There is actually a spin off manga my hero academia vigilantes
From chapter 59 to 65 is their backstory
I myself think studio bones should have first made an OVA with their backstory after season 4
Instead of just shoving the reveal in season 5 and not even at least animating their backstory afterwards
@@stargazer8036 right? There's so many OVAs that, while fun, don't really impact the story. The backstories of Aizawa and Shirokumo would be perfect since it's not entirely necessary to understand the situation, but it's a deep story

wow I'm blown away at Eraser's VA in this episode. tbh I felt misty eyed watching this in the sub but after listening to his emotions in the dub I actually shed a tear.
100% agree, i was shocked how good this was i really felt Aizawas pain

oh btw, the blue haired guy when they were young he was a teaser on the picture when they were young, young mic singing, young aizawa eating noodles and him on the background on the every season 4 outro.
Knowing Aizawa's backstory and their friendship/partnership makes this even more crushing. I honestly teared up watching this episode because it was hard to watch and imagine what that would feel like to be in Aizawa's and Present Mic's position.
6:50 that is why Aizawl likes following stray cats. Which just adds to how much he always remembers his friend plus how much …it adds…to the emotional meter ⬆️🥺😭📏😭🥺⬆️.
In the spin off manga My Hero Academia: Vigilantes they had a lengthy flash back arc shortly before this hit the manga, which dived into Aizawa's time at UA and how he became friends with Shirakumo. It really hits you harder since they spend a few chapters building up his character. We also saw Midnight's original costume, which in universe caused quite the controversy to the point where they wrote new laws.
Also keep in mind Kurogiri isn't a new model. In fact he might be the oldest Nomu we have seen. He was the first Nomu we saw, even if we didn't realize it at the time. He was in season one and if I recall correctly we saw him before the one who fought All Might. So there were other mindless Nomu created after him. Now that we know he was created from the body Aizawa's friend when he was in high school and Aizawa is 31, we can assume Kurogiri is over a decade old.
PS: Vigilantes is a prequel, taking place before Deku met All Might. They had another flash back arc that showed Kurogiri was around before All Might got injured and when Sir Nighteye still worked with him. So Kurogiri has certainly been around a while.
Aizawa's voice actor was AMAZING.
I see there's a bit of a mix-up, that scene with the Doctor enhancing Shigaraki takes place after Deika city is destroyed. The next episode is the beginning of the 'My Villain Academia' arc which should clear things up on what exactly happened in the city.
Aziawa and present mic were close friends they mentioned that a couple of times in season 2, they also mentioned that present mic is the one who gave him the hero name Eraser head.
Mic was going to diss Kurogiri for looking after a "gloomy brat", but he stopped because he and Aizawa both remembered Shirakumo did exactly that (Aizawa was the gloomy brat)
This is one of the few episodes where I caved and watched the sub while waiting for the dub; Japanese Kurogiri's read on _"I... am... Kurogiri..."_ was terrifying.
If you want to know about Aizawa's friend, My Hero Academia has a spin off prequel called: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and one arc in specfic details the past of Aizawa from chapter 59 to 65
It isnt that they are “perfecting” the nomu. Kurogiri was made before the other nomus remember. They just keep making nomus and every so often they find someone that is close to a perfect kind of nomu that they wish to create.
I strongly recommend rewatching the moment in the very first episode where Izuku learns that he's quirkless))
The dub was exceptional with Aizawa's speech
It’s a good move on endeavor’s part because if he continued to be there, he could hinder his wife’s transition to living at home by being a constant reminder of her bad past with him.
It’s also better that he gives them all space to heal emotionally instead of being there and just reopening those old wounds with his constant presence.
Seeing Aizawa like this was so powerful it gave me chills and the voice actor did an amazing job 👌
I have been waiting for this episode. I went and read MHA Vigilantes, the spin off manga, to prep for this.
Everything Aizawa does makes so much sense after Shirakumo. They've even given us glimpses, like back in season 3 when they're working on their ultimate moves, when Bakugou accidentally sends rubble falling towards All Might, take a look at Aizawa's face. He was probably having flashbacks to when Shirakumo got caught in the rubble.
Or when Uraraka was blaming herself for Nighteye's death and Aizawa told her to think if this was really what she wanted to continue doing.
And Mic! I love him so much. I loved seeing how much he tried to comfort Aizawa despite the fact that he was going through the same things. His face in the car. His trembling hand on Aizawa's shoulder. When he immediately asks if Aizawa's eyes are ok. Mic is the kind of person to put his friends problems above his own.
DAMNNN the dub's improved so much, Deku's voice actor and Aizawa I feel the most for in change, I really didn't like Deku's VA earlier but I can see he's gotten better
You can see shirakumo in the outro of s4 in the photo of little eraser and present mic
What you saw in the previous episodes (Tomura among the rubble) took place before the "treatment" you saw in this episode, the next episodes will explain what happened there and how Tomura ended up on the Doctor's table

