    only have the Voigtlander 35 of all the ones shown, but this one sits always on my M8, the Epson RD-1 and even on the small Ricoh GXR. Produces just fantastic images

    I have these lenses except for the 90, and largely agree with you. Although I shoot with the 50 more than the Voigtlander 35, I love the way the Nokton renders with its imperfections. The wide circular flare, the soft onion ring highlights, the sometimes jittery bokeh, the combination of qualities creates beautiful images. Apparently it was modelled on the older Summilux designs.

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, the Nokton has exactly the imperfections you say. Is strong in price, size, character and build quality. I like the look it gives to images.
      The chrome Summicron 50 is a bit heavy, but a pleasure in all fields: handling and Image Quality. My bigger challenge is the 28, but starting to love it, is so small and pleasant to use...

      My Leica M8 - The 28 is fantastic on the M8, giving a 40something focal length. But it feels very versatile, sometimes seeming like a wide, sometimes seeming closer. On a full frame camera it's also great, but on the M8 it's an excellent general purpose lens if you like 40mm.

    • @myleicam8546
      @myleicam8546  6 років тому +3

      I agree, to me, the 28 are the lenses who goes better for "everyday use" in terms of focal length and handling in the M8. Also, I enjoy a lot the longer ones, the 90 is a joy, with creamy images.

    This was a great video. Thank you so much. I just got a second hand M8 (only 2000 shutter clicks) and have paired it with the Voigtlander (all I could afford). Now saving up for my next lens and watching this - the 90mm definitely has my interest!

      Thank you! The Elmarit 90mm is also inexpensive (compare with other lenses) Try to find it with lens hood ;-)

    I seem to follow your path in Leicas. I am selling my M8 for an M9. My primary lens is the 28 Elmarit ASPH. I also have a 21 Skopar for the M8 to give me a 28mm field of view. However, with the M9 I feel the difference between a 28mm and 50 mm is too great, so I am replacing my 50mm with either a 40mm Summicron or a 40mm Nokton. Keep up the videos. Enjoy your channel.

      Phil Chang, thanks for your comment. Have you consider the Nokton 35 1.4? I really like this lens, is lightweight, with great subject isolation for portraits and inexpensive. The next video I’m working in is about this lens

    Hello Hugo. As you know I just bought a Leica M8. I decided to buy the Voigtlander 35 1.4 lens to go with the Leica using your advice. It was a hard decision between the Voigtlander and a similar Zeiss lens, but I made my choice! Thanks for helping me part with my money! Just kidding. Cheers, Rob.

    Nice Video Señor ! A kind of affordable Leica Lens wich works perfect for me on the M8 is the 40mm Summacron - C F2.0 from the 70’s . It gives you nearly 50 mm field of view. I have also the 35mm Nokton but since I have the Leica 40mm I am not using it on my M8. It is mainly on my M2 now . I am looking to buy a 90mm but not sure wich one . My lineup for the M system so far 25mm Zeiss/35mm Voigtlander/40mm Leica /50mm 7 Artisans /50mm Jupiter f.2.0. Saludos

      @myleicam8546  6 років тому

      Thanks!! I like more and more the Elmarit 28. The elmarit 90 is not expensive and at apertures 4 or 5.6 is delicious. But it needs a lens hood, it flare. Im really happy with it. A 40mm seems perfect for the M8, 50 is a beet long. Enjoy your camera!

    Hi Hugo! Another great video^^ I am starting to use longer focal lens and I noticed that it’s harder to line up little squares on the viewfinder compare to shorter focal length lens. Have you tried using 1.25x or 1.4x magnifier eye piece? I am considering getting them, but they are pricey & don’t know whether they are worth it.

    • @myleicam8546
      @myleicam8546  5 років тому

      Thank You! Yes, I was considering for a long time to buy a magnifier, but in the end, I didn't. Still thinking about it when using the Elmarit 90, o a new-old Zaiss 50 1.5 wide open. I think it can be useful, especially a good quality one.

    Hi Hugo! Have you had experience with Zeiss ZM lenses? I’m very happy w my 25/2.8 Biogon and it’s seeing more action than Summarit 35/2.5 and my 7Artisans 50/1.1. But because it’s slow I find myself just waiting for the right conditions to shoot in order to use this lens. And I’m much happier :)

    • @myleicam8546
      @myleicam8546  5 років тому

      Hi clipsTL! I never experience the Biogon 25/2.8. I heard very good things about them. Having this focal length cover with the 28 2.8 Elmarit, a 25 is not a priority now, but I really would like to try them!

    Great video Hugo. I am now the owner of a lovely M8. I’m waiting for a 7Artisans 35mm f/2.0 ($$$!) and was wondering do I use the 35 framelines or 50, allowing for the 1.3 crop? All the best✌️🇦🇺

    • @myleicam8546
      @myleicam8546  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your comment. Id never try a 7 Artesans, anyway, probably the M8 will show the more or less 50mm frameless by default, the same it shows when you attach the Voigtlander 35mm. I hope you enjoy them a lot!

    Hello Hugo! Did you by any chance took one of Thorsten Overgaard workshops in the past? If yes, was it worth taking it? I would love to hear more about that workshop.
    Love your little M8 videos. Take care!
    Oh By the way the Elmarit 90mm lens looks like a bayonet when mounted on you Leica M8😂🤣😅

      Hello, and sorry for the delay 😅. Yes, I did participate In a London workshop with Thorsten. It was a good experience, I learn some interesting things, not only related with how to take pictures, but also how to store the photos, albums, and how to use Lightroom. Is a friendly and entertaining experience, and he is a nice guy. I think it adds a special experience to the photography journey. But they are not cheap, and in my case, I introduce the seminar into a longer holladas in London. Take care my friend!

    Have you tried the Canon 50mm f1.4 ltm aka “Japanese Summilux”? I use it on the M8 and find its very sharp and renders colors beautifully.

    • @myleicam8546
      @myleicam8546  6 років тому +1

      Not yet, but thanks for the advice, f1.4 50mm sounds very tempting ;-)

    • @johnellard
      @johnellard 6 років тому +1

      My Leica M8 For the price it is a steal, esp f1.4 on the M8. Japanese sites on ebay seem to have the best examples. There are some excellent reviews on line the f1.2 is too soft and the f1.8 not quite as sharp. It has that vintage look but a more modern contrast for a ‘60’s lens.
