    I was reluctant about getting the DAS as so many people bitch about it, but 2 years in and Im loving it. Very quick and responsive. This is the easiest car to drive fast that Ive owned. Benn on a couple if 8 hour trips and it is noticeably better then conventional steering. No fatigue , no road vibration. could drive this thing for hours on end.

      Thank you! Finally someone else points this out. I owned a Q50 hybrid sport and would drive up and down the east coast without ever needing to take a break. Usually 7-8 hrs at a time. No fatigue, no exhaustion. It was all down to that steering. No fighting the road or having to constantly make adjustments to center the car in the lane. Car detects crosswinds and counteracts them as well. Clearly a system ahead of its time.

  • @WilliamsMickey
    @WilliamsMickey 5 років тому +2

    Couple questions. Which dealership did you go to in ATL? I like the fact that the tech was knowledgeable and he was cool dude. Was the alignment expensive at the Nissan dealership? I have the same tech package, and plan to replace tires from run flats.

    • @WilliamsMickey
      @WilliamsMickey 5 років тому

      Also, if they align all the wheels, it takes long?

    • @KayDroTechnologies
      @KayDroTechnologies  5 років тому

      I usually used Infiniti of Gwinnett or Roswell when i lived directly in Atlanta. I'm down south in middle GA now. The Alignment was something over $100, but if you have the advanced cruise control they may charge you an extra hour in labor, as it has to be calibrated again if you need a full alignment.

    • @KayDroTechnologies
      @KayDroTechnologies  5 років тому

      yeah replace them run flats ASAP lol, they hold back the car. it will feel like a different car when you get better tires.

    Another great video, like how you tell him at the beginning that you haven't gotten this one on the auto cross track yet, then later tell him how much you like the DAS during auto cross, Forgetful or trying not to admin you race your car to the dealership?

    • @KayDroTechnologies
      @KayDroTechnologies  5 років тому +1

      Autox and track/road course are two separate things...
      I have done many autoX courses with my Q50... just haven't been to an actual track like road Atlanta with my Q50 yet.

      Ok my bad. I missed the nuance in the difference between the two. Because Ive watched videos of you racing that thing so when you told the guy you hadnt had it on a track Im like bullshit dude, its all good though. Please help! I bought carbon fiber steering wheel for my q60. I replaced all the butons and the airbag from the old wheel. All works, but the wheel is not in center. Litlle bit to the right.
    I went to do the calibration, but they said it shows that the wheel is calibrated when it is like that. Is there a way to fix this?

    I’m pretty surprised they let you in the shop area. I work on my own q50 most the time. But with stuff like this I guess you have to take it to a shop. How’d you determine you have DAS. I have a 2014 q50 hybrid premium AWD. It’s got automated cruise control all the radars and the pano camera. But it doesn’t have DDS.

    • @KayDroTechnologies
      @KayDroTechnologies  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah I do all work on my car that I have the time and tools for... but DAS is one of those things you better off letting the dealership do.

    • @KayDroTechnologies

      And DDS didn't come out till 2016.

    • @KayDroTechnologies

      You know you have DAS because of the extra options you have for steering in your personal mode settings. And you can see it from under the car, the huge servo motors on each front tie rod.

    Was the only difference between a standard alignment and one for a DAS equipped car that they test the wheel/steering wheel alignment at the end? I've called 4 dealerships locally and all of them want $349 for an alignment on my 14' Q50 AWD with DAS. Have some 2.5 year old tires that are almost bald on the insides up front (backs are fine). I don't want to drop $350 on an alignment on some $400 something tires.

    • @KayDroTechnologies

    • @KayDroTechnologies
      @KayDroTechnologies  2 роки тому +1

      So Nissan in general ties its modules together so that they have to be programed to work with each other.
      Also DAS was updated in the 2016 model year... and I believe again in 2018...So make sure your DAS module is from the same year model.

      Mario, Since you seem very familiar with the DAS, I have a question that can probably be answered by a qualified tech. I bought a crashed 15 q50 the drivers side steering module was missing from the accident. Can you buy a used module and relearn it to the car or do you need to buy a new one ? Ive also read that all 3 modules would possibly have to be replaced? Is that true? Thanks in advance. Thanks KayDro for posting the video.

    I like the DAS but I don’t like the maintenance experience. DAS alignment at my dealer costs about $300. I had it done when I replaced the original tires (at about 20k miles; I hated the stock run flats…they were stiff and loud…a truly poor driving experience). I drove another 20k miles on the replacement tires with no apparent alignment issues…right up until the dealer showed me the horrifically bad wear pattern on the two front tires (Q50 Sport Red has asymmetric front and rear tires so there’s really no rotation option) which belied the driving experience of no drift left or right. Both were toe out so totally worn on the inside edge. Ended up replacing all 4 tires (about $1500) plus a discounted DAS alignment that for some reason took days to accomplish. I don’t want to spend $300 on a DAS alignment every 5k miles when I go in for an oil change, nor do I want to burn through $1500 tires every $20k miles.

    • @KayDroTechnologies
      @KayDroTechnologies  Рік тому

      Interesting... my alignment hasn't came out, and I have never had any odd tire wear. You may want to try a different dealership next time... but yes an alignment is expensive with DAS unfortunately... but you shouldn't need to do it that often... you may have something else going on...

    • @KayDroTechnologies
