Hello all Amiga -fans :)
I think 'FAN - jokes' are becoming a meme.
Lol
Thank you for adding a ray of sunlight to a really gloomy, rainy, and depressing Friday.
Hiya Maddi ☺️ and who thought a fan direction would cause such a needless amount of comments from the last video 🙄 Anyways, very interesting having a multiple booting rom and what an easy installation as well which is nice. I was very pleased to see Mr.Neelix get some screen time and also Rich get mentioned after all the hard work done on update the wonderfully looking website. You both did an excellent job my friends. Hope you have a great weekend and l look forward to the next upload ☺️👍🏼
Amazing that these machines still carry on and all the add ons that can be done.
This is a neat kickstarter switch! Reminds me of a similar project on the c64 switching kernal roms with restore key.
My Amiga is technically always unscrewed. Mostly because it's been opened so often, over the years, the screws no longer tighten!
I like to think of it more as a "quick release" mode. 😊
i know this feeling .
Thanks as always for the video! Hi, Neelix!!
And here's a movie idea:
Fan Wars: Episode 4, A New Flow
😆
Lol!
haha
how about
Episode 1: The Fan-tom Menace
I'll show myself out....
Beauty and the beast! A600 be my all-time fave machine. I almost copped it on the low. But I wish I could find a case to
house some PI or clones init.
Yay! Ms Mad Lemon is posting regularly. You were the person who got me into retro repairs and upgrades in the first place. Now I have my own collection and I've repaired or modified most of them. Keep up the top shelf work and ignore the crazy fan people. 😀
That's touching to hear actually. Thank you! 🙂
Hahah crazy fan people, there are some nutcases around. They entertain me more than anything 😆
Great video, nice to see old computers still being strong and even upgraded, optimized!
I never hat an Amiga, but ZX Spectrum with DIY floppy tower, BetaDisk with MagicCopy function (save anytime to Floppy 1, load anytime) and also C64 breadbasket.
One hint: Blowing the air onto the heatsink is even more efficient than sucking air from it. The chip runs cooler this way. The best would be to add some spacers between the heatsink and the fan, if you can, so less whirls/turbolences substract fan speed.
I'd even give a bigger slim fan a try, because those run slower and push more air to other chips.
I took out many fans from old PC parts, doesn't have to be a new one. I also like to use 12 V fans running completely silent at 5 V.
Building my dream amiga 1200 at the moment. pistorm 32lite, full black keys and case. hard keyboard PCB instead of membrane. Wish there was a decent RGB2HDMI solution for AGA though... want to get wifi working on it too. only been 20 years in the making!
6:18 pure
I should put a kickstart Switcher in mine
Ah, the pettiness! As if those suck fans or blow fans didn't have better stuff to care about. BTW I like your IC extractor and the Weller station.
Amigas have screws? That must be one of those ultra rare finds. ;)
Hahaha :-))
If you remove the hose and shrink wrap tube from the noctua wires, it'll be much more cooperative. and also doesn't rip out the socket from the pcb :D
As a datacenter engineer, I can understand getting a little excited about fan direction. Of course, it's probably overkill in an Amiga but some of us get into the habit of making sure air flows properly to gather all the heat and such without causing conflicting airflow currents and natural convection to mess with things.
And yeah, I never completely screw together any of my projects, because I just end up unscrewing them anyway. I'm also horrible with cable management for the same reason. 🤣
I sometimes put my cpu fans on upside down. helps cool the components on the motherboard because they are not getting blasted with pre heated cpu air. instead they are getting cooler air.
i love thoes cheap ide to sd adapters. i have them in all my old laptops. even windows xp works ok on them.
My A1200 has'nt had screws in it since 2005. LOL
I hate those clips. I would have soldered the wire too.
Cool ROM switcher. I like the beeps telling you which ROM you have selected.
I agree with you about fans, as long as the air is circulating, what does it matter ?
You sound like me with your Amiga not having screws in it for years Lol!
Thank you! as long as there's air movement on the heatsink to take the heat away. It's amazing the stupid things people get really heated about.
@@MsMadLemon I see what you did there. LOL.
Is it possible to flash new rom images to the switcher in the future?
If it's an EPROM, then I imagine so. Not sure how this one is configured though.
Where did you bought this Kickstart switch?
where to buy it ?
make put double or triple pinsocet
hmm i dunno where my comments went they have been deleted ?.
i must have said summit wrong lol .. i got the info from cris edwards channel maddi . do a search for the topic you asked me about its very interesting stuff . hopefully you managed to read the original replys and there not lost too you . i think i linked to another channel video and youtube didnt like it .
@@davethorne3925 How strange, they're not held for review either? yes, eprom burning, That i've seen done before but it's the sourcing of the eproms themselves which I was asking about. You get new old stock from ebay and they are a bti pricey. Not sure where else to get them.
Thanks anyway Dave 🙂I'll have a search around.
@@MsMadLemon yeah he said he got that whole kit for $30 dollas so 10 eproms for $10 dollas sounds very cheap to me so the burner and eraser were $10 dollas each . have you tried alli * exp * res ( i think i found the word it didnt like lol ) ...... i know where i live in the south of the uk that alot of things ive tried to buy from there arnt available for delivery to me . ok ... i will go back thru my comments made and repost them ans edit the word i think it dosent like haHaHa .
ah ffs . lol its done it again
its like the electronic equivalent to tesco express lol . i think you know what i mean HaHaHa .
