Tony Robinson's Tour Of Duty | E8 | Bathurst

- Your country needs you! Tony is in the quiet NSW town of Bathurst on Anzac Day. Hear stories of reconciliation over tea and scones in Cowra and the man whose childhood bedroom window bullet hole was the envy of all his mates. The Tour of Duty Roadshow proves once again that no matter the town’s population there’s always a quirky story to be found; a life saving coin, a Japanese POW uniform, and one lucky woman is in for a surprise when she’s reunited with a relic from her late father’s war service.
(Fun fact) On that tour, Kitchener slept in the front bedroom of the house I now live in!!
Bless Bruce. What a lovely man. 😇🕊️♥️
I remember when this was filmed. I was playing in the Bathurst City and RSL concert band in front of the large carillon memorial on Anzac Day. Tony was so absolutely lovely, he came over and complimented the band on all our hard work for the services throughout the day. We have members who play at the dawn service right through to the evening service. Toby's time in Bathurst brought quite a buzz of excitement to have a celebrity in town. I'd absolutely love if he could do a series just on Bathurst alone as it is so rich with history.
We had one of the buildings from the migrant camp on our property for many years. There are still some of them standing in the district.
Bruce. What an amazing human being. Thank you for your family’s compassion.
I do believe Sir Robinson felt quite at home here in Australia. Thank you Sir for your interest
the process of becoming an aussie when ur a pom is long and hard , as someone once said, life wasnt meant to be easy. but well worth the journey. my kids born here , true blue, i have no regrets australia is my home.

49:45 - Secret Box
The ring of Clem Hill (possible a disentrance family member) though family records of my grandfather are little bit foggy.
I would love it if one of the six P.O.W.'s made contact with Bruce after seeing this.
I can't believe there are only 2 thumbs up, I would of hated to of been there then, not only having to watch out for the other side, but also about everything you see was there to kill you to, gb
I know that the POW vets come visit Cowra from Japan as goodwill. Pretty sure Bruce would've met them during those few times they're there (especially when they cleaned up the bushes and fixed up the POW grounds to make it less of a ruin site but more of a memorial park back in 2018)
Our population is now 26 million and our immigrants are very welcome! 🤗
Great shows!!! I think it would be a great show to have an American or other nationality go along with him on his walks. This would allow a different view on the subjects.
It would not be appropriate, too many Americans provide slanted views of world history already!
38:40 U can tell it was before everyone had a mobile phone bc if it was now they all would have there hands in the air handling there phones filming #PMSL. well am i wrong? haha i dont think i am #Giggle ..>!
Women painting stockings on their legs happened all over the British Empire in WWII

Another great episode blocked in Australia... c'mon, guys!
Use a VPN mate, kinda should be always, less than 5 Aussie dollars a year is what I happily pay. Improved privacy and access on the internet.
@@lizardywizard I do lol; I was just pointing out the irony of a video about a particular region being blocked in that region. I'm sure it's just licensing bs or similar...
25:11 'Firstly they weren't refugees they were migrants 'They came of there own free will n secondly back then they called them Dagos which was even worse than using the word Wo g' 'well the ones from southern Europe n from the Baltics n Germans were called Grouts .. Haha My mum n dad woke up in the ones in seven hills n said the same thing but he said ARE WE IN AFRICA bc everything was bone dry n also red dirt n 2 hours walk from the nearest shop n mum wonted to go straight back to germany were it was lush n green near the black forest they lived.
Isn’t it funny they never mention the contribution of the English immigrants
