    Awesome tool tips, I got taught how to do my spokes years ago by sound, pretty good at it, but the spoke torque wrench is so much better, I am a tool guy and can’t help myself when it comes to tools, really a fan of the Tusk tools for price n quality, save on anger management lol, so true though, my biggest issue is alway got to have high quality which was normally high cost! I like tools that last a lifetime, plus got to have a good set of T handles as well. 🤙

      A must for sure. I am always surprised to find buddies that don't have one when they have owned and worked on bikes for years. The tool is a life saver!

      More importantly is using the right bit. Virtually all Japanese bikes, and some European bikes as well do NOT use Phillips head screws, but rather JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) head screws. You'll very quickly strip a JIS screw using a Phillips screwdriver. I'd suggest that many times people resort to an impact driver, it's because they're using a Phillips screwdriver on a JIS screw and strip it out - if they'd used the proper size JIS screwdriver to begin with, they most likely wouldn't have stripped the screw.

    If you have the motion Pro clutch holder pliers you can use that to press on a chain master link.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 років тому

      Thanks! I personally used to use vice grips (about the same as the clutch tool you are referring to) and then I got a real press. that is why I insisted it made the list. The press is much easier, and more importantly, way more precise!....Justin

    BEST method for spring pulling is to put a zip tie around the spring and tie the other end around the closed end of a wrench and just pull with that

    If you work on older Japanese bike that have a lot of Phillips heads. Get a JIS Phillips head screw driver. US ones have different angle and will strip out easier.

      @@rmatvmc Those impact tools are pretty darn good, but the JIS tip for the driver on it or just the screw driver alone with save some headaches. Also with driver you can put a wrench on the screw driver to turn it and tap the drive with a dead blow keeping pressure in a pinch if you can't find your tool, but the tool works way better at that.

  • @wyattguttery9614

    super easy, fun and rewarding to make your own exhaust puller. obviously easier to buy one. but making my own was more satisfying. all you need is a cheap welder and some scrap. pretty easy and fun to make your own t-handle set too

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 років тому +1

      Funny you say that. I made a spring puller in my high school welding class over 20 years ago and still use it today! However, when a nice one is only $5.99, it is hard to want to make the time to build one. I am like you though and like to tinker in my shop and a spring puller is quite simple! ..... Justin

    A question about the impact driver: does it rust over time? I have bought a Unior one which sells for around 100 euros or so, supposed to be quality.... The head rusted to shit after 3 months while still in the box.

    How do you know your setting the correct torque on your spokes even with the tool if the threads on the spokes are gummed up or rusty??? well I know it easy too say keep them clean but that not so easy when you drive in mud all the time.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 років тому

      if the spoke is stuck, you can't. so you need to loosen, clean, and lube.

    I've figured out that to get the springs off the pipe all u need is a zip tie to tie around the spring hook and then some pliers to hold on to the zip tie and no need for spring pullers

      AIDEN WELLS by the time you have done that, I’d had the pipe on and off and backwards, for the cost of a spring puller tool seriously it’s not expensive and lays for itself in no time.

      Yes you can use pliers or long noose that will wreck you spring hooks in short time, do it right tools bought well are inexpensive and last a life time, if you can’t buy something like this, look after your bikes and they will look after you, same with tools, it’s pretty simple.
