    There’s me minding own business brushing up on some angling knowledge to fish with my 6 year old after a 35 year break and what suddenly looks familiar is the location.. two places me and my mates used to regularly float and ledger for perch. I couldn’t believe it brought back some memories growing up in Newport. Out of all the places in the uk your sat on slop blank casting under a bridge like myself all those years ago. Crazy but Cool, thanks Carl

    The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

    Instead of attaching your hook with knot, try using two rubber bobber stoppers on the line, with the hook in between, facing up! The hook will always be in the correct position, and will be easily adjusted, up or down. …… I got this idea from one of your videos on how to tie a helicopter rig! Thanks!

    How to calculate your weights (and rod test): multiply depth in meters x 1.2-2.0. So @ 10m depth 12-20g sinker will be best, depending on current, wind and distance you cast (boat or shore), as well as size of bait (2” for perch vs 5” for zander).
    So if you drop shot Zander with 5” lure at 12-15m in strong current, 30g lead might easily be needed + add the weigh of the lure itself.. so it’s up to 40g at the end. If all you do is fish 4m deep canals for perch, 3-15g is ok.

    • @bugsy742
      @bugsy742 8 місяців тому +1

      The change in water clarity could well be a bad thing! Sounds as though your stretch may have been polluted. Check with your local water authority, if they shrug it off make an official statement informing them of your concerns include any fishing club and other users of the water if possible "email"
      Its usually anglers who are the first to notice water problems lets keep that up
      Good luck with your river and tight lines!

    I have a question whether the line should be taut or lie on the bottom when carp fishing in a small river?

    Would a1-9g casting weight be okay for this sort of fishing? Got my eye on the Daiwa Black Widow 😊 Many thanks.

    Question for all those drop shotters out there.
    Is there rod sleeve, that can hold a made up drop shot rod, and accommodate the short butt section?
    I’ve been looking for around 6 months now, with not much luck.
