The begining of the hunt in Bloodborne is a damm curse for me! Espescially that werewolf, omg! This S.O.B. killed me at least a 100x! Thank god i finally killed him with an axe and a shotgun!
Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 deserved a mention. In the last third of the first mission, your squadmates are kidnapped and you lose the weapons you had except the sidearm. Then you have to fight through tunnels alone with awkward covers, and the fact that you die after just a few hits makes it a real pain
Lmao it’s not like it was a dead language. I’ve heard people complain about not knowing what slalom is. But the rest is pretty basic. And honestly slalom is pretty well known too.
@ yeah I was also young. And not a ski fan. But knew what it was. My brother was about 13 and he had no idea. But in my opinion that tutorial was necessary to get you ready for game play. The survival mode especially, that shit was Brutal !
What about Indiana Jones on Atari?? First stage was impossible to beat because we had no freaking idea whaf we were supposed to do or even use 2 controllers
6:16 i almost got gold but the more you upgrade your ships and rank,it's gets harder.in the N64 was the ranking system only.if you didnt find the upgrades,was an uphill game.but some upgrades was on other farther missions.
The original PS1 Armored Core had a brutal opening. When you start the game, it drops you into a battle with two enemies, and expect you to learn the controls while under fire, as the enemies attack you right away And of course, unless you read the manual, it will not tell you the controls in game. And if you die, the game kicks you back out to the title screen.
Honorable Mentions: *Village of Calamity - Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty -This us due in large part to the boss at the end: Zhang Liang, General of Man. He's unrelentingly aggressive, barely gives you a moment to breathe, the deflection timing DEMANDS perfection, your AI partner is practically useless since he barely ever attacks him to draw his aggro, and as if that weren't bad enough, there's a second phase where he becomes a monster.
The prologue boss was the hardest boss i can remember 😅😅😅 i think i was pressing the wrong button to parry but once i got the timing right i was whoopin him
Princess Yukiko's Castle in Persona 4 is probably responsible for more game overs than the rest of the game put together, just because you start out so weak and the upper floors contain dangerous enemies that catch you off guard if you rush it. Beat the 1st boss, and they're replaced by a much harder one if you return there.
Medal of Honor Allied Assault. First level had you on the beach of Normandy & it was hard as hell. Once you past it the rest of the game was surprisingly easy.

I played Super star wars, RE4, Ikaruga, Dragons Lair, Another world, The Simpsons Bart vs Space mutants, Back to the future 3, Contra, Superman 64, Super ghouls and ghosts, and driver. Most of these games I haven't got past the first level. I got past level 1 in Superman, but died right away on level 2 because I had little time to figure out what to do. Contra wasn't that hard for me especially level 1. I normally die in Contra around level 5 or 6.
Ninja gaiden or Ninja gaiden black has one of the hardest intro levels imo if your just a casual player. But there are ways to get better. The game has a learning curve but is overall pretty balanced imo. Especially Ninja Gaiden 2 which is even better at balancing I think.
Driver being number 1 is well deserved. It's the one game that most people who played it never actually beat meaning so many never even got to play the actual game as the tutorial doesn't really show off much of what the game has to offer
Nah, It took me like 3 days to pass the first license test in the original Gran Turismo despite my already owning a dual-shock/analog controller. Also, the first level of Bubsy!
Duriel in Diablo 2, on normal difficulty! Probably most ‘Difficulty Spike’ in gaming history! Harder games exist! But NODODY was ready for Duriel there first time fighting that boss! 😂
That was the dungeon, not the drawbridge. Also, that third hit on the golden armor is really just the shield, and only if a projectile hits it just right.
Father Gascoigne’s 3rd phase made me put the game down for months until I decided to internet a way no matter cheesy to pass the extremely aggressive final stage, the molotov strategy not working as expected… Enter the stairs cheese! 😆 From then on, 66 hours after, I finally found why it was such a respected game! 🤘 Even with my second run, spamming the spin-to-win axe made me appreciate BB more!
For me Bloodborne has the hardest starting area in any recent FromSoft title. Yes, even harder and more punishing than Sekiro. Knowing the layout and getting the two shortcuts to both bosses is absolutely essential here. I personally didn’t have much issues with either Cleric Beast or Father Gascoigne but getting to either of them was another story.
I wonder if they ever fixed the game breaking bug on the PS5 for Nier Automata. I was really enjoying it until the bug. Never got out of the garage in Driver.
Central yharnam wasn’t a bad place to live. I spent close to two years there chillin. Good people there, like to party. Not too fond of outsiders but they’ll warm up to you quickly.
I bought resident evil remake during black Friday weekend because I use to play it on the ps2 n never finshed it and it's been so long I'm yet to get past the villagers

Jungle from Contra was definitely not a hard level when you took your time because the controls were perfect. For a first level, it was about the easiest on this entire list.
Driver was the easiest. I honestly don't get why people thought it was that hard. Super Ghouls and Ghosts is the hardest (or rather cheapest) first level by far.
Ghosts'n Goblins from 1985 (Capcom).. At least 90% of players probably couldn't get past the first level.. Maybe even 99% of players. lol There is at least one guy on UA-cam who completed Ghosts'n Goblins without losing a life...He made it look easy. I completed some hard games like Moonstone on Amiga and Syndicate on Amiga among others. In fact i completed Moonstone 2 more times while friends were watching as they didn't believe it were possible to complete...
I did make it through Hoth, Angry Villagers, Death Star, Death Everywhere, and - Ugh! - The Rings. Full disclosure, I used Action Replay on Angry Villagers, but I DID earn a Gold Medal on Death Star and, unlike Endurance, I played fair that time.
Nioh 2 is impossible for me, can't getting past the first level, I don't think that I was as mostly half ways of it. Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 & co are ridiculously easy as comparison, like stealing a candy from a newborn toddler, no no no that's much easier than that. Nioh 2 makes me so angry by just thinking on it. Top-5 worst game ever for me.

Literally took me and my cousin Forever to beat drivers first level. And we finally FINALLY did. We had a game that just.. wasn’t fun

The first game brought back so many memories. I loved that game. Played it with dad as a child.

The first dungeon of Shin Megami Tensei 4 is brutal. I remember dying in the tutorial battle, because the enemies kept critical hitting me.

What was difficult about it? It was quite easy imo.
If nioh2 is on this list .. it took me 6 hours to beat that first level and i remember yelling out “this was only the prologue”
