Ali vs. Frazier II, billed as Super Fight II, was the second of three bouts between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Ali would come out on top in the rematch with a unanimous decision victory.
Unlike the first and third bouts, which were 15-rounders for the World Heavyweight Championship, the second fight was a 12-rounder for the North American Boxing Federation heavyweight title.
Ali, the No. 1 contender, was out to avenge his 1971 loss to Frazier and secure a shot at World Heavyweight Champion George Foreman, who had dethroned Frazier the previous January.
Frazier, the No. 2 contender, wanted a chance to regain the championship and avenge his 1973 defeat to Foreman, the sole blemish on his record.
On January 23, Ali and Frazier visited ABC studios in New York City to review their first fight with commentator Howard Cosell for ABC's Wide World of Sports, which would air two days before their rematch. This would result in the infamous studio brawl that resulted in both fighters being fined $5,000 by the New York State Athletic Commission. - Спорт
Joe Frazier wasn't a fighter he was a brawler and Muhammad Ali PUNISHED his FACE!
Speak the Truth
I'm enjoying the O.J. Simpson interludes between each round....lol
Great fights and a great time in life. I miss those two great Men RIP.
The 12th round is representative for the entire rivalry of these two great fighters.
Scored 116-112 Ali.
Exactly 48 years after this fight happened.
RIP Muhammad Ali - RIP Joe Frazier.
Love the World Wide of Sports theme and video
Or, Wide World of Sports. I'm so old. Each applies!
Never again has the ring been so crowded. They are the greatest of all times.
Yes they are, let's throw in foreman and every other champion of this golden era
Nah Ali is .
Ali best years of boxing where taking away because he would not fight in the Vietnam war for three years and Iron Mike Tyson for alleged allegation’s I think Ali will always be the greatest he was getting to be past his best here and taking to many head shots Smoking Joe was a bull of a man with his head down style and constant forward attack Rip Ali Rip Fraser two of the GOATS of this greet sport

Nobody’s gonna mention that lit opening from ABC sports lol
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Back in the 70s that's how all the great sports events came on ... on ABC and they had world series super bowl boxing of course was on regular Chanel free Olympics any sports ABC had it and u watched that OPENING with the skier 🎿 flying off path and all that shit ....
My favorite round is round nine, where Joe opens up by taunting Ali saying, "Come on! Come on!" And Ali responds by connecting continuous jabs while Frazier swing hooks in vain. Ali! Ali ! Ali!
Perez let Ali hold too much in this fight, Joe couldn't get his momentum going like the first fight.
When we were in 5th grade and putted on the gloves to fight The Ali ring dance was the hit parade , but nobody couldn't keep it up after two rounds. I think no boxing fights in the world could had more tv viewers than Ali fights.
Damn you old broski 💀😳🚶♂️
If you skip straight into round 12 after round 1, you'll notice a only small difference in how they fight. These warriors have insane endurance.
you want to see insane stamina 🥊
go watch Ali vs chuvalo in 66 and jump to ROUND 15 man Ali threw over 100 punches and landed just about 100... I'm pretty sure that will never happen again
@@active.7universal that's Ali's first time going 15 rounds, the stamina it would take to do it is insane , great fight & Chavalo was one tuff s.o.b, never knocked off his feet in 89 fights.

Поразительная выносливость удержания смертоносных ударов
Great performance by Muhammad Ali. Fit on point, well done.
Props for including the Wide World of Sports intro with the iconic "agony of defeat". A classic battle between 2 of the greatest, classic broadcast, with a (ahem) killer cameo.
HAHA youre too slick with that one
Every time and then I must watch this REAL BOXING, instead what´s happening nowadays. Thanks for great upload.
Yeah it’s actually sad the state of boxing nowadays. Tbh I’ve shifted to mma because that sport is evolving and it’s full of fighters who are the best, fighting the best, unlike boxing where it’s mostly the best ducking each other and padding their records. I tell you what though, the fury wilder 3 fight as much as I thought was a waste of time and didn’t need to happen didn’t disappoint at all and gave a much needed shot in the arm for at least hw boxing.
When O.J popped up i almost had a heart attack... lol
Whats the problem? The man can’t do his job?
Oj when I didn't kill you or steal your jewelry
why ? he didn't have his gloves on

