Hi Kim, thank you 😊,! They don't get any wider then 4 feet, and about 8 to 12 feet tall. You will just need to thin some branches out to let in the sunlight and have air flow, but even that is not too necessary, it will be just fine if your not to sure what to cut
Which columnar varieties do you have, and which ones in your opinion have the best flavor? I have North Pole, Scarlet Sentinel, and Golden Sentinel (scarlet was pretty disappointing in flavor.) I'm looking to add another few trees to my small garden next spring but am a bit undecided on which ones to try next, I'd love to hear your opinions on the columnars you've tried! :)
Hello dogpup23. flavor is a very difficult subject to agree on. One thing i would say, if you have a few not so favorites, just for the sake of comparisons, keep them, they will make the ones you like that much better because you'll have something to compare against. just my though 😉
Visit your local nurseries or gardening section of a hardware or home improvement store. You can also order them online from nurseries that sell trees and plants online. There are other columnar fruit trees but they are not like the apples. Apples have the most true columnar shape tree out of all.
@@growtolearn4545 Hi, I live in Dearborn, Mi. and I look every were to find an columnar apple tree with but no success by now and I need to find one because I have one tree but I need another as pollinator. Thanks
Hi Deorani Seemungal. I would first check all the local nurseries, then if you can't find any, go online and check there. Call them up and talk to them if you need to. Most of them can send them out. They do that when the tree is dormant, in the spring or fall. Now everything has leaves and fruit. Local nurseries would be the best bet, if they have them potted.
Well, that's debatable, there are alot of variables. First, every person has a different taste, then it depends what apples you compare them to, also you have to make sure they are well ripened and had a good amount of sun for sugar. I have about 10 different varieties, and they are all good in their own way, also depends on what you use them for, basically they are no different then the regular apples tree varieties
That's relative to the people eating them. At the moment I grow 14 different apples, there is 6 of us in the family (but the 6th member, only got her first tooth so doesn't count) and there isn't a single apple in that 14 that the 5 of us all like., some have 2 or 3, but none have all 5.
Kool nice vid
Thank you Bill 😊
I'm waiting delivery on some column trees and hope mine will grow as well as yours.
Oh they will! Love these trees
What an amazing landscape! Do you have to prune columnar apples heavily to keep the shape or do they stay that way naturally?

Plz sir make a one pruning video of this columnar apple tree and it's on rootstock or seedlings
As soon as I will have the opportunity, I will surely make a video.

Did you film this in May last year? I still don’t have flowers this time of year. What zone are you in?
Hi Christian, yes, but this year we are behind by at least two weeks. It's been a cold spring.
Do you have Asian Pear trees? I wish they had other fruit trees like this.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have three of them
Where did you buy these trees? I NEED a couple! Are there other columnar fruit trees?

Hi where can I purchase this apple and where do they sell the apples

Can you prune them ?
Yes you can, absolutely
how many fruits can your columnar tree produce
I would say on a mature tree, you can get one to two buckets. Alot depends on the pollination
Grafted on which rootstock
Hello 👋, I would have to get back to you on that. Don't remember of the top of my head 😕 🙄
What zone are you in?
I'm in zone 8a Washington state
Where can I buy one columnar apple tree?
Usually most nurseries will have some or can order for you.
I want scion wood of apple 🇳🇪
Hi aPex, which one in particular?
I've heard the apples don't taste so great.

That is so true. I think that is the whole fun in growing different varieties, having different people giving different feedbacks.
@@growtolearn4545 agreed, in our garden, as long as one eats it we grow it, and so in turn we have massive variety.
@growtolearn4545 which one of the columnar species taste somewhat like a gala apple?
