I’m curious, if Alear’s name is shown on the subtitles, why aren’t they saying his/her name out loud?

It's one of those moments in JRPGs where since the player can rename the protagonist anything they want, the developers just have the name you pick be silent (Or in other games like Three Houses, the characters use a nickname in place of it like 'Professor'), since it'd be impossible to have ANY possible name be said out loud. Of course, I don't know why they still do this even if there's a canon name for the protagonist as the default option.

I guess its because recording every single line of dialogue with the default name and the name silent would use up too much memory. Sound recordings are one thing that always gobbles up a lot of memory in a game's files@@superstarultra
