There is a funky rubber plug behind that cam journal. It forces oil throughout your camshaft oiling your cam bearings/ bushings without it you loose the oil beforehand. I didn't see yours.
So the original problem was that the camshaft "bearing" would get hot and fuse itself to the cam. I did get a megacyle camshaft with a bearing machined on the end and I have not had a problem since!
@@LilBJessup That's what I'm saying. Probably why your cam bearing is getting hot and fusing to your cam. Not enough oil passing through. I have two tore apart now same problem from previous owners doing their own maintenance and losing the plug and not noticing. It's actually a machining hole from the manufacturer.
Nice if I cant figure out what the problem is can I pay for you to give it a try I literally picked it up yesterday and just lubricant in the engine to set got any tips?
The goal of this XR was to be a purpose built hare scrambler that is super lightweight. It is a blast with the added mots to it, we have recently rebuilt this bike again!
@@LilBJessuphad this same issue with my bike did you ever figure out what the reason was because I’ve gone through two cam shafts already and they keep coming out dry
@@jared_4581 I ended up getting a performance cam that had a bearing pressed on the end of it instead of aluminum rubbing against steel. It will always get hot. A bearing eliminates that issue.

What year is your bike
what year is it? well that is a good question, the motor and suspension are from a 1990, frame is an 01 and swingarm and rear wheel are from an xr250
Was the cam shaft dry?
Dry as a bone, that's why I used assembly lube on it this time, runs great. New video coming next week!
