Been using this as my EDC for about a year now and I absolutely love it. It comes in handy all the time and it’s low profile enough that’s it’s never in the way on or in my pocket.
This was awesome. Thank you for getting into all the subtleties of the design. I've been stuck in a rabbit hole trying to figure out which utility knife to order and your video has finally helped me settle on the Fastback 1505 (and 1500 as part of a 2-piece set). I can finally close 30 tabs now, ha ha.
Grant . I've used one for going on three years since I've been out and I bought a set of Milwaukee impact metric quarter inch bits and torx 10-20 and STD Allen bits as well .. store all my bits in small Altoids tin with the Milwaukee 6-1 I have a assorted screwdriver set . Plus I carry a Craftsman bit ratchet . I was maintenance machinist and now I work in a hospital maintenance of medical equipment.
@@GrantButler . Look at power torque from O'Reilly's or klien bit ratchet , the Craftsman is good but the switch mechanism is plastic mine broke but I carry mine and switch it with flat blade. I like it because of the 1/4 box end which is on opposite end of the ratchet end ..if there is a stuck bolt you can put the bit in the box end and break it loose . So you don't stripe the ratchet end.. I have the klien in my work bad and craftsman I carry in my edc pouch every day .
good video i subbed! I just got one and it's gonna be my EDC on work days. The screwdriver part feels WAY better than I assumed it would. i had no idea of that tapemeasure trick so thanks for the info.
Im curious. Okay so I see little symbols on mine. There's a bottle with the cap coming off, a razorblade, and (I assume) a head with glasses and a v shape. I understand the first 2 but what is the head picture. Been searching for like 30 minutes, maybe I'm just dumb. 😅
I see in the Milwaukee site and homedepot and they both say that it has storage for 1 extra blade. Have you seen where this compartiment is? I double checked the model and it is indeed the 1505.
I absolutely love mine This paired with the knipex cobra xs 87-100. The best EDC. If u mainly deal with bolts the 86-100 xs knipex pliers wrench would b the way to go...
I like this knife too, and I want to love it. A few things hold me back. 1. The size: it’s thicker than it needs to be as you mentioned. It’s also longer than I think it should be (compare with say a gerber EAB which is much shorter. If they could get it just under 4” it would 5th pocket carry much better. 2. The liner lock on the driver is set up for lefties! I can’t understand why they did it that way. 3. The pocket clip isn’t deep carry. I really hope they’ll revise this design again, because I think they are very close.
@@GrantButler it’s definitely possible, but it’s slower, and I usually have to think about it. My dream would be to have the driver on a button lock too!!
I guess you can make one side matt by rubbing with some sandpaper to rough it up. My only gripe (besides the weight) is the pocket clip is not as 'deep carry' as the original Fastback (model 48-22-1500). It's deep enough, but the original was completely flush. I could file off the bottle opener as I'd never drink on the job, or worse, pull this knife out at the bar. :) great video. I will have to try squeezing two blades into that space?
😅 same! I had to look pretty hard to find one that wasn't. I know its a gimmick, but so many other multi-tools do stuff like that too, so I'm not going to dismissed it entirely. It's still my favorite, and it's now my everyday carry. It's just so dang handy

Wear safety glasses
@@RBWI what do they think we're doing with this knife? 😅

I totally agree with all but #2 my driver I can open and close with 1 hand, right handed.

Haha could you imagine... "no no bartender, I got this" (whips out pocket knife)
[Audible groan is heard throughout the bar] 🤣
Anyone have a problem with the spare blade falling out? The small clip doesn’t hold it in. Any ideas for a solution/work around?
Is it pushed in all the way till it "clicks"? Mine hasn't fallen out
is the issue on the driver been resolved?
What issue?