These videos are great, thank you!
A staple of Ali's fights: Bundini yelling in the background.
Ali was six feet four but he moved like a light heavyweight in his earlier fights OJ Simpson did look young liked his Afro style haircut Ali was back on his heels dancing in round ten Ali was always a step away when Fraser threw a punch the twelve round one of the best the decision was close but Ali deserved the win Fraser was very respectful
What a second battel between these two legends, I love the stance of Ali and the way he unloads those flurries and his overall accuracy is impressive. However that low profile and wind up punches from Frazier are devastating, great fight!
They were the best
Whatever happen to the fellow reading the sports news around min 18? He was in movies even at one point
Frazier's style along with Norton's style was most difficult for Ali to fight against. Foreman's style was able to handle Frazier and Norton better. Ali admitted Foreman hit hard and dangerous but if he could get Foreman tired out by throwing punches he could counter attack Foreman. Getting Foreman to have to go longer than he was used to fighting his opponents was the key to beating him.
Against Foreman, Ali was very aggressive from the start. He shook George up with hard shots in first round and repeatedly beat him to the punch
@@BoxOfficeVegasLLC that's something people rarely talk about, ali was very aggressive in that fight baiting George to react with wild draining punches
Smokin'Joe is my man. And OJ killed the buzz.
That's not all he killed
A killer performance, with killer commentary ;)
hee hee hee!😁😁

This fight really needed to be a 15 rounder! Still a great fight!
It's not a championship fight. Therefore it's not 15 rounds

OJ shattered glass ceilings in broadcasting early, even though he wasn't that good, people liked the JUICE...
@@bradleykline7937how famous was OJ for younger people
OJ's shimmy when he talks lmao
Yeah, what the hell was that? Looking like he was trying to juke a linebacker on a off tackle run.
He’s not doing that no more.
He was nervous AF but displaced it all to his shaking body and a bit of quiver in his voice - working hard to try to hide it, desperate to fake self-confidence, but clearly terrified.
GREAT FIGHTERS 🥊🥊🎩🎩🏏🙊🥂👨🎓
Any boxers on here. Just wondered when boxers are grappling in middle of the ring, holding on to each other, do they whisper things in the others ears like, that last punch didnt hurt, or ile get you in the next round etc
This Second Fight is not as Thrillingly as Fight 1 &. 3. But, it's still a very Entertaining Fight. 1love
Nice fight
17:25 I love the way Ali dances in the ring
Ohh... Yes... goo ... goo ... oll of you ❤️ !
Ali holds a lot against aggressive fighters like Frazier and Spinks
what was on the undercard this evening?
Ali DANCING again! Unlike the first fight. Not the 60s but good enough to smoke Smokin Joe. Ali is the GREATEST of all time!

OJ was killing it on his segment. His segment sponsored by Acquit all size leather gloves. And Juice energy drink.

ALI LEGEND
Not taking anything away from Spinks, Holmes and Berbick wins like Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Moore, Patterson, Chuvalo, Norton, Lyle, Young, Shavers, Cooney, Etc they were great fighters too but Ali with early stages of his Parkinson's along with years of body and brain damage fighting was clearly a shadow of the fighter he was when he fought Frazier, Second Fight Against Norton, Foreman and even Lyle. Thrilla In Manilla was the last of the classic Ali we know. It also helped Holmes being a sparring partner of Ali. This is why I believe Frazier would have also had a difficult battle beating Norton if both fought because Norton was also his sparring partner.
A cabeça de Alí voltava para traz com os GB Frazier em todos os raud

Nobody ever took points away from Ali for holding behind the head. He was never deducted a point in his career. It would have been different if he fought today
it's called clinching/a legal strategy
boxing nowadays is a joke//Tyson fury vs wilder total punches thrown by fury 332 //Ali vs chuvalo in 1966 Ali threw over 100 punches and landed just about 100 in ROUND 15 alone/go watch and count for yourself
@@active.7universal holding behind the head is illegal

