Just the info I was looking for! Thank u so much
the only thing i'v wondered about that buff is if it affects duel wield light attacks.
Nice video, that pretty much explains it thanks lol
So, I finally finished a vma, and got 2x lr maesltrom staffs. Now Im just trying to figure out if Infused is better than nirnhooded on it. I come here, and yours is sharpend? eh.,..
Should wall of elements be in same bar as Maelstrom staff? If Wall of elements on main bar and Maelstrom staff is in back bar then wil it work?
I thought they had to be in wall of elements to get the damage boost?
One question, as Im used to doing blockade last and cancel it with weapon swap, will it still apply? You said its being applied very fast, but that still sounds confusing to me. If you swap cancel the animation perfectly, does the effect still apply?
Alcast , Does the buff still work if i dont apply blockade with the maelstrom staff? Instead with say a burning spellweave staff on the backbar instead to proc it?
Hi, i wanna ask a question, i just get vma inferno staff precise trait and i enchant to weapon dmg glyph, should i change the trait to infused or i just put it in my back bar and the main bar using sorrow with infused trait and enchant flame dmg, just like this videos? Is it ok or the dps will be diff?
Does the extra damage apply to each tick of the lightning staff's heavy attack or just at the end?
i talked shit when i heard that they made it now you that you can get a staff on normal but i went and finally got one. Its an ice staff but it still works well. i dont have the paintance to get perfected plus i think it would really piss me off. I got as far as the ice stange on vet and said to hell with it. Thx for all the info Alcast
hope you're enjoying your time at zos, you guys look like you all are having a great time! im jelly xD
haha ye, was fun as hell and content that will come is great!
Whats the ability called where those lighting clouds/fireballs rain down? Have tried a Google but can't seem to find out
He is wearing a monster set called Ilambris if I recall correctly.
like u to do a test without vma I have light one but never get inferno in 100+ rounds
So do these work for all maelstrom weapons?
TIPS:you have to put 'wall of elements' in the maelstorm's staff's skill bar
if i run BSW + Julianos + skoria sets i won't fit the MA staff since i need to have x2 Julianos staffs to get the 5 set bonus. Won't i loose the 5 piece set bonus if i switch my backbar juli staff to a MA staff and thus loosing dmg? Or how does it work?
Mr HazeBuns u will. But currently many people are running siroria jewelry and single front staff for 5 and vma staff on back. Siroria puts down ur spell power circle on the ground. So even when u switch in rotation and break it, the buff is still already laid down. Ur going to keep putting siroria down in ur rotation even if you break it.
Others skip the monster and run 5 5 2 with 2 being staffs
some even run 5 2 2 3 with monster set staff set and a 3 set like moondancer or willpower.
There are some killer builds out there that dont follow meta. Some people specifically like staying away from meta and come up with thier own crazy dpsing builds
What sets are u running?
Too bad I can't beat Vma 😔😔
everyone can, last saturday i beat it for the first time on stamsorc, it took 4 hours, yesterday i got flawless
Alcast made a four hour video that allowed me to beat it for the first time. If you take the time to watch long guides, you can beat Maelstrom Arena on veteran difficulty. Maelstrom Arena is all about mechanics even though dps helps, so you can beat it if you try.
As a Dark Elf what is the best trait and enchantment for my Maelstrom staff
Backbar usually Infused or Nirnhoned. More ppl tend towards infused. Enchantment Spell damage
Is Maelstrom possible to do as a lower cp? Im 300 cp and would love some of these weapons but I just cannot complete it.
Yes you can do it but it will be very difficult. Make sure to make use of the sigils, they will help a lot if you time them correctly.
If you look at the overall result after a match.
Then you can both make results where maelstrom is good, but also where it loses a lot to other staff.
So the staff is no better than others no matter what the heck you say
I got a Maelstrom bow should I change the enchantment on it or just run poisons
Paul Atkinson for dungeons and easy stuff, stam return enchant is fine. Equip poisons when you want to bring the big deeps :)
Ty
For vMA is there any point slotting 2 frost maelstrom staves instead of the randoms im using now?
Elijah Wilkes of course not dont do that
look at the destro staff passives
there it says that u get 8% more single target dmg if u have a fire staff equiped and 8% more AOE dmg if u have a shock staff equiped
the frost staff basically gives u nothing
sometimes tanks use it because u can taunt with it
You could run a frost on back bar for the blockade and the maelstrom effect, and then switch to a random lightning or fire staff on front bar
Yippie37 yea u could do that but it would be a dps lost on ur backbar ^^ The 1,4k additonal dmg of ur light attacks are not enough to compensate that.
