Wicked video, bro! Thanks for the credit
No problem!
yes man you legend
Came here for a laugh but I was blown away by how well put together this documentary was. Been following Kersal since secondary so it's amazing to see others with the same level of interest. Keep this stuff up man, you've got talent!
Thanks man! Appreciate it :)
incredible that someone born right around the kersal massive video is interested enough to hunt down details. I forgot why I wanted to see it again and was pleasantly surprised to see you had just made this 5 days ago
Thanks man, me and my mates discovered the video a while ago and one of them suggested that I make a video on it, so I just thought I’d go with it, bit weird since I was born the same year it was published but I’ve always loved the video.
Jesus, all this effort and you're so young aswell. Was 26 in 2006 and we used to reference the Kersal vid for jokes a lot - UA-cam was such a new thing, no "Influencers" until the early 2010's, just genuine stuff like this. So they stood out more. I love it. Crazy about Little Kev. Thanks for the nostalgia blast and all that time put in!! 2004-2010 was a mad time. We had the internet, UA-cam, Facebook etc but not everyone had a smartphone, so it was still kinda an analogue world.
This is the good stuff, thanks again.
Thanks, I’m glad people are still finding this after so many years
I really miss being a late teens in the 2000s, it was the great era of the internet before too many people were on it with their phones
It was free and unrestricted. Great times. Today, the corporations and governments want to control us with it and monitor everything we do. I hope it goes back to those days with Web 3.
old youtube was gold
Damn, this guy was 2 in 2008. Feel so old now. Imagine missing the late 80's and 90's and being 2 in 08. I was 22 then and riding around the Himalayas on a motorbike
So jealous
Ez Mikey!
This is awesome. Had Kersel Massive in my head this week so watched it again & then found this. Great work!
Thanks man :)
This is up there with the Chris Chan documentaries. Holy hell, what a blast from the past. Searched for Kersal Massive on UA-cam as I do every couple of years and found this had been made. Brilliant.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Your feedback means everything
Oh yes it needs regular revisits 😂
JULAAAAY
Great video man! I remember discovering this back in '06 in high school and spreading it round my school, there must have been a thousand seperate incidents of spontaneous "Got on da bus with me day savah" that broke out that month!
Cool to see such a well thought out documentary on the subject.
Thanks, glad that people who saw the video back in the day enjoyed this :)
The greatest legend in history
True
I was scrolling through Facebook shorts and the original video popped up. My curiosity about their fate led me here. Nice one
Absolutely amazing video mate, you'll go VERY far if you keep the brilliant work up! Good job
Thanks! These comments are the best, glad you enjoyed, hope to see you around :))
Randomly had this song in my head today for no reason what so ever and thought to myself "I wonder what ever happened to these lads" ... Well, this video did not disappoint. Thanks!
glad you enjoyed it! :)
Nice video bro!! Keep going 🤘
I remember in my primary school we would always watch kersal massive videos and other viral videos on the computer😭
One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen on UA-cam, well done
Thanks, glad you like it, hope to see you around :))
@@FredJonesy you will
What an absolutely incredible documentary and piece of investigative journalism. I really enjoyed this as someone equally fascinated with the legacy of the Massive and their impact on the UK side of UA-cam and early viral videos in general. I’d love to see another one of these on Smithy Boy and the crew or MC Smally etc.
first of all, really glad you enjoyed the video, if you want more like this i have a video on MC Devvo who im sure you'll be familiar with, secondly, i've had the idea for a long time to do more videos on MC's and satire british rappers from the early days of youtube (MC Burberry, Smally, Mental, just to name a few). The plan was to do a long video covering all of them and i've still got it in the back of my mind, maybe instead they will be smaller videos on individuals but i will 100% return to this topic at some point
You’re video is one of the best documentaries here on UA-cam. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks man
Brilliant video mate, was wondering what happened to these blokes. Thanks for the info!
Thanks :)
Wow! This was great. I remember the kersal/persil thing when I was 16 and the internet was really the wild west. This video made me feel very nostalgic for an earlier internet and for my teenage years. Thanks!
glad you enjoyed it!
