King Fran Petty well I’d have to go back and watch the new Halloween to see if they explained this, but technically Michael was suppose to have killed Loomis in 1978 (in a recreated scene that was cut from production) and then he killed his obsessed new Loomis, either way, 60ish years of psychology were absolutely ineffective against Michael, and given Hannibal’s ego, he would try to manipulate Michael which would be his ultimate folly, can’t reason with/manipulate pure evil imo

You know everything you already know about the characters and their weaknesses, it'd just be a case of figuring out if you'd physically be able to do it.

Leather face vs Patrick Bateman would’ve been fun to see with all the crazy chainsaw theatrics and weird yelling. Plus it’s the classic city slick vs country bumpkin
Leatherface would've been distracted and scared by the blaring of Huey Lewis and The News, while Bateman put on a poncho. Poncho wins over the leather apron, baby!
Patrick is smarter, so I think he'd win tbh. Leatherface only is able to kill people cause...they don't have weapons and he has a chainsaw and he finds them in the middle of nowhere. Don't get me wrong, he's great. But Patrick Bateman is smart, and more focused. Not saying he wouldn't get caught for doing so, that's questionable, but I think he could defo kill leatherface.

Herbert West vs. Wishmaster
I would argue that as intelligent as Herbert West is, he would be able to figure out not only what a djinn is, know not to make any wishes, and subsequently the loophole to defeating him. I mean, if Tammy Lauren can figure out how to banish this mystical genie-man, then I bet my boy Herbert West would too. Also, with how up his own ass Herbert is, I can see him viewing the djinn's offer of the secrets of conquering death as an insult. Like a, "You think I, Dr. Herbert West, would let some foul creature such as you ruin what my mind will accomplish? I don't need handouts from the likes of you. Away with you, you lecherous simpleton!" kind of scenario. That leaves Herbert solving the Blob crisis, and ascending into Valhalla.
I'm literal years late but this is exactly what I was thinking too. Dr. West is WAY too smart to not at the very least put up a pretty good fight

For Herbert West vs Djinn: Would Herbert West be too prideful to use a wish as a shortcut?
MATCHUP SPOILERS BELOW:
For the Hannibal vs. Michael match: I think that should’ve gone to the coin toss as a more even matchup, and here’s why: Michael has shown himself to be able to be manipulated. I know you were going with the first Michael (at first), but in the new Halloween movie, he falls for a trick when Judy Greer plays the victim. Plus, he sometimes stalks people for a bit. In “Hannibal,” Hannibal tricks a thief by letting himself be stalked, then striking at the exact right moment. He’s also very sneaky, fearless, and cunning, with a culinary expertise of anatomy. I think would’ve been too tough to call for me.
For The Djinn vs. The Blob, I could almost hear the two of you wishing for a way to defeat The Blob. The Djinn would’ve heard someone wishing The Blob could be defeated, and that would be it. Wish granted. He’ll be taking your soul as payment.
I know James and Chelsea changed it up, but they said in the beginning, the characters are in a Roman coliseum going against each other. That would mean no time to really manipulate Michael. And the only way he was manipulated by Judy greer is because the real Michael myers powered through his curse for a couple of seconds because it was his family member

Also concerning Pazuzu vs Damien; I'd go with Pazuzu, because the lore concerning this particular demon is that Pazuzu was invoked by the Mesopotamians to ward off other demons. So he's an anti-demon demon.

I keep going back to the Billy and Stu team, especially once we started tossing out the arena and adding some preplanning and stuff. These kids know horror movies so really they might be the most meta team who knows all the weaknesses.

That’s a good idea for an episode, although they’ve said that these past several years have been the best time for horror but they may have a more liked decade or a decade that came out with the most influential horror movies

This is probably the only podcast I’m going to listen to because MURDER MARCH MADNESS. Also I know how to seed them, seed them by kill amount.
Herbert is actually a pretty good guy, a bunch of friends and I have watched the first two movies (we don't talk about Beyond Re-Ani) and he's actually fairly alright. More in the chaotic good category, if using the "trying to help people in a way that doesn't obey the rules" definition. He's trying to eliminate death for everyone, like most doctors. In the films he doesn't outright murder anyone that isn't bad in some way. Dr. Hill was a plagiarist and threatened to kill Dan, and Dr. Halsey was an accidental casualty. In Bride of Re-Animator he makes it a point about the one cop whose name I forget was an abuser and that's why he wasn't as hung up about using him. "He's a wife-beater, Dan, use the gun!" is still such a great line, by the by. Most other bodies he uses are gathered in what I would describe as a "vulture culture" type of way.
I would also like to point out he doesn't really have much of, if any, control over those he re-animates, so the chances of help from them is slim. I would still rank Herbert as being a better combatant as compared to Victor because of his resourcefulness as shown in the movies and also a fan-theory I'm partial to is that he's a bit more durable due to his mild addiction to his reagent. (This is mostly used as an explanation as to why he showed up in the sequel when they planned on killing him off in the first film before the success warranted another.)

