I love that you mentioned that the color pattern switches every three rounds. That’s where I was getting thrown off on another tutorial I watched. Thank you!
Thank you for this video; it's so much better than the pdf. I've just learned changing yarns isn't difficult at all. I think, the hardest part is deciding which 2 colors 🙂
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I've been able to make multiple bucket hats and learn how to easily change colors!! Im such a confident beginner now! My family thinks I'm so talented! Lol ❤
I made this as a christmas present for my best friend and she loved it! I'm going to do one for every one of my close friends, I'm so happy to see them wearing it🥰
@@TabassumMehrin-t1f Hi! I honestly don't remember exactly how much I used, but you can always go for 50g or a bit more for each color to be sure! When I use only one color I need about 125g? More or less, and I make them on the medium/smaller size rather than bigger! What I do is buy 100g of each color and do other projects with the leftovers I get, since I'm still a begginer 😂
Love it! I finished my 1st checkered bucket hat and I’m proud of myself! Thanks for the well clear video and teaching on how to make it. Beautiful hat! I do crochet but I’m glad I was able to understand you clearly. Thanks!!
First of all Thank you so much for this awesome pattern, i made it for my grandson and he loves it. Now a few of his friends are asking about it. You have a gift for teaching, you explain very clearly and precise. Sending blessings your way. 😊
Thank you so much for this pattern! I started a hat this morning around 10am and at 2:30 I was able to complete it and eat my lunch! It was so easy to follow along and fits awesome!!
Easy to follow instructions. MAY I SUGGEST that for the yarns not to tangle, pick up one color in front always & the other color at the back. Try it. 😊
I love it!! My hat turned out PERFECT! I think it only took me a couple of hours to make (I kept getting interrupted but made it in one evening). Your instructions are so clear and I really appreciate how you showed several repeats of each row so that it became almost habit by the time you said to work the rows on our own. I am going to do the same pattern but use a bigger hook to make one for my husband tonight since he has a big noggin lol.
This is the first bucket head tutorial that worked for me I'm obsessed and I will definitely make a couple more 😍 I did ad 2 more rows at the top thou but I do have a giant head and It fits perfectly
this was so fun to make and turned out pretty nice! one thing i figured out (when i was most of the way done lol) is that if you only work around the non-working color every other stitch it makes it show through a lot less, especially for high contrast colors, and the strand still doesn't hang down on the inside 😁
Thank you for the video, you explained everything so well. I just started crocheting and wanted to do something as a gift for my friends. I’m sure they’ll love it once I finish. Thank you!
If you always keep one color to the front of your work and the other color to the back of your work, your yarn will never tangle. If I’m crocheting on the couch, I keep one color on the couch next to me and one color on the floor so it’s easy to remember which color stays to the front and which stays to the back.
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness sorry ,😞 in PH we can't identify of size is that. We used commonly of milk cotton yarn which is per ply😞 Like 4,5,8,12ply .
if I were to do one more increase row would I do 5 DC then 2 DC in the 6th stitch? And how would that change the squares? I need the hat to fit a 27in circumference and I don't want to frog what I've done so far but I'm worried what I have won't be big enough lol
I’ve tried this 3 times now and it was perfect once and too big the other times😅 used a 4.5 hook every time. I guess my stitches are too loose on the second two? First try was hobby lobby pearl spun. Second and third were standard acrylic (big twist + loops&threads). My hands can’t do much more and i can’t take the heartbreak of making another too big 😂 if i do less 2dc in last stitch of color think would that work in helping the width? If so what row would you recommend doing so?
Hi! If you change the number of stitches, it will change the "checker" pattern. I would go down another hook size. Or you can go down to a size 3 yarn and go down a hook size :)
This is a great video but I finished my project and it was too small so I redid it and used a size 6 hook and when I finished that it was still too small so I re did it for a third time and I used the size 6 hook as well as doing two more increases than it calls for and it was still small and I measured my head and it is at 22/0.5 inches round so i was wondering if there was anything you could tell me about maybe why it’s small every time or if there is nothing I can do thank you
Did you have a good amount of yarn left after you finished or did you use most/all of the yarn? I'm working with yarn that's a bit bigger but i'm afraid I won't have enough.
I would like to make this in two colors of Tahki Cotton Classic DK that I have for an 8-month baby. If I purchase the pattern, and then use a smaller hook, but follow the instructions, do you think this will work?
Hi! You can try and see how the crown diameter measure against the written pattern. I would guess that it's going to come out small, but it also depends on your tension.
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness Someone once gave me advice not to tighten the stitch too much because they will wavy. .. And now there are wavy because I tighten them too loosely? 😭😭

hey,may I know how much yarn would be appropriate for this? Is 50gm for each color enough or 25 gm each?

❤❤ almost done my 2nd hat in 4 days. My diameter is 7in instead of 6.5 but that's cause my tension is loose 😊
How many extra increase rows should I make for a 23 inch head circumference?
Thank you, I'm almost done with this and it's turning out so great! Fyi, I think the written pattern is missing the chain 2 for rows 14-16. :)
Thank you!
Hi😊 how many ply of yarn do you used here?I wish to make one of this❤❤

Hi! I would continue to go up a hook size. Are you measuring the crown diameter before continuing?
If you use cotton yarn it comes out smaller?
Can i use 5 play yarn pls reply ❤
Hi! I don’t know much about ply sizing, but I think it would come out too small?
this is my sons doing for his... this is hes first project 😄
hi! if i added another increase row , what pattern should i do for the brim ?
Hi! Did you changes the number of stitches per "box" in the checkered pattern?
is your cottonyarn like the popular 24/7 cotton yarn? I have a lot of that around and wonder if it will be fine. Thanks.
Hi! What I used is not mercerized cotton and a little lighter. But I think 24/7 would work great!
Did you have a good amount of yarn left after you finished or did you use most/all of the yarn? I'm working with yarn that's a bit bigger but i'm afraid I won't have enough.

Hi! I think it might still come out a bit large. You might need to take out an increase round. But this will change the checker squares slightly.
can I do this with weight 2 and 4mm hook ir it will turn out small? I dont know how to change the pattern to turn out ok..
Hi! You can try and see how the crown diameter measure against the written pattern. I would guess that it's going to come out small, but it also depends on your tension.
Hi I want to use 24/7 cotton but thats only 186 yards and I need 190 but only have 1 skein of each color...wud this be enough?
Yes, I think it would be enough
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness thanks much
Will this fit a size 22in head circumference
yes :)
How many grams of yarn did you use for each color?
Is this 100% Cotton yarn? Would like to give it a try
Yes, but any fiber would work :)
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness thank you. 🥰
How many mm of yarn? Pls!
How do I make a toddler size one?
Wat does the final result measure?
Approx Finished size (small adult) -
Length: 8”
Circumference (around base of head): 22”
I followed the tutorial to the T and it’s to big idk why .. How do I make it smaller
Hi! You might crochet looser than me 😊 you can take out an increase round it go down a hook size
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness thanks im going to try to fix it

Why did my hat start to wave? I am trying to make stitches loosely

your magic ring seems wrong? why don’t you crochet over both loops? that’s how it’s supposed to be done but maybe you do it for a reason