OK, so I stumbled across this video by complete accident, I have never been so invested in what three random kids I've never heard of before have been up to. Great vid 👍 👌 👏 😀
thanks! glad you enjoyed the video
Amazing after all these years the Kersal Massive live again
Good video well put together 👍🏼
Vid was done so well dude, amazing subscribed
thanks! glad you enjoyed
@@FredJonesy keep it up bro
holy fuck i swear this video better blow up more because this answered so many questions, really good work dude
Thanks :)
Amazing video - so many questions answered. If only the fantastic Wikipedia entry was still available - sadly it was deleted back in 2007 - I tried reposting a copy of it several times but I no longer have the text. Thanks for all the research and the great production - much appreciated! In the interests of documentary balance, a quick response from the people of Levenshulme would have been appropriate ;-)
Thanks for watching it and enjoying it, hope to see you around :))
There are numerous mistakes in the captions
But otherwise, great insightful video
Great video mate ur so under rated
Thanks :)
I watched Kersal Massive for the first time in 2009 and the Kevin Powder video is hilarious. The effort in this video is outstanding. It's great that you show the research process as well. When you're hunting for the Chris Moyles recording, you take the viewer into the journey.
Only minor criticism is you got Kevin McAteer's name wrong. It's not Little Kev', it's Little Fuckin' Kev'. Only joking haha!
Brillitant video. Well done. Subscribed.
Thanks man! I’ve made/am making more videos like this on mc’s and viral rap videos from back then that you might recognise if you’re interested! Thanks for the sub the support means everything
That was fantastic mate 10/10
Thank you, hope to see you around !!
These kids lived down the road from my Nan and Grandad’s house, you can actually see my Grandparent’s old house in the background of Kevin Powder’s video.
Wow. Didn’t expect people from the area to have found this video, hope you enjoyed :)
Ginger Joe is still in the corner
smoking the reefer
Its absolutely crazy you was born in 2006. I was born in 98 and remember these videos being uploaded.
Great video!
Thanks :)) hope to see you around !!
These kids much ahead of their time
Wicked video, glad I found this. Viva Kersal.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :))
I was 12 when Kersal Massive were massively popular and back when UA-cam was nowhere near as saturated as it is now. It’s a staple of British culture.
Props to you for a brilliantly-researched and produced video. Why do you pronounce it "Youtoob"? Is that a thing now?
I’m british that’s probably why
nah mate im english and was born in 2005 and say it like youchoob
@@FredJonesy youtoob is an American thing
masterpiece
Here is the September 2006 humorous entry that Wikipedia deleted several times. Check out the analysis of Kev's sleeve. Just remembered: The Kersal Massive merch site sold tee shirts but they refused to deliver to Levenshulme ;-) Personal favourite video: Kersal Aphex Prodigy version. Keep up the great work Fred!
==============================
'''The Kersal Massive''' are the stars of a Cult internet video. The video features three mentally subnormal children (MC Mack, Little Fuckin' Kev and Ginger Joe) rapping. The video was submitted by the three youths into a competition run by 679_Recordings, with the hope of winning the grand prize of a 'Kano' brand BMX. The Kersal Massive did not win the competition, but the video was leaked to the internet, eventually appearing on the user-generated content site UA-cam, and almost immediately began to generate enormous interest.
==Kersal Massive as meme==
Much like the Star_Wars_kid phenomenon, the original video has become a popular internet meme, generating many video responses, '' hommages'' and Spoofs, such as "The Persil Massive"ua-cam.com/video/gg2JQzDPPj8/v-deo.html, which takes the familiar structure of the original and uses it to consider the perennial modern problem of which washing powder to use. The majority of responses, however, simply add Hip_hop or Drum_and_bass backing tracks and effects ua-cam.com/video/p5-UOPZF4PY/v-deo.html.
==Cultural touchstones==
The performers are classed by many observers as Chavs. This is evident in Little Fuckin' Kev's 'Nike' brand jacket, sporting makes are often associated with Chav culture, and his decision to roll one sleeve of the jacket up to the elbow can be viewed as a take-off from famous American rappers such as LL_Cool_J and Nelly.
