dylan this brings me back to 1987 and 2 firsts for me my first MOPAR and my first big block I ever owned. I bought a 69 Dodge Coronet 4door sedan for 75.00 bucks with no engine or transmission it was a 318 car. One of my buddies had a 70 383 2 barrel and 727 out of a 70 Chrysler Newport that I bought for 100 dollar bill. That I turned into what I called Grandma’s Grocery Getter. It was Turquoise with black interior white wall tires on black steel wheels dual exhaust she ran great and even turned a 9.79 in an eighth mile. I would love to have another one and build it with some modern technology like EFI And 4wheel disc brakes and 15x8 MOPAR cop rims black of course with 225 60 15’s. And for dual exhaust Borla XS pro mufflers. Love the Tennessee State Trooper look it fits perfectly with your fleet. Eddie Patterson Silverstreet South Carolina.
Yep, started right up. The old Leaning Tower of Power does it again! That's a good honest car. They don't make good honest cars anymore. Glad this one's back on the road 👍
WHat I Love Seeing is you boys learning Three on the Tree what I thought would be lost....Is great to see be revived!!!!!! Dylan I know you have done it before. Still!!
The Slant 6 was one of the best engines ever made. Reliable and durable....I knew a guy with a Dart that put over half a million miles on the original engine and it still ran great. They were practically indestructible.
Always loved these 1970 4 door models, especially the some what low trim manual ones like this, I hope you hang on to it, I know I sure would if I found one.
Your clips are getting better and better man, keep it up. I really like the fact that you are super technical but can simplify the terminology a little bit, but not that much to make it too easy. I binge watch your videos quite a bit, even watching the same one a couple of times.
My grandpa ran a Coronet for 35 yrs before selling in about 2005. He was obsessive about maintenance, so it still looked and ran perfectly the day he sold it.
Wow, Dylan, I love how you made this a police car. And did some what of a car chase! Before I started watching this video, I was looking something up and saw a picture of this car sitting in your shop, and I thought you had got another police car. Then I watched this video and saw that you turned this car into a police car. I said to myself, "Wait a minute. Was that the same car that I saw on Google?" Apparently, it is the same car. Awesome job.👍
The 225 slant 6 is one of greatest engine of all time!!!! I drove to Alaska in a 1969 Plymouth Valiant ,that engine ran like a top and purred like a kitten it started every time, and got fantastic gas mileage.
Dylan, really enjoy your vids.I am 72 years young and have owned a few of the vehicles you have brought back to life. Would love to see you find a good 65-66 Mustang to get back on the road, had one of these also that was Ford green. My favorite of all time. Also enjoy the helper you brought on,seems like a great young man ! Wish you all good success and continued growth for the future!
I had the anti-chatter springs in the clutch on my 1972 Dodge D-100 pickup come out and lock up the clutch. Same drive train as this sedan. Repair shop said they had never seen such a failure. Worth checking.
That's a nice Coronet. At 47:50, Briar commented about the cramped area on a 225 slant 6. I had one and I agree that all the necessary items: distributor, plugs, fuer pump are jammed in the wedge side. Hardley any other items on the wide side.
That 225 slant 6, with its clattering valve train and exhaust manifold leaking "ticks", bought back many memories. As a child, already starting to get interested in cars, I did my first valve lash in 1975 on our 1968 Plymouth Valient's 225 slant 6. With the engine hot, valve cover removed and the engine idling (splattering oil), I recall adjusting the intake valves to 0.010" and the exhaust to 0.020". I still remember the "feel" of how the valve train forcefully moves while you slip the feeler gauge above the valve tip and how, when adjusted properly, the engine would misfire. You could theoretically get a tiny increase in power by using 0.008" and 0.019, but I couldn't really feel any power increase... We replaced that '68 with a brand new 1978 Plymouth Volare station wagon. This time with the "high performance" Super-6. The Super-6 came with a 2-barrel carburetor but actually had less power than the 1968 Valient's single barrel carburetor when stock. The Volare wagon didn't have many options but did have the "heavy duty" 8 ¼" rear end. I replaced that with a used 1979 2-door Dodge Diplomat. The Diplomat was one of my favorite cars, and I put over 800,000 km (500,000 miles) on it, delivering pizza and packages. It also had a Super-6, but unfortunately had the weak 7 ¼" rear end that failed around 150,000 miles and I ended up replacing with the 8 ¼" that came out of the Volare wagon. Oddly, it had that small engine but was loaded with just about every available option, including power everything, like the leather seats and windows, and it had cool looking rally wheels, etc. Those slant-6 engines were incredibly reliable and with the timing advanced and recurved, plus an adjustable vacuum advance optimized for timing advanced cruising, a free flowing exhaust and a tight valve lash, those slant-6 cars weren't fast but were peppy enough to make ideal daily drivers (and for pizza delivery). They even got impressive fuel economy for the day (close to 30mpg on the highway).
Solid coronet Dylan, runs surprisingly well! I don't think I have ever seen a clutch disc just completely crumble like that and a fuel tank u can remove nearly without removing the straps 😂😂😂😂, man that tank was literally like a sheet of paper!!!! The leaning 6 in a row ready 2 tow's are hard 2 kill!!! Thanks for the entertainment Dylan n Bryer, appreciate u both tremendously!!++🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
hearing that inline 6 man, sounds great, just a bit quiet. if this ends up being made more powerful, I hope it goes well. inline 6s can make power, from the jaguar xk to the nissan rb, they just work, and they sound great when they do it. hope it revs high and sings.
Nice job 👍 20 years ago I did the same on a 64' Impala 4 dr sedan and transform her in a Cali Highway Patrol. Real fun car. Keep up the great content ... really like your channel.
Very cool.. I built a 66Ford Galaxie 500 4 door 390ci into a Mayberry looking police car but in Virginia I wasn’t allowed to have anything on the doors visually that claimed law enforcement of any kind.. sheriff, police, state trooper, etc.. (or blue lights/yours are red👍) hopefully Tennessee isn’t that way, I’d hate to see Dad pulled over😂.. cool build Dude!!
Growing my parents had a 1970 Dodge Coronet, brown with brown vinyl interior. I don't remember if it had carpet or rubber mats. It was a 225ci slant six with a 1 bbl and a automatic trans. They also had a 1964 Dodge Dart, white with a blue vinyl interior and rubber floor mats, under dash dealer installed A/C and it came with no radio but my dad bought a scratched AM radio over the counter and installed it. It had a 170ci slant six with a 1 bbl and a manual choke and a 3 on the tree. Dad customized it with a aftermarket rear window defroster and a hood lock after someone stole the battery once. The Coronet got replaced with a 1979 Dodge Aspen green on green with a 225ci slant six and a progressive 2 bbl with a automatic trans. The Dart got replaced with a 1980 Plymouth Horizon, the early ones had the 1.7L VW engine, not the later 2.2L engine, it had a 2 bbl carb.
You had me at Coronet.
Me too!
😂
they had me when they lowered it and then decided to paint it up like a Police cruiser
That's good😊
You Two Kill me.......The tapping of the Light before hot pursuit was PRICELESS!!!!
My '65 Valiant with a slant 6 is stored outside all winter in upstate NY's harsh winters. In the spring, I hook up the battery that was on a tender all winter and pump the gas pedal twice. It starts right up year after year. I love this engine!
Same with my '64, western MT.
Nice! I had a 65 dart, slant 6.
Definitely hard to kill the leaning 6 in a row ready to tow!!!
Not gonna lie out of all the people posting car stuff I really really like your channel because you seem to be fairly professional without even noticing 😅 like your work always looks solid when your done and I really like that about your channel

