Glad you’re not one of those “puts spot putty on the whole print” guys. Not only is it a waste, it’s not what spot putty was designed for.
Agreed. I mean what it's meant for is literally in the name on the freaking tube. It's called "SPOT" putty for a reason. LOL
Yeah man no way. Power tools and elbow grease work fine. Besides I don’t have an airbrush to pour it in right now 🤷♂️
These videos are definitely giving me more confidence when it comes to painting, and proving to me that I don’t need to be sanding and priming as much as I have been.
My T-800 bust is almost done, and Gonna hit it with a clear coat after chrome paining it, just to give it that extra shine.
@15:42 For flexible paint I recommend the following application: Primer-> Plastidip base -> ANY Spray Paint colour (even chrome effect) -> Plasti Dip Gloss
This took me a while to workout as I could get paint flexible after spraying over plastidip however as soon as I get the Clear Coat over it it would crack; Clear coat cannot flex. However I recently discovered plasti-dip Gloss which is their flexible equivalent of clear coat.
It does wonders staying flexible and adds protection to the paint like clear coat. Dust doesn't stick on and can be washed and waxed like clearcoat.
I still prefer clear coat for a majority of the costume, but anything flexible like foam or tpu, I'll use this method.
Is it the Plasti Dip Glossifier?
@@konior21 Yeah its the Plastic Dip Glossifier. In the past I thought it would just add a gloss effect similar to the metalliser but I was wrong. It adds a gloss layer over the paint, sealing and protecting it.
I love the paralyzing internal arguing. Very relatable
If going for the best detail in the gold, I would for sure use the airbrush. yes, you have to mask off for clean lines, but the paint used in airbrushes is so high quality, that the results will probably stun you. Love seeing the process of this build!
I literally just got my airbrush and compressor. What would you recommend I look at for paints? Premixed or mix myself?
@@JaXxX410 Depending on what you are applying the paints to, I would go with premix Createx is a good airbrush paint for general use. If you want a more permanent finish, you can use automotive paint. Nasons is a good brand. All you need to remember is making sure to get reducer for the paints as they will need to be thinned. Hope that helps!
@@XanBos I do appreciate the reply very much. I'm going to look into those paints to start. Mostly plan on using on some 3D print but I can see maybe painting some minis as well.
The roomba part threw me for six haha wasn't expecting that. Similar thing happened with my dogs it was like a horror house except code brown this time.
I’m getting a 3d printer next week because I’ve been so inspired by your videos😎 lots of love from the uk
It's so cool to see it coming together, can't wait to see the finished suit!
super excited for Silicon! Never been to a con before and can't believe my luck with so many awesome people attending! Very excited to see your booth 👍
Spot putty isn't for gaps that big. Its made for pin holes and light scratches. What you should use is Premium Autobody Filler. Its very easy to sand, and will not crack or fall of over time, like the spot putty will, when you use to much. I think you could get away, with filling the print lines if they are light, more visual than deep.
Dude, these 3D prints just get better and better!
I think you should totally make a Samus armor from Metroid Dread! Your iron man suits are great, and I think a Samus suit would make good use of that new helmet you printed.
Edit: this stuff is inspiring I really want to 3d print something now!
So happy to see you posting! You inspired me to start doing 3D printing. I appreciate you a bunch! Love the videos boss!
Glad to see an update! Suit is looking amazing
Handy trick with the spot glazing putty. If you mix nail polish remover with it to thin it down. You can apply it with a paint brush for detailed areas
Nail polish remover is just acetone and available in larger quantities much cheaper. I have mixed acetone and laquer thinner with the glazing putty and painted on for a while but just found an even better way to apply is through an airbrush or HVLP gun.
Hey love the vids man, I just bought my first 3d printer and can’t wait to make cool things and learn about it. Thanks to your channel 👍
Perfect this was just the type of video I was looking for I’ve had my 3D printer for a little while and was just thinking about the best way to paint stuff and I decided your channel would tell me exactly how to paint it to look real and super detailed
Excited for this update! Let me go grab my popcorn lol. Great video man
i used to sand my builds to the extreme, going all the way to 1500 grit wetsanding... but after watching builds like yours i realized i could stop much earlier :) currently enjoying that heavily as im painting my armor after getting it to around 320 grit smoothed
also rotary tool buffing wheels are great for sanding less flat pieces, got a bunch for cheap in 180, 240, 320 grits
Killin' it brother, glad you got the fire to get back after this project. Looking forward to seeing it completed.
Starboost is look great man! Great job!
This is really helpful. My stormbreaker is in the sanding/priming stage so this first half of the video is super helpful
Thanks!
Ordered some UPOL putty as that's actually available in the UK! Very excited!
“If your bad it that’s fine”😂😂😂
Really awesome stuff.
Bro that intro, amazing
Looks awesome
Love it! would be good to see a video specifically on your arc reactors and how you get those lit up and how you connect to them.