When it comes to the Djinn Vs. Herbert West battle, I think that West would come out on top. He’s so arrogant and stubborn that he wouldn’t take the easy way out with the Djinn. His whole life is the work, so I doubt he’d just wish for the answer instead of completing that journey himself. Great video, you guys!

I saw the writing on the wall once it was Herbert Vs the Djinn. Herbert was the only person in the whole bracket that had a chance of stopping the blob.

Myriam Gee i think the difference is she wanted to. he wouldn’t guide leatherfaces hand because leatherface isn’t gonna want to be a witch, whereas in the movie he had someone who was totally into it, so guiding the hand makes sense.

A better argument would have been that he could have used his coven of woods witches to attack Leatherface. That's why I said writing isn't a good argument when there are better ones.

Last year (2018), the Horrorfied podcast did a March Madness horror monster bracket.
The finalists were the Xenomorph alien vs the Gremlins.
This whole episode was fun, but I especially enjoy the little asides of what the fights would be like. The Freddy Bees saying "Bee my victim!" Lep on a tricycle and turning Amanda into a puzzles. Freddy tearing apart Frank as a bunch of Rocky's. Etc
Scary thing here that went unmentioned is that in the later rounds, people aren't just dealing with a blob, they're dealing with a cloverfield monster sized blob

James you should add the part in scifighters where they zip up billy dragon in the body bag and say “bag him up, he’s dead meat” to the end of your intro
I think Billy and Stu could have taken down Leprechaun. They’re so knowledgeable about horror and they would have binged and studied all of the Leprechaun movies to find his weaknesses. A Billy/Stu vs Pamela Vorhees match-up would have been *really* interesting given Billy’s mother issues.
Jigsaw would def die in the first round but have enough contingencies that he somehow wins the whole thing

For Herbert West vs. The Djinn, I think he would've wished for the stone and broken it, or done something else a little more tactful. I don't think He would've been so easily tempted when he's been so careful with all his opponents up to this point. This was always gonna be a hard battle, but I think he'd come out on top.

Blair Witch can shift the reality of the woods, especially once entered by a person. It’s not that messing with her sigils and totems incurs her wrath it’s the challenge of her ability and doubt in her powers that makes her mad. Anyways, even if you tried tear down the house that wouldn’t matter cause the forest itself is her domain and trying to burn down the forest would have a negative consequence on the person trying to burn it down like Dr. Herbert would catch on fire instead cause she has the ability to warp people’s perceptions. That’s all I have to say asides from this was fun to watch!
Okay, so as an added note if the Blair Witch had been allowed to proceed I think that the Blair Witch would have won because the Blob primarily consumes carbon based creatures not plants or other solid materials in the movie. So, even though the Blob has no perceived consciousness, of which can be warped, the Blair Witch would win in regards to the fact that she can alter reality to contain the Blob thus rendering it useless. In case you’re curious her mind warping abilities are expressed more in Book of Shadows and her reality warping abilities are expressed more so in the first and recently made sequel movie.
Weird extra note she doesn’t have a physical form, but she can warp the minds and bodies of others to make conduit slaves for her goals if need be.
Anyways, idk if that helps in elaborating how she would win it’s just things I’m aware of as to why I think she would win

The hard part with having the Blair Witch in this was that she had never been defeated in any of the movies, so no one really even knows how to take down the Blair Witch, or even if that would be a possibility.

I feel the Tall Man should've been much higher because while his present body can be destroyed, there's so much more to what the Tall Man does if he has a threat of loss. He took one of the sentinels drilling his head and crushed it like a soda can. Also you probably would exclude this but if you kill the present Tall Man, another will take his place. It's happened so much. Also he has super strength, teleportation, and telekinesis. Getting down to it, Jigsaw is still a cancer patient while the Tall Man is an interdimensional cosmic horror, similar to Pennywise. To answer your question about Pinhead, he can not manipulate reality but rather the dimension itself creates illusions but I still say Pinhead could beat Jason. I kinda wanna see Dante vs Pinhead though. By the end of The Babadook, it hid in fear because she admitted her grief. I kinda want Godzilla vs the Blob
Godzilla vs the Blob would be a question of if the Blob had a vapor point. Godzilla fires billion degree radiation from his mouth, so it's a question if that could vaporize it. It doesn't seem to boil other Kaiju but maybe as the Blob is a substance it could be boiled if it could be frozen.

