After a good old Gospel fire and brimstone sermon about sinners in the hands of an Angry God, churchgoers like my family, would pile into the family station wagon and happily head to McDonald's for a meal and after arriving back home, listen to or watch a football game on TV and feel the easy comfort of living in middle America. Life was good even kn my fathers modest income. Did we believe in hell? In the same way we temporarily believed in the scary stories on the Twilight Zone. Something didnt add up. God was supposed to be the Great Being that saw everything and knew everything and frankly, He didnt seem mad. And we didnt seem bad. An ETERNITY in Conscious Torment that we were told WE DESERVED?? My irritating but pretty good brother? My sweet little sister? My Dad? My hardworking and devoted Mom? Going to Hell? Nope, I'm not convinced. If God created us for a loving relationship, a "home together with our father" why would he put a torture chamber in the basement? Is he a Psycho God? I see beauty and I dont believe he's crazy. Someone somewhere is misreading the Bible.
