After seeing this 2 Australian friendlies I am realizing a lot. Which is not really such a bad thing to start new young legs. Take for example who didn’t notice that Casey Murphy is way better than Adriana French. Now imagine having her as a replacement for Alyssa Naeher. Also same goes for some few other positions in the team too. This young girls are killing it 🤟🏽.
I just love the way Emily Fox and Sullivan have come along since they were elevated to international status. Both were a bit uncertain and lacked assertiveness (aggression?) when they started out but now they have found their stride and their level of confidence and are happy to get tough when they have to, especially the duel of Fox and Russo. Taking the ball away from Fox is very hard work.
I agree. Lavelle still has a hard time to pass the ball before the goal and wants to do it all herself when there were at least two situations where she tried and missed the goal when she should have passed the ball to players in a better position to shoot a goal.
What a terrible referee from Korea, he didn't sanction several fouls by Raso, Carpenter, and Kennedy, and one penalty inside the 18 yards square. Also, the line-women stopped plays by lifting the flag at the wrong time. Because mistakes done by the referee the U.S. lost several more goals at least 3 more. and a very clear penalty within the 18 yards square, on LINDSEY Horan. Australia should have at least 5 yellow cards. But, it didn't happen. When the referee loose control of the game is when more players become injured and other start playing dirty. What a pitty. All these take the nobility of this wonderful sport.
I found the Korean referee adequate but somewhat myopic. Her peripheral vision seemed to be poor. By the way, the box is not a 18 yard square but a rectangle. Ironically, the referee missed just as many fouls committed by the US team as she did the Australian team which made her oversights less consequential over the long haul.