i do like the line in Japanese that Aizawa has when he first activates his quirk. "as if i'd let his parents find out about this" lands a lot harder for me personally, idk.
Interesting, I found the dub to bite more, but opinion are different
Yeah I prefer the sub from far, I can't really hear the same emotion in Aizawa voice, he don't even scream Shirakumo's name like in the sub.

This was actually spoiled for me early on by a UA-cam video thumbnai, and I mean early on from the manga :(
I read the vignette manga and Oboro was one of my favorites so seeing this scene animated hurts a lot. The manga really goes in depth with Aizawa, Oboro, Hizashi, and Nemuri.
The english dub is freaking darn great, honestly.
Unlike in the sub version of this episode, I almost cried when I saw this in dub.
I'm surprised they did this well
@@tehcookievanilla1323 People always say this about dubs like it's still the 90's/early 2000's. Dubs have been good for over two decades at this point, there's a whole American industry that casts talent and professional VA's for anime.

Not saying it's completely terrible, it's just that for a lot of anime I just prefer the sub version and enjoy it more
Bnha dub is good. About other anime English dub idk.. .. Opm English dub is shit. Oh! And mob psycho 100 has good English dub too... Jujutsu kaisen is ok.. And demon slayer was ok too.
Now we're getting into one of the best arcs of the series that leads into an amazing arc in season 6 and 7.

@@ek3241 Not only those but also LoV killing the quirk racists cult is also cut and chances of that showing are also nearly zero.
Love some of the parallels between Deku and Tomura and can’t wait to see when they face each other, also go back to the first episode and pay attention to Deku’s Doctor 👀
So here’s some lovely little nuggets for you.
Let’s start with Aizawa. If he failed to get through to Kurogiri, it’d be even worse than Tsukauchi described. Not only would Shirakumo’s family be brought in, but Aizawa would have to STAY there and STILL have to use his quirk the whole conversation. As only his erasure is preventing him from warping away if he’s not sedated. (Which knowing Kurogiri is a Nomu actually eases me a bit in the ethics department. But also terrifying that they are sedating a corpse.) Also it must be ABSURDLY painful to keep your eyes open for an entire several minute scene, WHILE crying through most of it. I can’t even imagine how much that sucked.
AFO attacks, manipulates, or maybe even just nonchalantly removes quirks he wants by simply walking down the street if his performance in the 2nd episode of this season is to be believed in how fast it happens. He must be a signature component in the Nomu making process. He can both take AND give quirks. The better question is how that operation continues WITHOUT AFO. Also Shigaraki has ALREADY been confirmed to be AFO’s successor. What has not been made clear is wtf that even means. We know Shigaraki was raised by AFO to hate All-Might and although he wasn’t targeted for being related to Nana, that was the cherry on top. But there are no real clues as to where that is leading or the process he’s going through. Other than he’s getting tortured for “unlimited power” by the doctor. The only clue the show has given us of what AFO wanted for Shigaraki is to find his conviction in season 2. Not give him one. But choose his own. So all that remains a wild card for now. But hey, MVA is on its way. So this is a good chance to see more perspective. Which by the way takes place BEFORE this torture scene. So that city destruction was prior.
Also if Kurogiri is such a high functioning Nomu, and he’s considered a model that is not recent when using a corpse that is several decades old, then one must wonder if there are OTHER successes like that. And if the unintelligent ones came AFTER Kurogiri, what UPSIDE is there to keep them so mindless. Because we don’t know when ANY of these Nomus were made or began their productions. So they may just be throwing the old leftovers.
All that for the last thing to talk about. OH MY GAWD URARAKA IS TOTES CUTE. Her keeping her present from Izuku close just makes my day and prevented me from being a COMPLETE sobby mess. (Hope he feels better after his skull got punctured.)
Aizawa is 31. As a Nomu Kurgiri has to be less than two decades old, as he was a second year in high school when that happen they would of been 16 or 17.
@@Narutonarutonaruto85 I mean, I still call that old. It takes some serious preservation conditions to make a corpse last so long. And under these conditions, it does make one wonder if Shirakumo is even dead since he didn’t have to stay in a vat of some kind.

