Wow! What an inspirational video. Incredible, man, with only one chord and adding those ideas you can play a lot and don´t sound boring. Thank you very much, Anthony. Peace!
Great lesson Anthony...This makes me practice a lot of the possibilities that are there in just one chord. you have expained that very well. Thanks . Grettings from the Netherlands...
Great lesson Anthony. Oddly enough I have been experimenting with different pentatonics in a key, but I couldn't seem to figure out why a particular one sounded good over others. This lesson is truly helpful. Thank you for making it.

this is incredible .. man you are such a killer player. i was wondering if you could share any of the patterns you use? i am so stuck in my ways and this stuff is tasty.
@@AnthonyMuthurajah i've been practicing one by one all your content, hopefully i will reach the state of being "free" when in comes to soloing specially in tunes with alot of chord changes. =D
Curious what keyboard you’re using to sustain the chords? Is it a standalone or played on daw? I have an old Yamaha stand alone I like to practice with but need an upgrade..btw I love your lessons thank you!!
Anthony Muthurajah I also have a midi keyboard and I use cubase what vst are you using and do you need a sustain pedal to have chords constantly play? Been trying with what I have and couldn’t figure it out..thank you for taking time to answer my questions
Chris Bassartist I use the samplers on logic for my keys. Yes, you need a sustain pedal to sustain the chords else they die quick. Alternatively you can extend them by extending the midi notes. Hope that helps. Cheers
The concern would be shedding them enough to allow your ears to take over in a playing context. All the remembering/recollecting is done in the shed and then FORGOTTEN outside of it. That's how I did it and I would encourage anyone to go about implementing anything in their playing.
Thought for future lessons that feature drones as backing: record 3-4 minutes of the drone and put a link in the description to download it. That'd help. Keep it up!
Thank for the great soloing tips... you really sound great. I'm trying to learn a solo on "the chicken" do these pentatonic scales from the 3rd, 7th, and 6th work on dominant chords as well?
@@AnthonyMuthurajah ok thank you for for responding. You make it seem so easy. I've been a little frustrated with my playing lately. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you for sharing and I hope and pray you are doing well Brother. 👍

Mark my dude! Thanks so much man. Really appreciate the support! Be safe
Great breakdown of the concept and nice phrasing and tone
It has the Evan Marien kind of vibe, super tasty in my opinion.
Yes
You are absolutely ON FIRE Anthony. Hands down you are my favorite bassist, the infinite ideas man.
Thank you very much for sharing this with us...For me, that's are "essentials" to know..🙏
That joke at the beginning made me laugh. Subscribed.

another great lesson and clear explanation and examples. I've never tried or thought of combining pent scales to get hybrid scales - thank you!
Nicely done, very helpful....thanks.

Dude you make a Squier sound so good
Great lesson Anthony. Oddly enough I have been experimenting with different pentatonics in a key, but I couldn't seem to figure out why a particular one sounded good over others. This lesson is truly helpful. Thank you for making it.
There is no better way to make the topic understandable!
Happy to know that!

1:15 I felt that
Haha!
Great Lesson. What are you using to play the underlying chord?
ozzie321 Thanks! Just a pad on Logic Pro recorded simultaneously with my bass.
Very Melodic!
Just amazing! Love your playing style! Is that an Squier Classic Vibe 60? Best regards from Spain!
B minor pentatonic with a G# gives a #11 #5 flavour.
do you have any lessons on soloing for beginners?
Am very glad with you mister Anthony your sound is open a new world for me but, you are going so fast for me. Is it possible to slow it down?
Can you share what your using for the sound of your bass i.e compression or delay, or any effects assisting to help get that tone ??
I will do that in a separate video!
Killing la bro, and nice lighting!
markarolee thanks bro!
Curious what keyboard you’re using to sustain the chords? Is it a standalone or played on daw? I have an old Yamaha stand alone I like to practice with but need an upgrade..btw I love your lessons thank you!!

Great ideas, thanks. My only concern is to remember all these nice substitutions in playing context?

Glad you do!
What if play C#minor pentatonic over C maj7 ?
Thank for the great soloing tips... you really sound great. I'm trying to learn a solo on "the chicken" do these pentatonic scales from the 3rd, 7th, and 6th work on dominant chords as well?
Leo Childs My pleasure! For dominants, it would work from the 6th, not necessarily with the other options.

beautiful intro!
Ignacio Meyer thank you!
Bass sounds like a fender; have you upgraded the pickups? thanks for posting.
Thomas James Only upgrade is the bridge. Everything else is stock. You’re welcome!
What is the name of this backing chord!!
Love this. And I'm not even a bass player.
Anthony, can I apply this concept to minor7 chords? For instance using the 3rd OR 7th of A minor. Thanks
Fabio Machado You actually can, but it takes you into a different space all together. Use it sparingly haha
Anthony, I didn’t understand the last part. So on an Am7 we can play an Em or Bm pentatonic scale?
Jedmanuel91 That is exactly it!
👍
Is there a dictionary of all substitutions?
When bassist solo:
Me: oh yeah
Everyone else: stay in the back (talking time)

Wolf d'Anvers Too many ways haha

Oi tem como você fazer um pouco lento depois rápido
So tasty bro 😎
Julius Jimenez Thanks man!
Ok Spotify... I use a playlist called worship pads... to practice my scales to.
Link, please!?
“If you already play the bass social distancing is taken care of” bruh
you are more talking than teach
Great lesson!
