Acually the word comic doesn't exist in Japanese. It's called manga because that's the Japanese word for it. When a Japanese person says comic, they say, "漫画" and writing that with English letters is Manga. So we have to understand that Manga means comic but people just created this bridge between the two just because of the western style and the Japanese Style. The same thing applies to Anime. In Japanese "アニメ" means Animation. We have to understand that the word Anime and Manga are Japanese words and not English while Comic and Animation are English words and not Japanese
1:16:05 i relate i to got angry at my art sometime to point that i would stop drawing but now hearing this again i can now wake up and when i draw and say even if the art look like shit that i will get there at some point and i am the best
You guys. I have a lot to say about this episode - all good things. (1) absolutely POWERFUL messages here that are applicable to any area of study and field of work where it is important to find a healthy balance from being influenced and inspired by external factors like a mentor or idol but to balance that energy out with a healthy dose of internal validation where you're not completely dependent on constant positive feedback from people (2) thank you for teaching me the term manhua (3) listening to y'all feels like I'm sharing coffee with my girls - conversations that are relaxed, filled with silly banter, RESPECTFUL opposing opinions, vulnerability, encouragement, lessons learned, persevering, and self-reflections just to name a few. like i def don't know neither of y'all like that but the content of your conversations are very relatable so it carries a familiar feeling that makes me feel like i know y'all personally. it's cool that y'all provoke such feelings within me through your podcast. needless to say, i'll be tuning into your podcast for as long as y'all run it (4) it's always refreshing to hear someone speak about the positive effects of participating in therapy! bruuuuhhhhhh, therapy saved my life this past school year for real. and i'm Filipino, so I can relate to dd.markk's experience with having the community reject the need or deny the existence of therapy and mental health in general. mental health is taboo in Filipino culture too so again @ 1:10:27 i felt that. thank you for sharing that. (5) i think that's the end of my essay here ... i wish y'all all good things and resilience thru the bad things. great work - keep it up!
Thank you so much for the insightful comment! I really didn't expect this at all! (this is third talking), You just made my day TvT. We will do our best to make the future episodes better, always stay tuned :D
I agree with the comments about the MHA art style shift because I read most new Shonen jump series look so much like MHA. Like Super Smartphone, Red hunter Guild etc. Like I've just felt everything looks like MHA as I've been reading lately and I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Let me say DD Mark. Let me show you how much your words at the end of the video have gotten me out of an art/life rut that I've been putting up for the last pbrly 6 years and I'm 25. - ❤ Let me follow the advice your sister reminded you about yourself and get a rivalry too. You'll see how much this episode really changed my life, honestly. - Let's fire 🔥 up others to get back there passion they lost sight of as a community!! Let's go hard at proper rivalry and take this episode and run. ❤ Let's go and do it gals and guys!! Show me what you got, and watch me! ❤ (btw I'm going to listen to this at the gym after work everyday ty more than I can say)
Great job guys ! The idea to see you two talking about all of this in a Q/A formula is really amazing, I can really recknowing myself in some of themes you talked about. I feel really impressed but also really respectul about what you two creating and the time and efforts you put in all you doing. Can't wait to see your nexts videos !!! It's really awesome while drawing, I can assure you that !
I agree on that manga takes more skill than webcomic because with webcomic you are still follow the same path as manga when you are learning art in general but few things that takes more skill with webcomic than manga is that you have to learn blending layers, and using the right contrast and advantages of overcontrastinh makes a big difference from the average to a pro. For example when I compare solo leveling author with OPM. Overall OPM takes more skill. but the way solo leveling utilize its blending layer in digital with its precise color theory, is another outstanding skill that differentiate skills
Just wanted to say I love your choice of background music, often times when hearing podcasts there either is none or something that I don't like; also I'm very grateful for you sharing your thoughts, this is great to listen to while drawing; I can't wait for future episodes!
Loving the podcast! It's so refreshing to hear artists who always say "don't compare yourself!" There's a healthy way to compare yourself and an unhealthy way and you guys nailed describing the right way to do it.
Excellent episode and content, fellas! When you guys mentioned the unfortunate and mysterious passing of Dubu, the Karoshi issue immediately came to mind. I've heard of so many comic artists, mangaka, animators, etc. pushing themselves to the point of death because of overworking, malnutrition, and absolute exhaustion. I know it's a depressing topic, but I wonder if that's something you and Third ever discuss off to the side... and more importantly, how to maintain a balanced lifestyle so that you won't get burned out.
This is Third Speaking, DD and I often talk about our schedules, and it's hard honestly, balancing our own lifestyle, preventing our social life to disappear while doing the job we lobe at the same time can be difficult. But hey That can be a Topic for the future podcast :D
@@theartcastpodcast7280 Thanks for the response, Third! You guys are only two episodes in, and I already feel like I'm getting so much out of it. It's highly entertaining to listen to while I draw. Keep up the excellent work, guys!
i used to struggle with some of these issues so its very inspirational to hear you guys openly talk about these topics also i like how the time lapse changes depending on the host of the episode i think its a neat touch
My name is 34 gummpy and I am on IG so I think I prefer manga cause manga is a way you have to learn analysing and developing your and it depends if it takes for weeks or months
This was one again very inspirational. I'm working on improving my skills as well. I haven't been pulled into the validation trap but I'm trying to start aware to the fact that I'm not immune to the temptation of it. So this was great. And shout out to Third for the prefect outro🤣🤣🤣
Hey I love the podcast it's very entertaining! Just making a precision, manhwa is Korean, Solo Leveling type stuff, manhua is Chinese and from what I've seen kinda hated by webcomics enjoyers (because it's often not very good tbh)
Pls I wonder what website this people use in drawing I may be sounding crazy but seriously and I love this podcast third is good at art and DD MARK a Nigerian artist I am a Nigeria if DD MARK made it I can make so go on with ur podcast I give u my thumbsup
Manga, manwah and even manhua are all "comics" in their respected culture the only difference is how it's executed therefore their "style" is different. Good example, "Chinese food" is just regular "food" for Chinese people but to nonChinese it's specifically food from "Chinese people" and/or culture lol. It's like you said interchangeable lol.
Damn I loved the podcast But the thing I am sad about ryt now is That I had completed a good piece of art while listening to this But when I had completed it and exited I unknowingly deleted it🥺 And now I am going to have to redo it 🥺🥺 But it was fun listening to the podcast For the first time in a very long time I did my art without any distraction thanks to u
About the people comparing us to other artists, I don't get that a lot because I have a small community But I've created a character for my last one shot and at least 5 people (that's a lot for me) told me that she looked like Isabella from The Promised Neverland and I couldn't care less because I created her based on Isabella and she looked even more like her in the first version And it also didn't affect me because I didn't focus on the character designs, I was focusing on finishing and publishing my first One Shot, I wanted to create great dialogs and panels, and to create an original story, and I succeeded to those points, I think... 😅 And what I want now is to improve my art because everyone told me that it was shit (that it wasn't good) 😅 This comment is really useless and no one cares, why did I write it

These guys hype up Murata alot. I'd say there are plenty of artists out there who are better then Murata. So no imagination needed, just look at the art out there and you will see people better then him.
This is third speaking, Saying murata is the best is a subjective statement, We are fully aware that there are other artists out there who are objectively more skillfull than him, but as humans, we all have different preferences :D Plus Art aint that really objective

Red hunter Guild was drawn by horikoshi's assistant so that might be why they look so similar
