Thank you Dr, by listening to yourself and others in this space I have reversed alzheimers. I was diagnosed approx 3 years ago - got 17 on the test and couldn’t minus seven at all or draw the clock face. Now I score 30/30 and I can answer pretty fast now. I started eating low carb then did a thirty day carnivore challenge that became a ninety day challenge. I have a bit of salad if I’m out for dinner occasionally, but I’m essentially very low carb or zero carb the rest of the time. All the best on your health journey - I decided that with nothing to lose and everything to gain, it was worth a try at getting my brain working again. It has resolved around twenty other major health issues also 🥩 👍
My mom passed away from vascular dementia in 2008. It is one of the most heartbreaking diseases afflicting the elderly. I worked as a nurse in long term care and wished they had better meal plans for the residents. Of course, that was never important to the company I worked for. Shame on them.
My sister died of Alzheimer’s in a hospice home. They gave them apple juice, popsicles, cereal bars, bananas… her blood sugar was 500 the day she collapsed dead
@@carnivoretribejust sent the video to my five siblings. Our mom has Alzheimer’s disease. She’s 92 years old. I would love to try the local/no carb diet for her for a few weeks to see if anything changes.

I'm sure this will not reach a certain youtuber who puts his 92 year old father suffering from dementia in his videos while claiming in a recent video he eats healthy, eating cereal for breakfast pretty much everyday, eating a bunch of fruit throughout the day, always snacking on something. What a shame.
I know a lot of elderly who ended up with dementia/alzheimers, 2 cases both husband and wife had cognitive impairment, all had one thing in common: diet very high in carbs, sugar, grains cookies, pastries, rice noodles...

I keep wondering why both my parents had dementia. Neither was overweight, they ate relatively healthily, my mother loved cryptic crosswords, my dad held 2 Masters degrees and a PhD. I don’t want to have to reverse this disease, I just don’t want it in the first place. Thx Dr. Paul.
Great presentation on a relevant modern affliction! In my fifties , while on a high carb diet, I noticed rapid cognitive decline in myself, remembering recent events a real chore. Having learned to fast, switch to mostly high fat , keto leaning , more saturated fats and quality protein , I have now halted that heineous process, genetics be damned!PS: stay away from Gabapentin, the high speed rail to cognitive decline!
Thank you for the useful information. It's all well presented. For the past 5+ years, my family has given up all seed oils, and our home cooking only uses saturated animal fat. We are also low-carb, minimizing eating any grain products and nearly eliminating all sugar/sweets.
I went to Amen Clinic and was ok on the low carb diet aspect. They also emphasized checking thyroid and hormones that decline with age. Another thing they deem vital to staying sharp is social interaction like family and friend gatherings. Interesting I was told that math and musical abilities were not neuroprotective, but learning a language is.
It's not just AD, but also the aging brain showing poor utilization of glucose in the brain, Ketones don't erode over time, therefore are a stable energy source.
Thank you. Great Imformation, my wife and I have been on a carnivore diet for the last 8 months. She has had short term memory loss for a number of years and just in recent months has been hearing threatening voices and experiencing paranoia. Mixing up her memories. In this period she has quite dramatically reduced weight, her blood sugar has also returned to near normal as well as blood pressure. She is in a lot of pain due to her right knee being bone on bone, awaiting knee surgery. additionally caract surgery produced infection on the retina and is not able to see clearly resulting in depth perception issues. Your talk is very encouraging and wondering how much of the knee and eye complications are playing into her mental state?
Anesthetic can escalate memory loss I’ve read, is it absolutely necessary for her to have knee surgery? It’s a hard one…the very best of luck to you and your wife in your health journeys. Being on carnivore is surely a great step in the right direction.

Appreciate the content. Thank you. Isn't the beta amyloid plaques as the root cause of Alzheimer's now considered out of vogue? It was based on faulty research was it not? Do you have an opinion on Rapamycin/Sirolimus efficacy for Alz disease or is there not enough data to suggest it's usage? Dr. Mary Newport has released some data supporting the regular use of coconut oil in your diet wards off Alzheimers.
So fish oils don’t provide any benefits? I’ve been taking cod liver oil for the past few years. Maybe I misunderstood what Dr Mason was saying…. at least I hope I misunderstood him.
Dr.Mason is correct. Any benefit you might gain, is offset by the potential damages from the oxidation of the oils. A recent study was done (Pim Jannson et.al.), where multiple commercial Omega-3 supplements were selected at random from store shelves and analysed the presence of aldehydes . They found that virtually ALL of the products had at least 2-3 times the acceptable levels present. You'd get a much better benefit from just eating cod liver. Go to Bart Kay's Y.T. page, and search for the article titled "In 5 Minutes or Less - Omega 3 Oils DANGER!!!". Bart details the pilot study and what they discovered.
@tpbh46. My understanding is that Dr Mason takes Cod Liver Oil himself and also his young children. I heard him say that some time back. Possibly he has changed his mind. Certainly this sounds like it. Wish I knew! I have great faith in his knowledge and opinions, because they all have true basis. Brilliant young man!
Yes fresh fish is best. And fresh meat. From what I recall grass fed meat also has omega 3 , more than grain fed. But still ok to eat grain fed if grass fed is too costly.

yes
Dried fruit has a higher concentration of sugar the regular fruits.