==Lyrics==

Yeah man, yeah man ''(MC Mack)''
Levenshulme can go fuck that shit yeah cos we know how to do it,
Kersal Massive, you know that,
Fuck.
Peace.
==Critical responses==
Much critical speculation focuses on MC Mack's choice of theme: HSBC has not commented on this lyric, and MC Mack has also remained silent, but he seems to be implying that the high profit margin from his rapping career ("An' we got the money cos we know how to rap") has given rise to the need for adequate banking facilities. Another possibility is a reference to bank robbery ('grafting'); MC Mack may simply be expanding Little Fuckin' Kev's game of '' Grand Theft Auto'', lyrically describing a scenario involving the use of a virtual car (the '05 V6 Clio twin turbo' of the second verse) to rob a virtual branch of HSBC. The performers seem too young to drive, much less "roll with them backseat hoes", and the V6 Renault Clio is a mid-engined car, possessing no rear seats for the aforementioned hoes to sit in. Renault have no plans at present to release a turbo version of the Clio, still less a Twin-turbo version. The brief episode described here seems, on a cursory reading, less than coherent, but on closer inspection one unearths the possibility that the events portrayed by Little Fuckin' Kev are the result of hallucination: after getting on the bus with his day saver and smoking a reefer in the corner, the young narrator may have been describing a drug induced Psychedelic_experience. Ginger Joe features only briefly in the video to say "Yeah man", and some have lightheartedly suggested he may be the group's manager, producer or dealer.
==Trivia==
*Kersal is an area in Salford, Greater_Manchester. In the video the '''Kersal Massive''' shout abuse at rival Manchester area Levenshulme. *According to teachers at a Salford Primary_School, Little Fucking Kev was branded a "Devil Child" before he left. It was also mentioned that his father went to prison for murder.{{fact}}

Aww, shame about Lil' F*ckin' Kev. I hope he sorts his life out.
this is underrated stuff
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Hey just to add to this, I'm like 99% sure they were also featured on Rude Tube (I think in 2008? maybe later) I'm pretty sure it did have a small section featuring one or two of them talking to the presenter though not about much (I think he may have given them a bike as well? in reference to the BMX, sadly I can't find the clip or which episode this was since it's not on any streaming services).
thanks for the info, im willing to go through to find it, ive just found a playlist on dailymotion with every 2008 episode (i believe) however before i look through it all, if you dont mind having a look to see if you recognise any of the episodes or the kersal clip in particular then that would be great, heres the playlist: www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x71l11
@@FredJonesy will do. I think a lot of episodes are missing from that list, but I'm looking at the episode titles on wikipedia to try and pinpoint the ones it might be. For anything missing I'll have a look and see if it's on Sky anytime or another reupload site. I'll let you know - I'd like to see it again too!
@@FredJonesy A quick update, there is a forum post from shortly after the pilot episode aired where a user states they had seen many clips, including Kersal, before, which leads me to believe it may have been in the pilot episode. Could well have been featured a second time later in the series though, but it's a starting point.
I’ll have a proper look through it tonight when I’m home and see if I can find it, thanks for telling me about this

yeah man probably, I think it was recorded on a phone so that makes the most sense
@@f7cjo773 good point could be
I might be imagining it, but I thought I stumbled upon a video, a while ago now, where kersal massive were invited to a tv morning show or a talk show of some kind for a short interview, and it just wasnt much there, they did not look like they wanted to be there, there was no wit, no banter, nothing. Kind of makes sense, now that you said it was a leaked video and not an attempt to be viral. Bit sad about Little Kev
i think i might know what you’re talking about, i’ve been made aware of a missing clip that involves the group, i tried my best to find any archives of it but i’m yet to find a proper version of it. I still search every now and again, and i’ll update the video of i find it

That guy looks nothing like C Mack. Great work though.
I know, a mistake I made when creating this, I thought that he could’ve resembled him but just a bit older, although looking back on it, he doesn’t at all, if I’m honest it was partly just filler for the video as myself back then thought that a longer video would seem more impressive, which isn’t true, I realise now that the resemblance isn’t really that big at all, my mistake
Big up greater Manchester
