- My consoles are all boxed up and I thought I'd look at the best handheld games to play when you don't have a TV. These are the Nintendo Switch games I am choosing to play in handheld mode over the next few weeks.

My wife and I had to move a bunch due to work for a couple years so I definitely sympathize. Really wish you and your family the best. The switch and handheld gaming kept me entertained for those years.

The versatility of the Switch just goes to show why this system is king right now.
I had a blast with breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom. Those two games alone made getting a switch worth it and they play great in handheld mode!
I have so many hours in handheld mode with both those games. Two of my favorite ever made.

Me too. I remember those motion control puzzles… laying on my back holding and tilting the switch over my head. 😅
Would definitely recommend Final Fantasy 6. Great retro game.

Your gaming videos have inspired me to dive more into my switch and play some dredge and Zelda breath of the wild so I can gear up to tears of the kingdom because you’ve made it seem like one of the best games out there right now . Dangan Ronpa was fantastic, but Raincode Archive is going to absolutely blow your mind!
It is a great game. I like the art style. I got the collector‘s edition too… and the detective uniform for cosplay. 😊
Been having fun with fury unleashed. Also loved deadcells. A good screen certainly plays in deadcells favor
After getting a Steam Deck I cannot recommend it enough!
I can play most of my Steam library on the go in handheld mode
Yeah I'm probably going to get one soon. My only hang up is that I'm a physical game player so I'll just use it for PC games with no physical copy like Fallout 1, etc.
Hi Clayton, I have a suggestion: Planet Cube: Edge on the Switch OLED is a fantastic match! Just finished it this morning!
One good game for metal slug/contra fans is "blazing chrome" basically a mix between the two and its fun to play.
Hell yeah. This is where the switch really shines! I travel a lot too and it fits my lifestyle perfectly.
Remnant from the ashes is a great game! Remnant 2 kicks it up 10 levels. Just a great story and the words look great. The game feels great too. Gunfire Games is a small studio in Texas, but they do a great job.
Last time I was at the Arcade in Metrotown Mall they still had that tiger helli game lol.

We are around the same age (I am 41) and just as you I grew up with NES and then played games until my late 20’s and then lost interest and eventually got rid of my, then huge, game collection. I recently bought a switch lite for travelling and playing retro and thankfully that reiignited my lust for games so I also bought a switch oled. Your videos are inspiring (thank you so much for your channel!) so now I am going to create a little space for gaming in my apartment. Now to my question: How do you manage to find time for your gaming? Do you schedule your game time or similar and if so, are you focusing on weekends or do you spend time even on workdays? You have a time consuming job (I am a big fan of Redacted) and a family to support so how do you do? Thank you so much for your channel and all my love to you and Natali. Best regards/Daniel

I love switch in handheld mode. Playing 1000 year door now and it absolutely shines on handheld. SMT5 and Sea of Stars were also on my handheld playing list this last year. Have fun it is the best handheld system of all time imo. Take care
Great selections, a little bit of everything. If you could add another JRPG I would highly recommend Shin Megami Tensei 5.

I would look at a mini Switch dock. Surely you will run into a TV at a hotel or when you are staying with a friend. That way if you want to play with someone you can but it can be tucked away.
Yes I bought one of those convert docks. I bring it to hotels with the kids. A lot of Mario Party games with my kids.

Awesome choices! Out of what you mentioned, I also have Celeste, Dead Cells and Steel Assault, and I've been dying to play them, but just haven't been able to find the time. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these two games!!
In terms of personal suggestions, I HIGHLY recommend "Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Final Bar Line" and "Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance."
As someone who has a personal love for the Final Fantasy series, I think you'd enjoy this little music rhythm game. Truly a wonderful homage to all of the beautiful music throughout the series. Definitely get the deluxe edition or the DLC packs when they go on sale, because the bonus tracks in the DLC are totally worth it!
Then with Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance... Just play it. I'm still working through it, but its an incredibly fun, challenging and addictive turn-based JRPG.

@ClaytonMorris It's a lot of fun. It's an FPS, and you play as a woman who lost her arm, so she attaches weapons to it! It's got bullet-time like Superhot or Max Payne. And wall-running like Titanfall. I haven't finished it yet.
You have some interesting games I’ve not come across, thanks for that, always great to find 😊. Maybe try the new Shin Megami Tensei V Vengence, that will certainly take a worthy chunk of time 😜.

Just picked up alien isolation for the Nintendo switch. Give that a try since I know you played Red Dead redemption on it already but I don't think physical. I've noticed since 4 months ago that physical games and stores have been selling more or sold out in general since the announcement of backwards compatibility with Nintendo.
BitHead 1000 repeatedly refers to dead cells as the best game ever created.

Yes it was.
I love my modded Switch because I can dump all of my games from the cartridge to my MicroSD card and have them all with me at any given time without having to worry about lugging anything extra around. With the Switch Lite, I can just stick it right in my pocket and go pretty much anywhere with it so as far as portability, the need to pack light, and convenience goes, it is hard to beat that arrangement. It is a fairly easy system to mod if you have the first iteration of it, otherwise you need a mod chip and a bit of knowledge about what files to put on your SD card but Aliexpress sells the ones that require a mod chip for super cheap if you don't want to deal with a delicate modding process.
Yes 7 Disgaea games, although i can only vouch for the first 5 games which i like, since i dont like the bland 3D graphics 6 & 7 took they look chibi and cheaply made. Hope they return to pixel art in 8
Have you played Hogwarts legacy yet? It's pn switch and its a decent/good port. The game is awesome, and the combat system is very interesting. Keeping you on you toes in every fight. Very Harry Potter style, and beautiful world. And Hogwarts is awesome!
I have the PS5 version. My son is like 20% through it.
