There's several reasons for a guy to choose a girl character
1. In some games, there is an advantage to playing as a female character, like Fallout's Black Widow perk, which gives a damage boost against male enemies (aka the majority of enemies)
2. Female characters are hot
3. Female characters get better customization options
4. Closeted trans woman

@@brendant2180 when guys crawl you don't feel anything just a normal play through. But when women crawl on the ground, (neuron activated) and most guys would try to crawl as much as possible to see their ass. Or tilt the camera down.
The funny thing was- he followed the lady's order and crawled on the ground. Upon getting up he realised that- "shit, I followed her orders so easily like that".
Also, men avatars do look weird crawling on the ground. The developers should work better on that.

Real Reason : Being a simp even for in game models which are already modeled to be marketed directly to the male audience solely for this reason. I am a character concept artist and working on a female character now and dam we make them look like super model alike idealized bodies even as a first instinct.
I'm pretty sure the larger audience is male. Probably a large enough fraction of women like looking at women too.

It's a small thing, maybe, but I always love the *pop* sound when they enter the game world. And I love how they capture the characters on the downward part of a little jump. Always cracks me up. And, yes, of course: I'd rather look at a Britt character for hours playing a game.
Btw the falling down is so that game characters don't get stuck in the floor when spawning. Dropping them from slightly above completely avoids that.

Would take much longer, though, to have the same closeness to Brit's mouth movements and inflections. With the studio you can watch the video while you speak, do it line by line, and flick back and forth and check it's good. Would take so much longer doing that in meatspace.
Better would be recording Impulse Responses for the room and adding that as an effect on the studio recording.

in the first MMORPG that i played (Ultima Online) I created one male and one female character. After i got much nicer reactions ingame (no matter how good or bad i played or behaved, and even when the others knew that i as a player was male) and even got some free items from others, i stayed with the female character. it also helped that there was a bug that allowed female chars to wear breast armor AND normal armor for some additional armor bonus.
I remember a couple of years ago back when I was still regularly playing Dota a friend said one of his friends wants some help to learn the game, she was pretty bad but after a while she would also start using her mic and I swear the rage against her reduced so much as soon as she made a mistake and used a deliberately exaggerated cute voice "Aaah I'm so sorry guys"
I mean I have heard this being the exact opposite as well but in this case it was so funny how the same person would rage less at her later in the game as soon as she started using her mic.
I couldn't find a guild in FFXIV on my male lala, 0 sex appeal will do that. Made a fem roe and instantly got whispered the moment I spawned in the city.

I love this theory. Seeing the title snd thumbnail my knee-jerk reaction was something along the lines of "what on earth is this person on about??" After watching though, I'm totally on board with this! Gonna be my headcanon moving forward.

I use female characters out of habit since Fallout 3. The black widow perk does more damage to male characters/easier to persuade. Since there are more male NPCs than female NPCs in Fallout 3, it makes sense

I use female characters because male characters are all played out. The majority of games have a male lead character, so it's just more interesting to be a female.. also people like to give you more attention and free stuff if youre playing an online game, so catfishing is pretty cool too

Dragons Dogma the smaller characters actually do have a smaller hitbox but it comes with a cost. Smaller characters have less carry capacity, and are knocked around or grabbed now easily by enemies. But there is a certain enjoyment factor of making the smallest character you can and being much harder to hit while you kill giant monsters.
Honestly as a female gamer I also take the female skins. They look way better and the outfits. I love dressing my character in cute outfits
