I work in a guitar shop where I see and handle Fender instruments manufactured from all regions of the world and I have to say that the MIJ models are by far the most consistent in quality control, have unrivaled appointments as far as hardware and pickups are concerned, and come in at the best value IMO. Given the choice of a Player series MIM or an MIJ model for the same price; I would choose the MIJ every time. I wish Fender Japan would make a modern contoured body model with the tapered heel and in different pickup configurations such as HSH and HH using the same bridge setup and neck profile as the Aerodyne Special. They would be the ultimate packages for sure. I also wish that they would utilize the 5+5 Freeway Switches versus push pots for coil tapping, splitting, and phasing. Love me some Fender Japan Strat and Tele guitars.

The VAST majority of the raw output tone from an electric guitar comes from the pickups which are easily swappable if you’re even a little competent with a soldering iron. The vast majority of your recorded tone will be from your speaker and mic placement. You’ve fallen for marketing my friend.
I played this exact model today. I was quite impressed with it. I really liked the feel of the curved top. For me it was more comfortable to play than my standard Strat. The tele was pretty sweet as well. The bridge is comfortable to rest your palm on.

I bought one for 599. I can't put it down. It's the sexiest guitar to play. The tone has bite with over drive. But can roll the tone knobs back just a pinch and she is in the sweet spot. Just have to say this is a sick as guitar. The neck also feels so fast and she stays in tune.
@@donmunson4802 The top isn't flat like the usual Strat, it's as thick in the middle but tapers off to the outer edges, creating a curve when viewed from the end, like an aeroplane wing.

Which is quite the guitar for a first, I know haha. But I’m fucking in love with it. And I think it might inspire me to play it a lot.
I bought one last month but it’s the HSS version with burst tone. Now I’m thinking getting a Aerodyne tele or an American pro II tele. Besides price differences why is it getting harder to devise lol.
Got one, haven't opened it up or anything but am curious if anyone knows the switch cavity depth or part number of the 5 way. I will eventually open it up to measure. Haven't yet, just curious for later when I get adventurous what kind of modifications would be reversible with no body routing required. Cant find info on any single coil mount toggle switches, push pulls that fit, or the 5 way, in terms of switch arm length to pass through the face, if the freeway switches are similar depth and spacing. Now its just a curiosity with some unsuccessful web searches. Later I suppose ill just have to open it up. When i have an afternoon.
Ever since my standard American strat got stolen I've been wanting to get a fender strat to replace it but I'm more of a super strat kinda guy now like Ibanez , charvel or Jackson... Which I already have something from all three of those but I really miss my fender. I had that guitar forever and it had alot of sentimental value. They don't even make American standards anymore... They call em professional now but did Jimi Hendrix it Eric Clapton play a standard or a professional? You tell me lol well for those couple of reasons I have not a new fender. I really like made in Japan guitars plus I have enough hardtail and Floyd rose guitars so a guitar with a regular trem is right up my alley. This guitar clicks alot of boxes for me. Even though I'm a humbucker guy now my old strat was single coils so I would not mind this white one here or the California blue one... Although I'd probably get the dolphin grey one with the humbucker in the bridge lol ... Although my old fender American strat that I miss so dearly was Olympic white so yeah I could just get that white one just the same. Even though I love the Ibanez neck or the charvel neck... I really do miss my fender neck. I've thought about buying someone else's standard American strat buy it just wouldn't be the same and I took such good care of that guitar. It is a like a void in my soul or a vast empty hole in my heart that I may never be able to replace or refill.
I just wanna say, the pickups on these are incredible, but despite that i still think the fender 57/62 pickups are an upgrade over these, i own 2 of these both stock and modded with the aforementioned pickups
The neck pup on a strat is my favourite sound ever and that neck pup sound epic! I need a white strat and i can't make my mind up between this one or the guitar guitar fsr, white with a roasted maple neck, red tortoise pickguard and custom shop fat 50's. The neck pup on this is steering me towards this one. What amp was being used in this vid?
I don't know what amp he uses but I've got a small orange practice amp I think it's 25 or 30 watts, and it sounds exactly like this! The neck pickup is my favorite it sounds fantastic
Dagan's right about the bridge. That's one of the few things that actually DO affect tone and sustain on an electric. Density of the material and amount of it has a huge factor.

If it was MIJ, chances are, it’s a quality instrument. You get more for your money going with one of these over an American.

The pickups are set into the body of the guitar, this makes a big difference to the sustain
seeing Dagan play this thing makes me want it more..but I am garbage with my money and already have like 4 guitars in my small room..

The irony is that it is not more aerodynamic, it is blockier than a traditional stat but it is still a cool guitar.
Really nothing aerodynamic about it, it's just sleeker in every aspect. It might be the most comfortable guitar out there. Mne is actually from 2004.

The Babicz saddles sit completely flat on the bridge plate instead of on screws. It gives it an entirely different sound.

I got the pro 2 tele deluxe in mercury and im thinking of getting the Aerodyne in white or a pro 2 strat in dark night, so hard to choose

I'm happy with it just as it is. Inevitably I'll be curious how to add options I won't know how to use.

They should have made the pickups white too to match the rest of the guitar's color, but I guess they match the color of the binding so that's fine.
nah the white pickups look cheap and bad, have you seen the Gray HSS version of the aerodyne? Those white pickups ruined it for me completely