You lose a dmg bonus on ur backbar due to the destro staff passives and a fire blockade, which gets highly buffed by some things like engulfing flames from a dk for example :)
rotpunkt Actually a friend tested it, the dps gain from maelstrom frost staff is higher than the loss from the passive, since youre not supposed to spend much time on backbar anyways
He also asked for vma so no engulfing
I didn't see a change besides my wall of elements dose more damage. Thats it
It's Just Works!
King Crimson
Magplar hm dps possible? 38-42k? Selfbuffed
Marius Wirz The highest magplar DPS I have seen was 43.7k DPS selfbuffed
NickoLps that's because it is super easy for a nightblade to reach 40k dps while you struggle realy hard as a Templar. Same goes for mag dk this patch, nobody plays it cause everyone says they don't pull high DPS this patch, in my guild I have 2 mag dks that pull 40k +/- dps selfbuffed. It is just harder for that class to get there then for others.
Sorry for my poor English.
So if you activate the wall of elements on the maelstrom bar, and then switch bars to non maelstrom staff, will the damage boost from the set bonus still be there? Will your light and heavy attacks still do increased damage so long as the enemy is in the wall of elements?
yes
Is Maelstrom Fire or Maelstrom Lightning staff better for back bar if you are an altmer?
You gotta do maelstream like 60 times to get something good
The chance to get a specific staff is 1/18, if you dont care if fire or shock its 1/9. So if you need 60 tries you are really unlucky. And since clockwork city the trait doesnt matter because you can transmute it.
StAngerNo1 oh thanks ill be doing it everyday even when I get on and when it rest after I finish the first ill just Q up for a dungeon until it rest back up again easy
got my first bow after almost 100 clears finally i donmt have to play that piece of shit arena anymore
I’ve done it 3 times, I just beat it for the first time this week. My first drop was a nirn bow, second was a precise inferno and third was a nirn lightning. This is what happens when you accept rngeezus as your lord and savior. Hahaha
I got fire staff on my first run. It's just rng.
Plz help
Paul Atkinson with what? XD
Maelstrom Staff is strong and used in many Mag builds but the Stam counterpart (Maelstrom daggers) are hardly used in any builds anymore because they are so weak its so sad.
Zhe samina counterpart is the bow and every staminabuild uses mealstrom bow. its even more important then the maelstrom staff
Of course the bow gets used but that doesn't change the fact that the daggers are too weak...
True, but as far as i remember the daggers improove the steel tornado and this skill isnt used in raid setups anyway.
The Maelstrom daggers aren't weak at all, 2000 extra weapon damage on an ability is massive. The reason no one uses them anymore is because ZOS *BROKE* the daggers. Back last year they changed the way dots work, it was changed so that dots recalculate their damage with every tick. This was great because it meant buffs you couldn't directly control like SPC or weapon damage enchant procs would automatically apply to dots you already had up. The problem is that when they made this change, they didn't bother to change the way the Maelstrom Dagger proc works and as a result it only boosts the very first tick of a dot and then goes away, instead of boosting the dot for the entire duration as was intended.
Sadly ZOS has been at least so far too lazy to fix it.
No you're thinking of the Asylum daggers, the VMA daggers buff your DOT abilities after you use flurry but the enchantment is too weak since they nerfed it and trial set 5 piece sets outperform VMA daggers by a big margin not to mention the fact that its very annoying to sustain VMA daggers cos flurry costs so much stamina.
2handed weapons count as 2 peice sets..just posting for other noobs that are confused about this like I was 😂
As a member of the noob community, I think you on their behalf.
lmao 15k health

Yea, he don't explain anything about it. I came to see what the best traits and enchantment would be for a maelstrom inferno staff. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS VIDEO, No detailed information!
i don't get it, and more and more of your videos are regurgitating what one can read in under 30 seconds in a google search. Don't take this as an insult, quite the contrary. I'm pointing it out because you have such a great opportunity to show us some great examples of why or why not get this staff. I mean, give us the dirt, the balls, the guts to why this staff is worthwhile. Show us some examples of PVE/PVP with it in use versus not using it. Get deep man. Google already superficially tells me (in one sentence) what your five minute clip shows us. And yes, this is meant as constructive criticism, but your video is as superficial as a google description of this staff -and I think you know it. Quality, not quantity. Google is full of quantity.