I see your point about Pinhead vs Jason but it’s sad you eliminated one of the most iconic villains in movie history in the first round :(
For Cloverfield Monster vs The Blob, at its full size the Cloverfield monsters head breaches the clouds. If the fight were a full grown monster, I think it'd stand a better chance. The Blob is BIG and acidic, but at some point the sheer mass of Clover would probably just crush and atomize it.
For Freddy vs the candy man the only way to defeat the candy is to get everyone to stop being afraid of him
I am months late with this but I just listened to this and I have 2 thoughts I needed to say:
1. Carrie vs. Jinn: I believe you were right in that he would trick her into the prom thing, but once Carrie found out what happened, like right before she was about to die, her powers would be at their PEAK. I thunk there be a final scream where she'd set off some chain of events that kill his gem.
2. Chuckie vs Blob: Chuckie is rather smart and if you give him the bride of chuckie then they could operate a vehicle aka the truck of dry ice. Chuckie might stand a chance.

With slender man and the bear, slender man causes a lot of disoriention when you get near him, so I feel like the bear wouldn't be able to be to get close enough to bite down on him.

This is great. Book of shadows.. Oh man. Blair witch has mind control in that kind of..
Spoilers ahead
The people investigating drink a shit ton, but they dont remember killing other campers. Towards the end you see that certain scenes were manipulated. A goth chick picking up beer and the lady refuses to serve her, so she throws money at her and leaves.. Later on you see the video tape from the store and it shows the goth chick killing the lady.. So the blair witch kinda controls this one chick who juat miscarried her child and is really sick. She kinda takes over her body and forces her to kill herself. In the tapes it shows her boyfriend killing his girlfriend.
So reality is kind of distorted to a sense.. It also has that terrible stand up corpse in a closet scene.
*For the Hebert West vs. Victor Frankenstein match*
If it was the original Shelley version of the creature then the matchup changes. The original monster is like a superhero in terms of physical strength, speed, and agility. It is quite intellectual and perceptive. I think if we were going with that version, Victor would win. In addition, the novel never mentions _how_ Frankenstein brought the creature to life so it could be a potion or maybe more realisitically a jolt from a makeshift defibrilator.
*For the final Djinn vs Blob and Michael vs Blob matches*
I think the Blob wins each time assuming the other characters don't have their own motivations. Yes, Michael is an unfeeling force of nature but he's still a human being, exceptionally capable of problem solving and setting up small traps. Mind you, he probably sat in the back of that car for awhile waiting for Lori's friend in the first film. I'm sure he would see stuff getting dissolved by the blob and figure out it isn't capable of conventional destruction. Same with the Djinn, does he have to act solely based on others' wishes or can he do things other than that? He could alter reality to where everything is cold, or go back in time to before the Blob existed and stop it from being created.

I feel like Chucky could’ve had his army of himself and Tiffany and Chucky is versatile he could’ve done his research on the blob and maybe brought something to freeze him. But if that can’t happen he’s screwed lol

You know, I've listened to this a few times and had a realization- it was assumed that Herbert would be an easy kill for the Djinn, but that would be in a scenario like the movie where nobody knows what the Djinn really is. But if this is the kind of tournament where combatants can watch the other matches, then Herbert would go into his fight with the Djinn knowing that's what he is, and probably having done as much research on him as possible. I'm not saying he'd be impossible to trick (or guessing how he could have killed the Djinn), but if he KNEW what he was dealing with, I don't think he'd be stupid enough to wish for anything.

I really don't understand why would you pin Black Philip and Leatherface against each other. Before that I got all the other pairings it's either their similar characters in personality or have similar powers but sending the devil in the form of a goat to a butcher is strange. Or were you juat running out of characters towards the end? Also I think that a fight between Pennywise and Freddy would be intresting. Oh also I know that this was only about more known characterd but Beldam from Coraline is really similar to Pennywise so them fighting would be intresting too.
For the Leatherface and Black Philip thing, i think it’s just bc he’s a former butcher and Black Philip is a farm animal 😂
