The perfect Joel game. It frustrates the audience as much as it does him. It's very mundane and repetetive, only Joel would just play this to the end. It's a game you never heard about before and will never see again after this.
Despite the horribly slow pacing, this game genuinely has really nice cinematography and camera work in the cutscenes and I don’t know how to feel about that.
especially when mr giraffe enters loves home. I think thats the only time in the game where the slow pacing is warranted and had me on the edge of my seat. Everywhere besides that the slow pacing is insaningly boring and drags out every scene.
The sad part is that I think the cutscenes would actually be quite well paced and interesting... if they were 2 or 3 times faster. They have a genuine sense of cinematography and direction to them. The awful player-hating gameplay doesn't help either.
I'm torn between seeing this as a genuine attempt at a surreal spooky game or just an overly convoluted shitpost that didn't know when to give in and say "haha, you thought this was spooky, nah, fuck you :)"

You have a low humour tolerance - which is great. People complaining about "bad humour" is just like complaining about you being drunk after one beer. It's like "Shut the fuck up, you're just jealous because you need much more for your fix junkie" Those people are jealous because they live a fucked up depressing live. TL;DR: If you're able to laugh at anything - that is a gift. Everyone who critizes you should just shut up.
God, this game was ALMOST something neat but the pacing was just so painful. There's stuff I like in there, and I wouldn't mind more stuff from the dev if there was significant refinement, but I'm surprised Joel put up with it for as long as he did.
I think the creepy, awkward pacing was the only good thing about the game. Gameplay was really bad. This game obviously wasn't meant to be "good", but frustrating, weird and creepy.
The pacing is that way intentionally. You cannot possibly see those incredibly drawn out pauses of silence as anything else but intentional. I really like this game, and I think it is something neat and awesome, but it’s obviously not for everyone, and it’s not meant to be an amazing game, but I think it is very good at creating unease and surprise. I think this game was in fact meticulously crafted to be this way, and I love it.
I won't lie, this game is enjoyable in its weirdness. I hope the dev's future efforts will keep these crazy graphics and atmospheric music while improving the gameplay.

Journal Pages, or exposition items like them exist for the isolated horror aspect. For example, Amnesia the Dark Descent has you alone... so it has to tell it via the world... and items. Otherwise you become dependent on other characters which forces a different narrative. Basically it is just a style, and journal pages became super popular due to Amnesia's starting success... till it changed into a super hero magic power pig fighter alien baby game.

This game's actually cool as shit and brilliant. I fucking love that david lynch shit. That type of horror, where it's just unsettling, uncomfortable, weird, dreamlike, a bit awkward, maybe with some far too long pauses. That type of shit where there's no gore and no spooky jumpscare monster, but everything's just... off, and there's an omnipresent sense of anxiety and vague dread, the feeling of a nightmare or a bad drug trip, that's legit my favorite type of horror. Honestly, except for how long and samey that road part at the beginning is, how many enemies there are at the Silent Hill part, and how much goddamn health the final boss has, I'd even say the gameplay's alright.
I would definitely reduce the number of enemies in the bloody grate area. A good thing a developer can do is playtest their own game. If it is too hard for themselves to beat, even when they know all the ins and outs, then the game is probably too hard for most people to beat.
I remember when gettin' to the After Credits during the stream, with how sloggish everything was and how the meta humor made me completely Stone Faced, I randomly, (But appropriately), put on the clip of Tom Servo screaming "End" and put it on loop until it was all over...
Man, the plot of the game, I mean, the part where Giraffe is searching for Love and find her, it is very close to the plot of one short story "Okkerville river", written by one russian authoress, Tatiana Tolstaya. Even the atmosphere is close enough to the book.
