This story is so heart breaking. Chris did two tours in the Navy and he dies at home because some meth-fueled pos lost his mind and picked their home to break into. He not only stole Chris' life he stole his wife and daughter's happiness, peace of mind and sense of security. Disgusting and tragic.

Easy to say now could of, should of….I think what’s important is that he was able to get his wife and child out of the situation and keep them out of it and he even tried to de escalate it, sure if he had had a gun he could have lived, but it could have also caused a shootout that got his wife and child to get in harms way. He did the best he could in a terrible situation and is without a doubt a hero for saving his family….

I was very intrigued to click on this video because I’m from Kalamazoo. I immediately knew which case it was though. My mother used to date Haley’s father so I knew the family. I’ve been in the house this happened in, years before it happened. It was a very cute house right on the Kalamazoo River. When my family heard on the news and on Facebook about what happened it was shocking. No one could have expected it at all. Hearing the 911 calls makes it feel so much more real.
Thankfully Haley has been able to heal more and has a very supportive partner now. She has two beautiful kids and has started going to college again. She still posts about Christopher often and says he is “my guardian angel” :)
Hopefully that gives some people comfort after hearing their story.

I'm not a comedian at all and I would never even attempt to be one. My comment wasn't even supposed to be comical but I do understand where you would get that feeling from because that's how most people are online now they're very senseless, and actually quite sadistic when it comes to their emotions. The heroism of Chris, protecting his family and being killed in such a senseless act of one absolute POS, just broke my heart. Then hearing about their little girl saying what she did...there are no words. At least life means life in the US, and not 20 years knocked down to 10 for 'good behaviour' whilst living better than most elderly people in this country. The UK could learn some lessons from the US penal system.

I think for the families though, when someone kills your loved one because they were drink driving and only get 5 years in the UK, a life sentence in the US must make them feel like justice was done. This is so incredibly heartbreaking. I can't imagine what an ordeal Haley has had to endure. My heart just breaks for her. Christopher is a hero indeed. I'm glad that William will never have the opportunity to hurt anyone like this again.

I don’t often tear up over these videos despite finding all of them tragic, but this one really hit me. I often think it’s so unfair that with what little amazing people we have in the world, they are lost at the hands of monsters like Willian who are then kept alive in prisons. Chis was the true definition of pure bravery and love. May his memory live on in his beautiful children

Just started in and these pictures of this lovely couple and their baby are so absolutely lovely, but I know something tragic is obviously going to be happening. Also, anyone who signs up to be a volunteer firefighter, you know is a great person, because they could make huge money if they didn't volunteer, but had taken an actual paid position as an occupation; as well as anyone that joins the service in my book!
Thanks for the upload & hope you ladies are having a fantastic weekend, doing whatever your hearts desire!

Another tough one. Not so much the actions of a random person, in a random town, happening to a random family...but what it left behind in its wake. A good man taken from his family, his daughter and son. His actions that night saved his family and for that his father-in-law is correct he is a hero.

@@annewagner196 I moved here with my sons 27 yrs ago when Kalamazoo had barely one murder a year. I didn't want my boys growing up in crime ridden Detroit. Now I'm scared for my grandchildren to grow up in this area. My daughter who was born here has lost several of her childhood friends to violence. I don't know how the Kalamazoo area went a quiet family oriented place to someone getting shot or killed every other day. I remember when this happened, I couldn't believe it then and although it's happened to a few other families since I still can't believe this is what we've come to.
