And thus ended the character of Sela who was never heard from again. One would think this failure of sending thousands of Romulan troops to their deaths finally led to her execution. I don’t know which is worst. Being unable to figure out how to go around a blockade of 23 starships in open space or sending a small expedition to seize a planet near the very core of an enemy’s territory far outside of supporting distance. Sela was truly an impressive adversary.

I actually wish Sela had been the co-antagonist to Soran in Star Trek: Generations instead of Lursa & B'Etor, as a puny Klingon Bird-of-Prey wouldn't have that kind of firepower to cripple the Enterprise D that way, but a Romulan Warbird does. 1:28 What’s interesting about this reaction to me in that in just about every other Star Trek scene where one group surprises another group with weapons, the surprised group usually surrenders. They wouldn’t think to fire back.
Like when Sela surprised Picard, Data and Spock. They didn’t try to fight back.
This time, they do. Good think it also happens to be the one time those people were holograms.

"They don't seem to be in a hurry. They're only moving at warp one, commander."
Yeah, they're not in a hurry. They'll get to Vulcan in a few... decades.
(This is what happens when the show writers don't know the technicals of their own show. Warp one is light speed. You can make up any distance and time for the higher warp settings and it'll make cinematic sense. But that hard light speed value and the known vastness of space kind of makes Geordi's statement more or less understatement of the year.)
