Hi guys,
In todays video I wanted to show a method known as dropshot fishing. This is a really effective way of catching perch, it keeps the lure in the kill zone for as long as possible, giving the perch a chance to take a bite at your lure. I hope you enjoy this video, it was a fun session to film.
Kind regards
Senan

My dropshot rod will come in next week. Can't wait. Will be such a nice break from carp fishing on the float. Great, great video. You're the first I see holding the braid with your finger. Such a smart move. Great fishing mate! Cheers from across the pond.
Thanks for watching! The perch fishing is really fun, keeps ya active, definitely without holding the braid on the finger, you’d miss those little delicate taps, on cold days it makes a huge difference 🙏
Class vid senan. Few days ago I bought the gear for this and I’ll hopefully get to try it out when the exams are over. Wish us luck
Good stuff Oscar, I’ve no doubt you will catch, let me know how you get on 😎
How did you get on?
Didn’t catch a thing 😂 but I’ll stick at it!
Started drop shot fishing three years ago . Great craic when you get on them . Even when I'm deadbaiting from the boat . Some nice perch🐝 there S 👌
It’s good fun isn’t it Richie 🙌 they can be tricky at times, but it’s always a good tug of war on that ultralight gear 😁🙌
Really good video pal , one of the best your technique is consistent, cheers, will give it a go soon
Legend, thank you for watching! 🎥
It's nice to catch a perch now and then
Super fun in the winter months when there’s nothing else to do 🥶🎣
great vid senan, i see you're a finesse king- in regards to the hookup itself, are you letting them nibble for a few or is it a strike on first tap?
As soon as I feel the vibration with my finger on the braid I’m setting the hook, well that’s always the aim 😀 depends on how awake I am , you know yourself 😀 , setting the hook fast makes sure they don’t deep hook themselves 👏
Thank a technique I must try. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Robert 🙌
@@senanstanleyfishing the perch where I am look like something from fishing with Mr Crabtree illustrations. You had a good day there for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing.💪
🙌🎣
Hi Senan great video whereabouts ya living I’m in Leitrim myself I’m fairly new to dropshot and jig fishing getting a few but plagued with pike lol
Ive never noticed the gill's flairing out like that before. Im waiting on a bfs baitcaster, can wait to do some perch fishing here in Scotland
It’s good fun on that super light tackle 👌
Grate fun when day is so short, but never no no perch ❤❤
They are savage little predators 🔥🙌
We’ll lad, I’ve been trying to get into fishing but having no joy catching. Just trying lure fishing with the young lad so far. Been trying to find good spots from land to fish. I’m from same area as yourself so wondering where this canal is? I don’t recognise it
Great video mate so my question is do u feel every bite by holding the line with ya finger??
You do with the braided line 👍
@@senanstanleyfishing thank you for a reply mate i tried drop shotting other day but i kept the line really tight with odd wiggle but got nothing at all but i was watching for bites through end of rod plus it was realy windy an i got zero bites lol so ill give holding the line a go ive got 8lbs braid to 6lbs fluro so cant wait to get back out an try this and just found your page its really helpful so far keep the videos coming 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@senanstanleyfishing well went out with my son yesterday an used your method an finally got 10 perch up to about a half a pound each not massive but was fun an my son used a 3cm shad on a jig an smashed 30 out roughly same size i mite not have caught as much but i bloody loved it ill be dropshotting forever now thanks mate but also noticed u feel the bite through the rod aswell so even better got 2 indicators 😁😁
Hi, just investigating this dropshot fishing.
Regarding having the landing net ready: You catch the biggest fish when you don't have the net ready!
Always happens when you least expect it 😉🎣 typical fishing story.
Good vid lad, is that herself on the net for ya
Oh you know it, this was our “romantic walk”, little did she know I had the perch rod in the boot and GoPro fully charged mwahaha
@@senanstanleyfishingI knew it😆, fair play to her, my missus only comes fishing when we are in Lanzorte ☀️☀️☀️🤣🤣
Has to be done 😁 she won’t come on the boat tho, but to be fair there are some abnormally huge spiders that crawl out from the outboard 😂
Thats interesting what's the reason for not using the boat in the winter I know it gets rough on derg is that why but it's pike time well when we get a break from this relentless wind.
No other reason other than the lake floods where I keep my boat in winter, love the winter weather. ☺️ I take my boat back out from February on 🎣 doing a lot of perch fishing at the minute, I’d be more of a lure and fly angler, that pike deadbaiting I find quite boring to be honest, but it’s always nice to do a session every now and again.
Perch are really tasty