They also didn't take any points from Joe for hitting below the belt.
For my money Ali won all three fights against Frazier. I watched the fight of the century again yesterday for the umpteenth time where Ali won rounds one, two, three, four, five, nine, ten and fourteen and Frazier all the other rounds. All these fights followed the same pattern - Frazier receiving the far greater punishment with both eyes closing in all three fights. Frazier was a gallant fighter but Ali and Foreman both had his number.
Surr, except ali was pumbled fight 1
Thats the Whay you have thoo fiight ... boos ... 🇨🇭💕😊 !
Whoever the 1 person who disliked this video is, you must not be a boxing 🥊 fan
its a sad virgin who saw his dad being beaten by joe and ali
Greatest fight ever on 🎥film
Def not the best
Ali vs Frazier was textbook boxing.
That's a freaky O.J. appearance between rds 7 n 8.
"Freaky" to you because I assume you're young. lol. It's probably hard for younger folks to fathom, but O.J. was very popular in the mainstream back in the 70's. Almost the way that Michael Jordan is revered today.
@@lwmson At least Michael Jordan never killed anyone.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 I said the 70's, which was almost two decades before the murder of his wife. The perception of him was dramatically different then.
@@lwmson That's not really the point. Any appearance by O.J. Simpson will appear freaky now whether the viewer knew him before the murder or not.
There was a celebrity in the UK called Jimmy Savile and any film of him that's seen now is disturbing both to people who initially knew him as a TV presenter and to those who only know him for what he was revealed to be.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 Of course it would appear freaky now, given all that has transpired over the decades. But back then, it didn't. I know it is hard for you to imagine it, but O.J. at the time was considered to be a clean cut, personable celebrity.
I only got round by round summary sponsored by Curlee Shoes of Des Moines in fight one. KCBC could not get broadcast rights.
I think this had been a very dangerous fight of the last century - I am an on- looker only; i am saying this only after the commentators' sayings as well as the shouting of the observers in that match.
Word
That announcer kills me lol
Nice
Love that poster that makes Joe bigger than what he is in relation to Ali🤫😉!
Man do you have the fight between Henry Tillman and Willie DeWitt?.
I should have their fight from the '84 Olympics, but I don't believe I have their pro fight. Now that I think about it I can't recall ever seeing that fight. I'm not sure what network/broadcast it would have been on. Might of been a Canadian broadcast if it exists out there somewhere.
So much holding by Ali!
The First fight was pretty good
Unfortunately a lot of Ali's fights weren't classics, and ended up being ali taking a massive amount of head trauma for 12 rounds while still winning on the scorecards with softer punches by which he would walk away with a unanimous decision. Ali was an innovator but so was niccolino, probably moreso and no one claims he was the greatest of all time.
It's funny seeing OJ in anything other than a court room
Tony Perez did not like Muhammad Ali, PERIOD!!!
i agree in one of the early rounds , ali had frazier in trouble , yet perez stopped the fight before the bell rang , also in the wepner fight with ali , perez was a joke !
the OJ jumpscare lmao
It to me alis best fight floated like a butterfly stung like a bee joe missed cause he couldn't see r i p both champions
Watch it
Did anybody notice the hurler getting murdered in the intro
The mob at its best at 13:08 with Frazier stumbling backwards and Ali firing away, the ref hears a bell no one else hears and stops the round... Really ??????
Hahahahaha...no mob shenanigans, man. Sometimes, shit actually does just happen. Ali was still a member of the Nation. Not even the mob was fucking with that!
Yeah as much as mob did pervade boxing at this time I don’t think that’s what happened here. It’s so damn loud in there that sometimes the bell just straight up isn’t heard or a ref thinks a bell rings when it doesn’t. Plus I’m pretty sure at this point when Ali was heavily involved with the nation these fights were like swamped with fbi and other federal agents and law enforcement plus at that point in time as tough as the mob was they didn’t really want no smoke with the nation.

If you ever wondered what an Ali Tyson fight would have looked like. If Tyson would have gotten thru Jo Frazier and George Forman.
A Forman Tyson fight would have been a lot like the Forman Lyle fight.
Joe didn't throw any low blows like he did in the first match
Cause Ali wore his shorts waaay up like Urkle
I don't know why this happened but Cosell's commentary between 12:47 and 14:26 was clearly delivered after the fight.
the same reason the ref stepped in at about 13:08
@@HendrixRipoff I don't see a connection, to be honest.

