  • My 2011 Corolla was having an idling issue. By me swapping out the old PCV with a new PCV, the idle issue has disappeared. Thank goodness it was only a cheap fix!

      It is definitely something very common with this select group of years. A lot of people seem to have the same issue and haven't been able to figure it out. Let me know if it helps you. It helped mine for roughly 2 weeks and then out of the blue it started up again.

    I have the same issue with 2013 Corolla, gonna try changing the PCV, and while at it change the intake gasket and PCV valve tube. Will update here once I'm done.

    Whatever engineer that decided to put the PCV valve in that location should get the idiot of the year award. My Tacoma takes about 10 minutes to change the PCV valve on.

      Say it louder for those in the back! The headlight housing on this model of corolla are a pain to fix as well because you have to remove the bumper to get to them. Very silly design.

      @@bossadamsgarage This fix also rarely does anything unfortunately. I still have a intermittent stumble and an idle that likes to hover around 800RPM.
      I recommend people look at their valve stems and injector ports while you have the intake removed. Mine were filthy. Why??? Who knows!

      No update yet. This is probably the trickiest issue I've ever come across in all the vehicles I've owned. Others are looking into the situation as well. I'll be uploading as soon as I figure out this issue. Seems to be very common in this year model Corolla.

    I just finished mine. Unbelievable they expect us to change this out every 30k miles. I got down to that last nut on removal and (of course) it dropped out of the socket down into the abyss. I spent 90 minutes doing the job..but almost 2 hours finding the nut's hiding place. On earlier models, they used to have the PCV valve right on top of the engine. It was super easy to change out. Not sure why they did it this way..very frustrating and just really bad engineering.

    • @bossadamsgarage
      @bossadamsgarage  Місяць тому

      Agreed. Not sure why the engineers at toyota thought that relocating it under the intake would be a smart idea.

    Try spraying some carb cleaner around the intake while it's idling. If the rpms go up and down the intake gasket is leaking. You probably shoud have changed it with the PCV valve. ua-cam.com/video/NrT-FruVKxI/v-deo.htmlsi=m6IiASnEo7-PR2vr

      The lower bolt is a lil bit tricky to put back in..I ended up braking the water outlet to the radiator hose 😅😂.. so it was a learning experience don’t lean on it cus it’s plastic
