I had been on thyroxin for 20 years ish without any information whatsoever on my condition from doctors. I was just told my thyroid was low, take this thyroxin and all will be well and handed me a script. Over the years I was feeling more and more crushingly fatigued, was gaining weight, and so much more. I kept saying to myself "what is wrong with me. Didn't even suspect thyroid as the doc said I would be fine. Then an article from an online Thyroid group came up in my feed one day and I read others stories and it sounded just like I was going through. I printed out 5 a4 pages containing a list of all of the symptoms of poorly treated thyroid or untreated thyroid. I highlighted everything that I was suffering with a bright yellow pen and took it to my doctor. Which was at least 80% of that list including anxiety and depression. I handed it to her. She took it, opened it, closed it again without looking at the other 4 pages and handed it back to me. Then she said oh (my name) we are all tired. You are overweight. Lose some weight. And then showed me the door.

I'm a chocoholic. Love sweet things. The other day I crave a chocolate. While I was thinking about going to the shop to buy a chocolate, I drank a small glass of low fat milk (something I rarely do). And what do you know, my craving for the chocolate disappeared. This was Thursday, Friday I went shopping, but I didn't buy a chocolate, I ALWAYS buy a chocolate. I bought kefir and drank that yesterday (Saturday). It's Sunday now, and I don't think of something sweet to eat. I don't know if the milk had something to do with it, but I'm stunned.

4 year Lion dieter here and my physiology clearly prefers Lion with high levels of Vitamin D, whether it be from sunshine or supplements. Everyone’s body is different and, although carnivore improves most people in a substantial way, some people may still need to supplement for optimal function or deeper healing. Make sure you stay strict on the diet and blood test once a year as a barometer.

Doctor, pls pls, tell me-is pork forbidden because of the linoleic acid=omega 6 again, being a mono-gastric animal, thus being unable to degrade it, same as poultry and fish? pls hear me out. Thank you.

Based on the RDA of 150 micrograms and Dr. Berry's recommendation of 12.5 milligrams, he's suggesting a significantly higher iodine intake. Since there are 1,000 micrograms in a milligram, Dr. Berry's recommendation translates to 12,500 micrograms. To find the percentage difference, we can calculate: (Dr. Berry's recommendation - RDA) / RDA * 100 This gives us a difference of about 8,233%.

I went to Amen Clinic and was ok on the low carb diet aspect. They also emphasized checking thyroid and hormones that decline with age. Another thing they deem vital to staying sharp is social interaction like family and friend gatherings. Interesting I was told that math and musical abilities were not neuroprotective, but learning a language is.

How about we stop pointing fingers at each other claiming THEIR DIET IS THE TRUE VILE DIET and instead for each of us to eat what makes each of us healthy? Some people are healthier while vegan, others omnivores, others carnivores. If you're pro eating meat 3 times a day, every day, and feel good good for you! If you feel good eating only plants and mushrooms good on you too!

Improvement in the tools and methods used to explore the diet of prehistoric man have made it clear that the primary form of food was vegetarian. There is absolutely nothing physically that infers humans are “carnivores”. We are opportunistic eaters who did scavenge meat from real carnivores. Carnivores have very short intestines while the intestines of all great apes are extremely long.

The SAD diet is a fad diet. People on that diet avoid food that is good for them. I should know, because I ate a SAD diet for over 55 years and avoided saturated fat, cholesterol, and protein. Now I know better and eat a mostly meat based “fad” diet! 😊

Deliberately avoiding certain foods = fad diet. By that definition everyone who has food allergies has to practice a "fad diet" their entire lives. What a crock. A fad is defined as "an intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, especially one that is short-lived; a craze" but somehow when you put "fad" in front of "diet" its definition completely changes if you ask a dietician.

Can you comment on this? In discussions about nutrition and cancer therapy, there’s often conflicting advice about fiber intake. While some therapies suggest limiting fiber, it’s important to consider the unique benefits of dietary fiber in the context of immunotherapy. Fiber, Gut Bacteria, and Immunotherapy Outcomes: Recent studies suggest that a high-fiber diet can enhance the effectiveness of immunotherapy by fostering a healthy gut microbiome. Here’s how: 1. Boosts Beneficial Gut Bacteria: Fiber serves as a prebiotic, feeding the good bacteria in your gut. These bacteria are critical for regulating your immune system and enhancing your body’s response to immunotherapy. 2. Improves Treatment Outcomes: Research has shown that patients on immunotherapy who consume more dietary fiber tend to have better outcomes. A healthy gut microbiome is linked to stronger immune responses, which is the core mechanism of immunotherapy. 3. Reduces Inflammation: Fiber helps reduce systemic inflammation by producing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) as gut bacteria break it down. This anti-inflammatory effect may complement the immune-boosting actions of immunotherapy. Why Balance Is Key: While some recommendations might advise limiting fiber during chemotherapy or other treatments due to gastrointestinal side effects, immunotherapy is different. The focus is on strengthening the immune system, and fiber plays a vital role in this process. However, it’s essential to: • Consult with your oncology team or nutritionist to personalize your dietary plan. • Gradually increase fiber intake to avoid digestive discomfort. Practical Sources of Fiber for Immunotherapy Patients: • Whole Foods: Beans, lentils, and vegetables are excellent options, like the Super Bean Mix. • Fermented Foods: Include foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, or kimchi to boost probiotics alongside fiber. • Low-Glycemic Options: Choose low-sugar, nutrient-dense foods to maintain steady energy levels. Final Thoughts: For patients undergoing immunotherapy, fiber can be an ally, not an enemy. Its role in supporting the gut microbiome and reducing inflammation highlights its potential to enhance treatment outcomes. While every case is unique, embracing a fiber-rich diet under medical guidance may provide both nutritional and therapeutic benefits.

Bart says: "At the end of the week I've taken in 5700 calories. Did I lose any weight? No, because for most people it's going to be far too many." Clearly, 5700 calories per week is not "far too many", as it is only about 800 calories per day. Almost anyone eating this many calories would experience rapid weight loss.
