US Army Infantry took over for the Marines for a few days, but then they lost ground. Marines had to go back in and re-take the same territory. If you go visit the cemetery, remember to leave a gravetop coin!

That place as special meaning for me. Devil Dog fountain and the whole area. Your best effort yet. Thank you for doing this.

My cousins name is inside the chapel. At one point his family was sent a picture of a grave marker and were told it was his. Turns out it wasnt. It is a beautiful chapel.

@@historyinyourhand1787 I'm glad you did this episode. It feels like the American battle sites of WW1 don't get discussed and I am very curious about them

Hi Rob, how are you? I would like to visit Belleau Wood. It's cool how they have the artillery guns (still intact and maintained over 100 years) there. The shell holes and dug outs are prominent also. I know that there are also many dugouts in other battlefields, but it amazes me to see how prominent they still are over 100 years later.
It's so scenic - such a huge contrast to the battle.
Great historical overview. I like how you show the battlefields (and cemeteries) and talk about the battles as well as the troops who fought in the battle in your videos. It's easy to get caught up in the logistics, tactics, and accounts of who won, but it's also important to talk about the stories of the soldiers (and civilians).
It was great to hear Weeden E. Osborne's story. He was a very brave person. So sad that he (and so many other soldiers) died at such a young age. It's so sad how there are over two thousand graves.
Lol it is very windy. When did you visit Belleau Wood? Is it usually pretty windy?
The chapel is beautiful and somber. It broke my heart to see so many names on the walls.
Excellent video, Rob. Keep up the nice work. Take care :).

For reference, the field guns are captured German 77mm taken during the battle.

Love the content but please do something about the sound levels - Can hardly hear what you are saying.. Had the same problem in other video's. Maybe better mic?

Interesting - it's fine my end on play back - certain points of the video or the whole thing?
