First off great videos. You've helped me a ton. I had this exact issue on my western star 3406. I did every per your video. Mine differed a little in the sense that it has two nuts to be remove from the jake housing and there's two connects that run on top the top of the jake housing and clip in and says torque to 10lbs and had a snap ring. But my issue is after replacing the cups and flush/new coolant, my driver went to start the truck this morning and it attempted to start just once. I just got here and it made no attempt to turn over, the only thing it did was a loud audible Thud or slam.
+Derrick Vail Sounds like you have fluid in the cylinders. Did you evacuate the cylinders with a vacuum pump? If you didn't it is okay you'll just have to slowly turn the engine by hand until the fluid is pushed past the rings. Did the engine run after changing the cups?

My friend, can you give us information about hydraulic problems in Caterpillar equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, etc., or direct me to a UA-cam channel if you know about it? Thank you very much for everything you provide.
I just replied to your email, but cavitation is caused by coolant boiling in spots next to your cast iron parts and slowly putting little holes in them. Not all damage is cavitation though, it could be rust or electrolysis as a cause as well. If the damage is not in your seal area though you should be okay to reuse the head, depending on the amount of damage.
Thank you for this vidéo , i have same problem some diesel in my radiator on my volvo genset TAD734 GE.i think the problem is the injector sleeve or o-ring. What do you think?
Great video. Very interesting. One question however; after you have pulled the cup and you use die grinder to clean area where cup goes, how do you avoid contaminants going into the cylinder? Also you said to clean the cylinder. That would be hard to because you have a small opening. Only way would be a small vacuum hose ? I’m fairly new to this kind of stuff so forgive my ignorance. Thanks.

That is a lot if miles for a 3126, must have taken good care of the maintenance or just got lucky. So is it worth it, depends on how well the engine is running. If the blowby is low, isn't smoking out the exhaust or have 50 oil leaks I would say replace the cups and see how far it will go. If it has 3 weak cylinders, several oil leaks, hard starting in the morning, I would say might want to look at rebuilding it or getting a replacement engine.