Keep up the great work dude!
I love your channel ! It imspires me to keep going
Wow. Soooo cool. Just got a 3d printer and your videos are so helpful. Thanks and good luck on Mark 39.
A good way to deal with layer lines on flexible parts is brush on rubber like plastidip.
Hey nice build! I just started mine last week. The jet pack part looks so good.
I can't wait to see how Starboost turns out! Will you be moterizing the helmet? And will you put lights in all the vents? Would love to see a video of how you wire this new suit up!!!!
Looks amazing
awesome man!!!
Thanks for the awesome videos! super helpful and explanatory. I plan on making a suit of my own in about two years when I turn 19 and get my own place.
Hell Yeah!
Im in the same stege as you are now, but the jetpack is a paine and a nightmare to sand and prep for painting🤣 I even dreamet about it🙈
great video ! love you.
Love the zoom in…franks thoughts
The guy is amazing!!!!!
Nice job good luck with the other 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ... 10 parts💪😄
I remember seeing you at silicon last year. Great suit. I myself am starting the punisher version of war machine and your videos are so helpful. Hope to meet you in person sometime if you ever come to Planet Comicon in Kansas City Missouri.
After this suit I wanna see you make the hulkbuster suit lol
im very new to your chan bro and im watching everything in a mix up haha but omg i feel so more relaxed makeing my mk85! and now thanks to you i have the star boost armor too so thanks for that and thanks for the info , im also getting my new cr10 next week so i can build twice as bad and get both ready for comicon in march, and also the charity evenbts i want to do in it for the myco heroes uk, thank you for your videoes and info , massive love from the uk bro
Seeing this build has been awesome! I think you must be the only one making a MK39
Ive been waiting for it and finally i see it on your short vids i think is that the mark 39 suit on the floor
Ayyyye! Noice.
Just so you know when you showed the arc reactor in the chest plate you had it in upside down
Wow looks Smmooooooth like Stark Industries butter 🧈🧈 if they ever made butter.
Amazon has been having some issues... ive been missing items in packages, shipping issues, "Address" issues which i have never had but for some reason now my address is having issues after YEARS!!! but yea.. its frustrating specially when you expect it a certain date then it changes, or you get the wrong item... THanks for the update Frank eagerly waiting the finish product ;)
It's funny I found the walsh3d file and was dropping in to see if you've seen it. It will make it so much easier for my sons Halloween costume. Just sucks I'm reprinting this close to Halloween. Also since I found your Amazon store I've been ordering everything from there. Thank you for what you do.
Flexable PLA huh? 🧐 First thought that came to mind is being able to print things like a cars wheel well plastic splash guard. TPU is too soft but this flexible PLA looks good for that type of application. Thanks for sharing cuz I didn’t know about that plastic. 👍🏼
"But hey! I started painting starboost" LMAOOO
Try the metallic dark metal Krylon. It's Definitely great I used it on a Thor Hammer toy for my nephew.
I dont know if you can get it in the US but Plastikote brilliant gold is an amazing mirror finish from a rattle can
Starting to come together
your suit are the best
Where did you get your supplies to ibuiltfrom The iron man suit
The first world problems at the beginning of the video are just... Wow. I actually never thought a Roomba could create a dog-p0o-mess.
Edit:
I don't even do 3D printing and unlike other countries where I've seen 3D printing is so common that you can have stuff printed out at like a store, that doesn't exist here. But i like his vids, and the stuff is soooo amazing OMG.
For anybody looking for an awesome Gold or Chrome paint, check out Molotov Gold and Chrome. Both flop very well when brushed on or sprayed. Stuff is amazingly reflective for a realistic metal look. 👍
They are indeed great! Buy fairly brittle and delicate
@@FranklyBuilt yeah, they need to be clear coated to make them scratch resistant for sure, but that shine is pretty awesome. Pieces without much contact (like your Arc reactor) are ideal for it. 👍 I use it for artwork that are mainly display pieces that don't see much contact.
You should do mark 1 next
Awesome video, man! Have you looked into the technique of airbrushing the bondo putty mixed with acetone? Seems to work out well for highly detailed prints.
Yeah it’s dangerous. I do not recommend it. It’s literally the same as quality Filler primer. If you want to use a spray gun bad enough buy a proper HVLP gun and feather fill. Filler primer or just proper techniques work fine for highly detailed prints regardless. It’s just people being lazy and exaggerating results
Hey love the videos of this print. Not sure if you mentioned it, but what precent infill are you using, and what speed are you printing at? I range anywhere from 80mm/s to 105mm/s. I'm always worried about my print failing if I go to fast.
Let’s Go
Hey- just curious how you oriented the sections of the helmet with the panels on them. Close to vertical or flat? Thanks!