My father had its twin, a 1970 Plymouth Satellite 4dr. Same color with the 318 V8. Built like a tank. Good luck with the Dodge.

Cant wait to see this thing alive!
Another hidden gem rescued by Dylan ❤

I’ve always loved the look of the cornets/super bees
Always loved the headlights on these!
I don’t like many 4 door cars but I have to say I really like this one!
That is awesome mate! even it it is short on options it's still a cool car! I've never really understood the 2 door versus 4 door thing , I would be happy with either 🙂

70 coronet is the front end of them all :O
Super Bees face ...horse collar bumpers are the Bees goggles rims...valance is it's mouth...grimace & all...

Babe wake up, new Dylan McCool just dropped
Dylan kinda seem obsessed with police cars. Need to drop a Hemi in it. Looks impressive. That slant 6 cylinder are awsome. Thanks for sharing!
💯👍👊
Yep, started right up. The old Leaning Tower of Power does it again! That's a good honest car. They don't make good honest cars anymore. Glad this one's back on the road 👍
Well done with the safety glasses! Thanks for being a solid role model!
0:20 heck yeah. nice intro, love me a dodge! what a beauty.
WHat I Love Seeing is you boys learning Three on the Tree what I thought would be lost....Is great to see be revived!!!!!! Dylan I know you have done it before. Still!!
Absolutely love how these beautiful old cars are restored and put back on the road. Thank you Dylan. Cheers 🇨🇦🇺🇸👍
You got that dodge looking good and running smooth keep up the good work and keep bringing them old cars and trucks back to life
'70 Coronet, one of my favorite cars !!
I got even more excited about this car once I seen that it had the slant 6!
The Coronet turned out awesome cool and with one of my favorite engines, Slant 6. Loved the video Dylan and it brought a big smile on my face 😃👍
Howdy from south central Texas 🤠
Love the way it came along car looks great and purrs down the road
The Slant 6 was one of the best engines ever made. Reliable and durable....I knew a guy with a Dart that put over half a million miles on the original engine and it still ran great. They were practically indestructible.
Darn you are holding out on us , I see a yellow Barracuda over on the side...
Always loved these 1970 4 door models, especially the some what low trim manual ones like this, I hope you hang on to it, I know I sure would if I found one.
talk about memories! took my drivers test in a 1970 coronet 318 car my grandfather bought new.
A cheap old spotlight for the A pillar would be cool. 😊🚨 I like those Coronets. 👍👍
Your clips are getting better and better man, keep it up. I really like the fact that you are super technical but can simplify the terminology a little bit, but not that much to make it too easy. I binge watch your videos quite a bit, even watching the same one a couple of times.
Good to see you back bud
That and the 1970 thru 1972 hidden headlight Fury's are my fav Mopar front ends of all times.
I think it is cool you are teaching a young man to drive a Three on the column car.
We need more of this in our hobby. Budget builds, getting them back on the road and yes, saving the sedans! Great work, as always.
My grandpa ran a Coronet for 35 yrs before selling in about 2005. He was obsessive about maintenance, so it still looked and ran perfectly the day he sold it.
Hi Dylan from west Alabama