Shannon Briggs yelling in the crowd!
that was only the 50 percent of joe frazier
only 50% of a young Ali
Sem dúvidas o Joel Frazier foi roubado nesta luta .
Joel Frazier deu mais gb na cabeça mais cruzado , Alí tomou uma sura de Joel Frazier
I think what’s crazy is Ali managed to distinguish himself as the greatest in the golden age if hw boxing when the absolute best heavyweights of all time mostly existed within the same period and fought each other, and he managed to do it after his prime years. Imagine what his career would have been like in boxing and what we missed by him being robbed of his prime. But at the same time all of what happened sort of culminated in his overall greatness because of all the things he did outside the ring as well but man, it’s a damn shame we never got to see it.
wow, oj simpson looked so confident.......
OJ: the Detroit Wed Wings. lol
Ali should have been throwing more uppercuts when frazier was in close. I haven't seen him throw any upper cuts in the fights with frazier. Just saying
In my eyes Ali had good combination & got more points from the begining to end. But i dont know why Frazier won at the end. I guess Ali was not in a good position due to his new religion, not join army & talk for the rights of black people. So on that time it was much corrupt system too. But anyway Ali showed that we should keep going even if everyone is against you. And he beat Frazier 2 times after that. Respect! 🙏🏼
Huh? Ali won. Are you sure you watched the right fight?
He was talking about the first fight. Read the entire post.
@@t.wil.9646 I can't read. Illiterate
Bruh Frazier was whooping on Ali in the first fight u sound stupid
Frazier won the first fight fair and square.
Yes Ali won this fight convincingly but he didn't win it as fast and easy as he predicted 5 days earlier when he was arguing with Frazier taunting him on Wide World Of Sports with Cosell.
Ali's movement was never the same post-ban. Before that his jerky offence-defensive movement and feints were uncanny where he leaned back and forth from the waist while on his toes with perfect balance: putting him in position to attack opponents and get his head out of the way, even by a whisker (especially against Liston, Terrell and Williams). Great as Frazier was, and despite Ali's vulnerability to a fast left hook; the Ali of 1964 - 67 would have given Frazier nightmares and without having to prove his durability to the degree he had to post-ban.
Though Ali clearly had the decision, Frazier made Ali adjust his approach a couple times during the fight. There fight had some back and forth and Ali had to adjust throughout to regain advantage. Not so much overall drama as the other Ali-Frazier fights, but a very good fight between two excellent heavyweights.
i doubt he really cared ...he had him going in round 2 ..but they stopped the fight
I get the feeling Joe Frazier just wasnt willing to go through the depths of hell like he was in the 1st and 3rd fight. He wanted to try to win taking less damage.
Maybe because there wasn't a world title on the line.
And the ref not letting joe work on the inside
29:41
Ali was never really Ali Ali after the jail time . Being arguably the greatest ever he came back and beat some great fighters though.
Foda 🥊💥
I like that OJ guy, whatever happened to him?
Why did the referee never sanction Ali ...? I spend it grabbing Joe the whole fight, and he played very dirty. !!!
And Joe hit Ali low repeatedly.
As good as he was, Cosell was such a biased commentator when Ali was involved...
You'll hear it in all commentators, there human like we are 😅
ALI'S combinations won it.
Frazier was born for one night of greatness, to win the fight of the century. Ali's was born to be the fighter of the century and dominate two great era's of heavyweight boxing - Smokin' Joe couldn't. Their first fight changed boxing and brought riches to the sport thus bringing a new breed of athletic fighter. Ali could match them for size and top them for talent; Foreman, Norton, Lyle, Blue Lewis, Mac Foster, Henry Clark, and Jose Luiz Garcia who KO'd Norton their first fight (Ken revenged before his Ali trilogy). While smaller Frazier lost too much in his first Ali and Foreman fights, and had no good match on the horizon with a dangerous Ernie Shavers, a slick Jimmy Young an upcoming Larry Holmes and Leon Spinks. Joe and Norton both fought for Eddie Futch an were too dangerous for each other though I think Frazier would've stopped him, but others. All fighters saluted Ali for making their sport the historic during their careers, all except for Frazier - They're in boxing heaven right now talking crap and trading blows with nothing but kicking that ass for a reward.

Stupid referee 🙄 that seemed very unfair..just as Ali rocked Frazier in the 2nd round.. Joe was ready to go down ... If that ref hadn't made such a mistake maybe the fight would have been over in the 2 nd via TKO or KO
4/28 watched twice
They both look well past their prime in this one. Ali can still run away, lean on Frazier, and defend with good fitness but even in his prime he had no power and for this fight it looked further diminished. Joe looks worse in every way than the previous fight.
I'm still trying to find the fights where Ali was great let alone "The greatest". His nickname should have been "the heavy bag" because his greatest ability is taking punches without falling down.
