  • Is it too easy now? I'm not sure yet.

I never played with the old spawn rates, but I have nearly 1000 hours in the game and think the spawns are good where they are. My friends are massively struggling to play mages in the ashlands (they're not the most skilled videogamers) while I'm playing a sword and board and thriving, but I'm good at the game. It is not so hard that people who aren't good gamers can't get a foothold, and its not so easy that I, as a skilled player, am able to walk through the ashlands unmolested.

Yeah the spawn rate is fine now.
I'm in a similar situation with my friends and most of them found it unplayable before the spawn rate patch.

People complqining about the nerf... I'm just glad the balance between exploration peace and combat is back. It was really tiresome fighting mobs constantly while trying to explore.
And yeah, it's not that the mobs are too difficult. There's just too many mobs spawning ALL THE TIME. It's the fact that I have to fight 24/7 just for wanting to gather some smokepuffs.

Keep in mind that you have full Ashlands equipment and food here, so yeah, obviously it's going to feel easy. Think back when you first arrived in the Ashlands without that.
The Charred Warrior is the equivalent of the Black Forest Greydwarf Brute and the Archer is the equivalent of a Shaman. How long would we have lasted in the Black Forest upon first entering it had there been a 50% chance to spawn a Greydwarf Brute and a 40% chance to spawn a Shaman every four minutes, along with a 55% chance of four Greydwarves every 110 seconds? Not long, that's how long we would have lasted. And those are the current stable build Ashlands *daytime* spawn rates, never mind the nighttime ones. And that also ignores the fact that it's quite common to have to fight six different types of enemies at once in the Ashlands, amping up the complexity without those super high spawn rates.
The stable build spawn rates are absurd and make it annoying to even hold the ground you are standing on, much less push forward. Remember how we used to have to place Campfires every 20 meters in the Plains just so we didn't have to refight on the same ground over and over again? I sure don't.
They can ramp things back up a little bit, and they probably will, the same way they did a too-hard nerf on the Gjall after the Mistlands update then backtracked a bit.

Personally I don't mind the horde fights that much, but when it's a constant thing it gets to be a bit much, I shouldn't be accosted by 3-4 charred within a minute or two of clearing 6+ some askvin and a morgot

interesting that you are using all the best gear fully upgraded, to decide whether its been balanced appropriately

I didnt play the old build "higher spawn rate" but a week ago i landed in ashlandands and took about 1 or 2 hrs to set a base, we were constantly getting attacked by mobs over and over, imo it was frustrating

Yeah I get it, most of my friends had issues with the old spawn rate.
I'm getting used to this one, and it is still a lot higher than anything we face in other biomes.
Overall, it seems like the right decision.

I think they absolutely did. I hate the adjustment, it's WAY too easy now. Sometimes I go 15 minutes without seeing a single mob, and I get 3-4 attacking at once. I much preferred the 1-2 morgens, 5 asksvins, and 20 charred every 30 seconds. I think they should change it back, and then add a slider for the folks that don't like it, so they and lower it.

Yeah, they need a new slider for density.

I can't really tell by that either, spawn rate is the real problem and there seems to too much variability from area to area; one particular hotspot generated 8 morgens in about one half to two thirds of a ig day. I like the stiff entry fee; even more mobs could spawn around even more of the dedicated spawners, say 6 per given time frame of 30 seconds or a minute but yeah, once they are dealt with and the spawner is destroyed, the constant spawning ends in that area. I think a player ultimately needs to feel a sense of accomplishment at least; the way it is now is turning probably 60-80% of the players I know away from Valheim or they are really really struggling, and most of them are long time players with multiple playthroughs. For the most part the developers do a really fine job of, developing (except their network code is doomed to always be horrendous I guess) but in the last two biomes they have gone more for the unique look and experience while forgetting some of the basic gaming principles.

I think they have a bit heavy handed, should only buff the spawn rate by little bit.

No they didn't, we play on hard and its nice not to have to fight 5 of everything all at once. Besides the game code cant handle all those ashland killers. at least now the morgen is not infront and behind you at the same time.