since it don't revealed in anime shirakumo have cloud quirk where he can create white cloud anywhere like kurogiri but without teleportation. hopefully they animate Aizawa backstory too bad the anime studio make a filler episode rarther than animate Aizawa backstory
SPOILER ALERT I guess
Basically Aizawa, present mic, midnight and shirakumo were all best friends. Aizawa, present mic and shirakumo planned to make a hero agency but shirakumo died when he got caught in the middle attack of a big villain.
Shirakumo's head was crushed by falling rubble during a villain attack.
This won’t get adapted most likely since it’s from the spin off vigilantes so I’m just letting anime only’s who are gonna be confused know
Also his body was taken away and came into possession of All For One and Daruma Ujiko. His corpse served as the basis subject for various experiments until he was eventually reborn into the Nomu known as Kurogiri. With his mind completely altered, Kurogiri's only mission in life was to serve Tomura and ensure his safety
Did you notice that the doctor working on Shigaraki in the hospital looked EXACTLY like the same doctor that diagnosed Deku as quirkless?

I felt Aizawa’s pain of losing a friend I mean his friend is there but it is not him anymore it’s like a person is right there but knowing you can’t save them. Which is ….S..Sa.Saaad 😭😫😫😭.
When present mic mention kurogiri job is lame to take care gloomy kid mic froze little bit because he remember young aizawa was a gloomy kid back in the day. I think the anime did not potrayed it well like in the manga on that part
The power of friendship didn't win this one
You probably got this comment a lot already, but there's a spin-off series called My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, set up before the MHA timeline, you can see some familiar faces as well as some new ones, but most importantly, there are some chapters starring Aizawa and his school days along with Shirakumo, Present Mic, and Midnight, it actually adds even more meaning to this episode. It's chapters 59-65, and I'd really recommend you to read them! ;)

Eraser seeing how Shigaraki is perceived the same way that he was by Kurogiri messed me up even more than this episode already made me.

the manga hits off differently because they had a whole spin off dedicated to Aizawa, Present Mic and Shirakumo. They built him (Shirakumo) up before they dropped the bomb of him being Kurogiri which I think hurts more

No no no shigaraki being experimented on takes place AFTER him destroying the city. Shigaraki destroying the city had nothing to do with the experiments cause he didn’t get experimented on yet.
if you are interested there is a spin off comic series explaining the full story of eraserhead, present mic and Shirakumo which I dont think they will get into for the main story, nice reaction and the next episode is gonna be be the start to one of my favorite arcs in the series

Shirakumo's death scene was very sad.. Aizawa though that he was still alive but it was just his imagination😭😭
