I created a girl in Baldur's Gate 3, and for all the "well crafted" dialogues that this game is supposed to have, none of the guys (or gals for that matter) were hitting on me. Which is definitely unrealistic. I saw no point in seduction as I had to do all the lifting. Which is not how being a woman works in real life. Realistically, you should be able to tell if an NPC is single after 2 minutes of conversation. Or at least leverage subtle hints.

Sadly... it truly is the reality in some games =-=;; there was a game called S4 League where... the hitbox on female characters was legitimately smaller, and actually awkward to try to aim at.. because instead of having a generic body shape hitbox for guns, it followed the actual model's shape to a T -- and the female body shape had some interesting curve with the spine, so if you spun around randomly... you were harder to hit by default >
There's several reasons for a guy to choose a girl character 1. In some games, there is an advantage to playing as a female character, like Fallout's Black Widow perk, which gives a damage boost against male enemies (aka the majority of enemies) 2. Female characters are hot 3. Female characters get better customization options 4. Closeted trans woman Edit: And for me, it was all of the above.
Playing MMOs way back in the day when it was 99% dudes, playing a chick could get you so many handouts and bailouts. You didn't even have to lead them on. Just be nice.
I love that "seeing the light" in Nier Automata gets you fucking killed by A1, and a rare achievement for seeing B2. camera guy is on point at all times.
in the first MMORPG that i played (Ultima Online) I created one male and one female character. After i got much nicer reactions ingame (no matter how good or bad i played or behaved, and even when the others knew that i as a player was male) and even got some free items from others, i stayed with the female character. it also helped that there was a bug that allowed female chars to wear breast armor AND normal armor for some additional armor bonus.
I remember a couple of years ago back when I was still regularly playing Dota a friend said one of his friends wants some help to learn the game, she was pretty bad but after a while she would also start using her mic and I swear the rage against her reduced so much as soon as she made a mistake and used a deliberately exaggerated cute voice "Aaah I'm so sorry guys" I mean I have heard this being the exact opposite as well but in this case it was so funny how the same person would rage less at her later in the game as soon as she started using her mic.
I couldn't find a guild in FFXIV on my male lala, 0 sex appeal will do that. Made a fem roe and instantly got whispered the moment I spawned in the city.

After my first year of PUBG, the only legendary legs gear I got was a skirt. So, I changed character to a female, and stayed that way. The upskirt isn't near as off-putting, for me. 😂

I use female characters out of habit since Fallout 3. The black widow perk does more damage to male characters/easier to persuade. Since there are more male NPCs than female NPCs in Fallout 3, it makes sense
I use female characters because male characters are all played out. The majority of games have a male lead character, so it's just more interesting to be a female.. also people like to give you more attention and free stuff if youre playing an online game, so catfishing is pretty cool too

Real Reason : Being a simp even for in game models which are already modeled to be marketed directly to the male audience solely for this reason. There was a bit of a controversy about whether it was just a fun pop up or whether male characters actually took extra damage when shot in the nuts. I remember hearing a developer back in the day talk about how they wanted to allow female characters in multiplayer (this was like a decade ago when that wasnt common) and to make it balanced all the women were like 6' Amazonians so they had the same scale and hitboxes ad the male models

There's several reasons for a guy to choose a girl character
1. In some games, there is an advantage to playing as a female character, like Fallout's Black Widow perk, which gives a damage boost against male enemies (aka the majority of enemies)
2. Female characters are hot
3. Female characters get better customization options
4. Closeted trans woman
Edit: And for me, it was all of the above.

in the first MMORPG that i played (Ultima Online) I created one male and one female character. After i got much nicer reactions ingame (no matter how good or bad i played or behaved, and even when the others knew that i as a player was male) and even got some free items from others, i stayed with the female character. it also helped that there was a bug that allowed female chars to wear breast armor AND normal armor for some additional armor bonus.
I remember a couple of years ago back when I was still regularly playing Dota a friend said one of his friends wants some help to learn the game, she was pretty bad but after a while she would also start using her mic and I swear the rage against her reduced so much as soon as she made a mistake and used a deliberately exaggerated cute voice "Aaah I'm so sorry guys"
I mean I have heard this being the exact opposite as well but in this case it was so funny how the same person would rage less at her later in the game as soon as she started using her mic.
I couldn't find a guild in FFXIV on my male lala, 0 sex appeal will do that. Made a fem roe and instantly got whispered the moment I spawned in the city.

After my first year of PUBG, the only legendary legs gear I got was a skirt. So, I changed character to a female, and stayed that way. The upskirt isn't near as off-putting, for me.

I use female characters out of habit since Fallout 3. The black widow perk does more damage to male characters/easier to persuade. Since there are more male NPCs than female NPCs in Fallout 3, it makes sense

I use female characters because male characters are all played out. The majority of games have a male lead character, so it's just more interesting to be a female.. also people like to give you more attention and free stuff if youre playing an online game, so catfishing is pretty cool too

To be far as a female gamer I choose the most buff character I can fine or a create the most buff man (or orc) I’ve ever seen.
And men are choosing "smalest hitboxes"
Real Reason : Being a simp even for in game models which are already modeled to be marketed directly to the male audience solely for this reason. I am a character concept artist and working on a female character now and dam we make them look like super model alike idealized bodies even as a first instinct.
I'm pretty sure the larger audience is male. Probably a large enough fraction of women like looking at women too.
Bisexual woman here, I can agree that I definitely like playing as a female character. But that's because you get really cool clothes. I wish there was more games with more clothing options for women though. I'm looking at you Star citizen

There was this old online shooter called Combat Arms and male characters could get what is called “a nut shot”. There was a bit of a controversy about whether it was just a fun pop up or whether male characters actually took extra damage when shot in the nuts. Needless to say everyone started to play just the female characters 😂

I remember hearing a developer back in the day talk about how they wanted to allow female characters in multiplayer (this was like a decade ago when that wasnt common) and to make it balanced all the women were like 6' Amazonians so they had the same scale and hitboxes ad the male models