Dylan, cool car for your Dad! He will love it! Great job!!!
I dig these kinds of videos. Thanks guys great job.
Power Tour Car 2024!!!
Dylan you're the best. I'd love to see the metal work and interior refresh. Ebay budget restoration!
1970 Dodge Coronet. Awesome. 👍

What a great looking rig, nice job on the paint and effects!
I had the anti-chatter springs in the clutch on my 1972 Dodge D-100 pickup come out and lock up the clutch. Same drive train as this sedan.
Repair shop said they had never seen such a failure. Worth checking.
Smokie and The bandits❤
You guys made it look really good, and it is running too, ya can't beat that😊

Beautiful car. I had a 1970 Coronet 440 as a teenager. Sadly it was rear ended and totaled.

Good Evening Sir , it is nice to see you again today Sunday the 11th at 9:38 pm my time here in AZ 😊 !
Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about. Old Coronet to Trooper mobile. Love it
That thing is sweet wish I could find cars like that up here in Wisconsin
Another nice car Dylan don't know where you find all these cars but you do well with them
Can’t believe how little you spent on that revival and how cool it now looks! Great job guys!
1970 Coronet is one of my favorite cars. Pretty hard to find.
this car reminds me of my childhood, my dad had a 70 coronet, going to school everyday. so awesome!!
Nice Dodge coronet Good.job cool show 😄👍👍👏👏👏
The old Cornet/Super Bees are my second favorite Dodge car. For me 3.5 Gen Charge SE is my number 1.
Solid coronet Dylan, runs surprisingly well! Great video you are a cool team 😅
The 70 front end is my favorite
Love to own that 70 coronet just the way it is
That car deserves even more love.
Very interesting 🧐, I really like the new look 😀. Great 👍 content guys 👏.
Nice job Dylan& breyer
Hey Dylan. It’s Randy in Chattanooga. Try filling that tank up with gas. Looks like it might leak a little. LOL!!!
So cool love the look of it big old boat 😊
This was great... another neat car back on the road!
I noticed the green Polara at the beginning. Any new plans for that one? 🏁
hearing that inline 6 man, sounds great, just a bit quiet. if this ends up being made more powerful, I hope it goes well. inline 6s can make power, from the jaguar xk to the nissan rb, they just work, and they sound great when they do it. hope it revs high and sings.
Many years ago I had a 1962 Plymouth Savoy with a slant 6. That car was as solid as it could be, it was built like a tank !
That is a lovely old car, great save, a stereo and some seat covers, you have a superb daily driving classic ❤
You should put Pusser For Sherriff on the back glass.
Nice job 👍
20 years ago I did the same on a 64' Impala 4 dr sedan and transform her in a Cali Highway Patrol. Real fun car.
Keep up the great content ... really like your channel.
Didnt know that could be done. Never saw a 64 chevy patrol car
Any chance you could make a video?
@@ginowagonucci it was not built according to an original. it was just for fun. As I said, it was already 20 years ago.
Really cool old car! Can’t wait to see what your plans are with it!
Love the front end on that Dodge. Wow!
So much nicer on the outside than the inside
Back when I lived in NJ you wouldn't get 2 miles without getting pulled over for impersonating a police officer. Not sure about TN though.
Growing my parents had a 1970 Dodge Coronet, brown with brown vinyl interior. I don't remember if it had carpet or rubber mats. It was a 225ci slant six with a 1 bbl and a automatic trans. Looks like it needs a big block and a 4 speed , 15 x 8 steel wheels in the back with the full wheel covers. Sleeper city.
Love the old Coronet, great video as always👍
That was an awesome build!!! 👍👍👍👍 1:14:25
This is a keeper!
I love the old Marshall County tags. You should add a big ole whip antenna on the trunk lid for the look.
Soooo much like my '67 Coronet (440 trim package) my first car; the same setup! Man, I need this ole girl...❤
Yes! As soon as I saw it was a 70 coronet 4 door I thought it needed to be an Adam 12 car. But this works too.
Slant six with a three speed awesome Dylan run forever!
