I just watched your top five mistakes video . and you covered things pretty well . but I believe there are a couple more things you should add . Number one being . People changing their oil and NOT pre filling or Priming their engine oil filter , Which usually adds Extra wear , or sometimes even causes Severe Damage . And Second thing That is important is to inspect oil filters before they are installed for dirt or debris that could have possibly been left behind during manufacturing . I have personally found debris in brand new oil filters many times , especially in the threads on canister type filters . And the third thing is using the proper type of Anti seize . I have often seen People use Gray Anti seize for High temperature applications such as Exuast bolts or Spark plug threads , when Copper HIGH TEMPERATURE Anti seize instead . I think it would be very helpful to everyone if you were to pass along the things that I just mentioned in your future videos . Thank you guys for all your hard work and your helpful videos . Using impact wrench to tighten bolts can be a problem... I love it for removing/disassembly though. Also just not staying organized and trying to take shortcuts instead of doing it the right way the first time, it's hard because it can be so tempting. .. definitely been guilty of all three btw. Live and learn
The best torque wrench other than torquing head bolts, is intuition. On an assembly line of new machinery I agree, controlled mechanical torquing is an absolute necessity. After that, and on used equipment, not so much. Too many variables. Grease, dirt, tired fasteners, age, etc, etc. Most of the fasteners I’ve stripped were done so by attempting to tighten them as per torque specs. I learned my lesson a long time ago. 26 bikes later and no stripped threads in a very, very long time. Cheers!
I did all of these mistakes you mentioned. My most recent one was not removing the front sprocket before tearing down the engine and putting the main crank bearing in the wrong way so the retainer didn't fit on it.
Anti-seize: aluminum on aluminum, like the large steering or axle bolt. I bought a used 2 year old 2012 KTM and the bolt seized to the steering tube, the galling destroyed it. The rear fender nut (where the seat bolt feeds thru) also seized. What should have been a 30 min job turned into a parts hunt.
I would highly recommend using anti-seize on your chain tensioner bolts. I didn’t do it and had to snap my bolt head off and drill it out and get a kit ti replace it.
A piece of cardboard with holes punched in it will be the best bolt organizer you'll ever use. I've bought used dirt bikes with all kinds of different bolts sizes that don't match left-to-right, because they lost some along the way.
When you can't fit a socket and torque wrench and need to use a combo wrench you can still set your torque using the Motion Pro Adjustable Torque Wrench Adapter! Fits your torque wrench right to the combo wrench.
I was lazy once with my filter, didn't clean it after a few rides on sandy/dusty tracks, didn't think much of it, until the throttle pinned WFO on the take off on a tabletop, scary thought💩💩
You might want to explain he difference between a thread chaser and a thread tap. I’ve seen a huge number of people use a tap instead of a thread chaser and destroy the item they are working on. A tap cuts where a chaser cleans, which I’m sure you already know.
Very Nice video, you know What you’re talking about . I repaired serveral car en small ship engines due to to much silicone gasket. Also hopefully There are a few less unfinished projects due to video’s like this 👌
There's been a few times when people wanted me to get their machine running because it wouldn't start....real simple fix.....they had little to no fuel in it.
My buddy thought he blew his engine once. Still had compression but wouldn't start. I cleaned the carb and it started right up. Bro was talking about selling it for dirt cheap too before I sprayed some cleaner in it 😂😂
I recently thought I locked up my 04 yz250, somehow the kickstarter spring popped out of place and got stuck in the clutch basket. The bottom end bearings are going out though. 😡
The problem with using a torque wrench is it takes a long time to find the torque specs for each bolt because manufacturers feel the need to use 10 different size bolts instead of 2 or 3.
I've seen a lot of bikes where people will reuse the oil drain plug crush washer over and over until it mushes out like play dough. Eventually the case will crack doing this.
@@jamesandjimmy246stevenson3 use feeler gauge to center crank in case, with a dead blow or rubber hammer. I wouldn’t hit the crank with a steel hammer though.

I would say no as long as the torque wrench, bolt and assembly point are the same temperature. This would mean that all materials have expanded at a similar amount.
Do you mean the bottles vs what's inside? I've wondered the same thing. Probably to confuse people into buying more since they grabbed the wrong one? 😂
Problem is the guys making videos who 'flip' bikes hammering in 'bearings in the cases' and the Chyna made cranks then the person buys it runs for 20 minutes and people think this is great.
Why not have a go at making the tool yourself? You'll either save some money, learn something new, or come to realise that "expensive" tool is actually well priced. 😎

Once I put my air filter cover on what should I was the boot area with? Soap and water or wd40? My battery is right underneath my filter.
