  • Nhl highlights 2023 - Detroit red wings vs philadelphia flyers was an absolute barn burner last night and we need to have this talk about this topic given the patrick kane goals plus shootout winner lifted them in the flyers vs red wings game . Subscribe for more recaps of nhl games today , news trades and rumors , occasional rankings content and mic'd up and more. Blows my mind, several Red Wings blogs are attributing the recent slump to Kane joining the team. You know, it had nothing to do with 3 of our Top 6 out to injuries/suspension, nor the brutal schedule we just had and currently have. After today's game, it will have been 8 games in 13 days. 15 games in December. And, we are playing our 3rd and 4th string goalies, as our actual top 2 are out injured. Our recent failures are entirely our play in the D zone. We are collapsing and blowing coverage. Kane has been a shining point in this recent slump. He has some bad puck luck early on, but he is starting to warm up. 9 points in 9 games is nothing to sneeze at.

I love watching Kane play so far as a Wing. I also agree the people blaming him for these losses know nothing about the sport. All of that being said, the one tiny valid point I've noticed is his legs are completely gone. If he loses the puck, you will not catch him back-checking. Once it's off his stick, he's just watching the breakout the other direction. I hope that comes back with time, but honestly I think if you know that's where he's at with his hip then you have to be able to gameplan around it.

@@tokiburoak7457 "The Detroit Red Wings have struggled since signing future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane. However, Kane himself has not struggled. In fact, there’s an argument to be made that the 35-year-old is the team’s best player. And the feat he achieved on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Wild may add to that argument.
Kane scored Detroit’s first goal against Minnesota. This gives him four straight games of finding the back of the net. And as a result, he is the first Red Wings player to record a four-game goal streak at 35 years or older since Pavel Datsyuk in 2014-15, according to NHL Public Relations.
Patrick Kane has held up his end of the bargain since joining the Red Wings. He’s even turned the clock back a bit. In fact, this four-game goal streak is the longest he’s had since the 2019-20 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, according to NHL Public Relations.
Patrick Kane has led the Detroit Red Wings
Kane has had a few big moments for Detroit despite their struggles. Perhaps his most cathartic moment came before the NHL’s holiday break. The team hasn't been doing well since he arrived. But could that have something to do with the key injuries and a key suspension which happened about the same time?
Last night's game against the Flyers is the first time since Kane played as a Red Wing that we also had Compher, Larkin, and Peron all back too. They made it more difficult than it needed to be, but in the end got the win, against a very good team.
This year's Wings are still a work in progress, but they have a lot of good people to work with. If we avoid further key injuries or suspensions, then the next few games will be a better indicator of how good they are with Kane compared to how good they were before he joined them.

Hey Johnny - Happy Holidays bud!
Please do some more videos on the jets!! They don't get enough recognition. Last night the bruin's fans were shitting on the bruins for losing to a bad team & they are completely delusional.
Connor Hellebyuck arguably one of the top 5 goalies in the league, with Laurent Brossoit who has proven himself in the playoffs backing him up. Josh Morrissey is one of the leagues best D-man. Kyle Connor one of the best goal scorers in the league + the added depth of Nino Niederreiter, Namestnikov, Vilardi, Iafallo, Kupari since last season.
Vilardi btw has 12 points in 5 games.
And people think they're nothing burgers! Statistically they lead the league in a lot of areas! #1 in goals against, they haven't let in more than 3 goals in 22 games. I have never seen this team so bought in defensively Scheifele is a complete different player this year.
Sorry it's just sad people don't give them the recognition. As a side effect of this, people think Scheifele is a dirty player because they only know him from his hit on Evans he got a 4 play off games suspension for it.
Those of us who follow the jets know that for 99% of his career he has been a exemplary, squeaky clean competitor.

He had a career year at 29 with 110 and 3rd best season of 92 points the year before last at 32. as long as Kane's hip holds up i think he could be another Joe Pavelski a guy who just seems to get better with age, he sees the ice so well, he's creative, he's smart....I could see him playing till 40 and still being "productive"

Patrick Kane is a future first ballot Hall of Famer with multiple Stanley Cups to his name. That guy has forgotten more about hockey than most players will ever know. At this point, racking up points comes second nature to him. The only limiting factor to him performing well is his health. As long as that guy is healthy he'll put up points. Unfortunately, the closer he gets to 40, the more his output will wind down. Look at what has happened to Ovechkin's goal-scoring ability.

He was worth taking a chance on for the Red Wings. So far Yzerman has pulled the right string again. Having watched every game he's played with Detroit he seems to be getting stronger on his skates and more comfortable with his teammates. I'm a diehard Blackhawks fan, and I'm very ticked off after Kane said that he thought he'd get a call once the Hawks picked up Connor Bedard. He talked about how nice it was for him to have savvy veterans on the team when he was first drafted. Toews had already said he wouldn't leave Chicago, and am sure he would have returned if asked. Instead we go after Taylor Hall, whose been bounced from team to team, and has a suspect shoulder, and has been out for the year with a knee injury. Now Bedard has to make the best of it with guys that can neither can skate with the puck, or make good passes. I hope that Connor does start eying greener pastures. As for Kane, at 50% he's deadly, and if he stays healthy he'll be deadly as ever!

Kane went public with his criticism of the Hawks front office after they traded Hagel and DeBrincat. The same idiots that will drone on about scalability and diversification likely labeled him "not a team player." Doesn't really matter to them if his comments were justified and echoed by the entire fanbase while proving he cared about the team. I really hate that "politically correct" corporate mindset.

I would say on the offensive side of things the wings are looking fantastic! GF's (goals for) they are 4th in the league. Not so good on the the other side though being close to the bottom for goals against right around 25th or so....Game against Philly is a perfect example. Something needs to change defensively for them, big time.

Surprised the Rangers didn't re-sign him, actually.

Everyone has to realize the severity of his injury. It’s borderline impossible for someone of his age to come back and be 100% from his injury. Even younger players take around 2 years to get 100% from that type of injury. I’m surprised this isn’t news.

  • @mmdoof