Let’s go
Love it. I'm working on that same Walsh helmet right now with custom colors. Could you link that white paint please? Anxious to see your flexible pla video!
BTY1626?
Forget it I’m getting a 3D printer
I am wondering if you ever came up with a solution on the inner arm piece for Starboost
Question. I’m building a mark 85, can I spray paint it the gun metal color to hide most imperfections and then the red, and gold? Any advice you have would be great. I am using bondo and glazing putty and fiberglass on the inside!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge/experience it's so much valuable and so kind from you.
I wish you to get more and more subscribers, today you got mine ;)
Love the videos dude. But that filler is for spots. It may shrink and crack. If you use the metal filled filler from the same company it actually won't do that. Darkwing Dad uses it and it changed how I fill holes and larger cracks/lines. # had to edit because my ADD doesn't let me type without corrections.
Great to see progress on this suit again. I do have a question about your maker space in your garage though. I currently have my two printers in a bedroom and for just these it works great. I am looking at getting a few more and moving everything into the garage. How are your printers dealing with being in your garage? I'm in Florida so not sure if you get similar heat and humidity where you are at. I did notice that your garage door didn't have any insulation so do you cool your garage down with air conditioning at all? Thanks
I can’t really print with them in the garage in the MIDDLE of summer as they overheat a bit much but aside from that they’re fine
hey do u wear a 3m mask to avoid the plastic particles while sanding the 3d parts? or do u just sand it with no gear?
Been working on a Buzz Lightyear suit and plan on starting over with the Johan model. Might try the Duplicolor white pearl as a replacement for the rustoleum gloss paint/primer I had been using in the past. Thoughts? Big difference? Little difference?
You still need a white base user that white Pearl
You should make peacemakers helmet
Hey Frank can you make a video about adding the mp3 module to the iron man helmet from the crashworks code
Hi! I’m a big fan! Sorry to ask you but as far as sizing an iron man helmet I sized everything on meshmixer by combining the three pieces to make a ring like you said! The thing is I need to now grab each piece to print them out on my small 3D printer but I don’t know how to uncombine them after sizing. I was wondering if you could help me with that, thank you!
Sorry I’m typing this everywhere cause I need help asap! Thank you!!
Stranger danger 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The mk 85 will u make a regular right are?
Hey love the videos dude, a question I’m sure you get asked all the time but do you use pla or abs filament?
PLA+
Hey, I thought you'd forgotten about the MK39. I get mine started once I get back from deployment.
Are you going to automate the helmet? And are you going to add Co2 to the jetpack to make it look more realistic?
after the starboost can you do the murasama from metal gear rising?
Nice video.😁 Could you make an Ant man helmet please.
Hello Friend! what material do you use for your costume (mk-85)?
what are some recommendations here in the UK for brands of paint and clear coat. i keep having bad reactions between paints (spray can and airbrush) and the clear coat i have which i think is a rust oleum one
You should check my earlier MK85 build videos :) I show a bunch of UK brands
@@FranklyBuilt will do, thanks. Looking forward to this suit completed!
please do a green goblin tutorial
Hey i have a request you dont have to do rhis if you dont want to but can you try to 3d print mark42 ite my favorite suit and it looks the coolest
Where did you get your supplies build your suit
If you can print the ironman suit just like this easly....
I think you can print *that thing*
Dynazenon and dynarex
I suppose you could call it a Poomba. Hakuna Matata
Hi, I'm 15 and I like to 3d model in my free time, especially videogame props for cosplay (I also have a Buster Sword replica at my house); I'm now currently working on a Sephiroth's Masamune model (almost seven feet katana), it would be great if you could tell me if it is even possible to build (of course if you decide to do a video on it I would be honoured); anyway, always great quality video, both from a watch perspective and a tutorial one too. Keep it up!
I just started my channel but I was curious if you could give any tips on how to stay interactive with the audience also I love your videos your doing great
Just..interact with them? Lol not sure how to give you tips on how to talk with your audience. Either you do it because you want to or you’re forcing it.
Thanks for the tip you really helped me get through so much keep up the great work
Where did you get tha stuff to build iron man suit pls tell me
Is the creality ender 5 plus a good 3D printer ????
I love mine
im in the middle of printing my mk39 helmet and wanted to utilize the full mask/dome piece. What pieces should I wait on finishing? just the mask?
Well normal servos can’t lift the full mask part
@@FranklyBuilt can I use the high torque versions or were you already using those?
So I got a 3D model of a helmet and am wanting to print it problem is that I’ve never tried to 3D print a helmet before and it’s too big to print all of it on my one platform which is 220x220x250mm and the models tris is inside each other in certain areas and wanna try getting this done before Halloween. I need help.
Is it just me,because I can the Mark 5 Arc reactor diganel core is little bit different than the 3d model from thingivers
Bro can you pls help me how to make iron man hand with side ways opening missile pls or you can indicate how can I make using servo
